Further, we have a sense of the highest level of brotherhood for Muslims in general. For the sake of other readers who are interested in learning Sanatan Scriptures. I would like to pass on the following details.
I have come to know from some reliable sources the following publishers for obtaining Veda Samahita and other scriptures
Original Vedas can be obtained from:
(1) M/s. Vijay Kumar Govindram Hasanand, Nai sadak, Delhi.
Also if you wish,
(2) The Four Vedas have been translated into (saral/easy) hindi by Sri Ram Sharma of the Gayatri parivar. The whole set (8 Volumes) cost around Rs 1200 and can be purchased from Motilal Barnarasi in Delhi http://www.mlbd.com/home.aspx.
Sri Ram Sharma has also translated the 108 upanishads (3 vols).
I have also found the following useful compilation of Srimad Bhagwad Gita by Pandit Shomnath Sharma
Srimad Bhagwad Geeta in Sanskrit and Hindi anuvad, audio files can be downloaded free of cost http://www.esnips.com/web/BhagwatGita-ByPanditShomnathSharma (also available at youtube).

I would like to mention here that Vedas and other scriptures should be learned in Sanskrit only and under the guidace of a able Guru.
Although people are pushing Agniveer team for English translation of Vedas. I think no matter what the team does, it will be almost impossible to translate the subtle concepts. The reason being not their inability, but the weakness of the English language.
Same goes with the translation in other languages. Translation may increase the readership, but it would dilute the essence (or may completely miss the point) leading to more confusion for the later generation.
Thus in my opinion, Vedas and other scriptures should be learned in Sanskrit only, and in presence of an able Guru. Mastery over the Sanskrit language is a must. It will definitely take a very long time, but then it is worth spending life for.

I would request Agniveer team not to invest resources in the translation. In my opinion it will not be worth it in the long run.
Those who are really serious about learning them will understand the point of view in learning the Sanskrit language. Those who are looking for shortcut, are not in it for learning but for criticizing, manipulating and misinterpretation. And it is unwise to put immense effort and limited resources for this purpose.

Thanks for the valuable information that you have provided.
Our goal for English translations would not be to achieve something that can be achieved only through Sanskrit and partially through Hindi, but to at least provide a translation that presents alternatives to crap available to works of Griffith, Max Muller etc. At least we can ensure that it does not convey anything against the tenets of Vedas.
We shall start Sanskrit lessons on site soon. We shall start with Sanskrit-English and then follow up with live conferencing with a tutor.
And thanks a lot for the valuable links. That is indeed very useful for all of us. Just one important point: the Hindi translation by Gayatri Parivar is not recommended because it provides blatantly wrong translations of many mantras based perhaps on works of western indologists. How this happened I don;t know, but this cannot be suggested as recommended text on Vedas. We were close to losing a court case due to the blatant errors in this commentary.
The translations by Swami Dayanand (available partially), Jaydev and Vishwanath Vidyalankar are reasonable and can be obtained from Govindram Hasanand address that you provided.

Thank You for your post here. It is really nice to see passion like yours among our Dharmic brothers. I wish more and more Dharmic sisters and brothers had such enthusiasm, fervor, and love for the Dharmic and Vedic movement as you do.
I understand your idea of the Vedas being taught in Sanskrit. I even like the idea of encouraging all of our Dharmic sisters and brothers to learn Sanskrit so we can all read, speak, and communicate in Sanskrit. It is all very important for the survival of our dharmic movement. And I hope one day our Dharmic people will all know Sanskrit and it becomes the daily common language used by all. That way, they can reference the Vedas for themselves instead of relying on someone telling them what is in it. I’m not sure what it will take to do this, but I hope it can happen.
The area I differ from you is only providing the Vedas in Sanskrit, especially today. I state this because currently most of the Dharmic people cannot speak Sanskrit. Yet they wish to know what is available in our Vedas. Everyday very good people from all over the world (from every content: from Africa to Europe, China to America, and ect.) are becoming more interested in the Vedas. They really like the ideas in it and they want to become our Dharmic brother or sister. And if we deprive them access to this knowledge by restricting it only to Sanskrit speakers, we are doing a great disservice to our Dharmic brothers and sisters. If for anything else, at least for them, we need to provide this great information in their own native language. Yes, English would be a good start, but eventually we would need to translate it to all the other languages of the world as well. That way anyone can have access to this great information.

That is why I propose, while translating the Vedas, we ensure to place a word of caution in the translated copy of the Vedas. Something that will state the direct translation is not easy from Sanskrit to English or any other language. Think of it this way, the translated copy can be viewed as a greeting card for the interested brother or sister and if they wish to further their study in the Vedas, they can learn Sanskrit. Every person will need some kind of starting point, and the translated copy will be that starting point. It doesn’t mean it will end with the starting point. It means the translated copy will be the point to get the person/s interested and later they can start the process of learning Sanskrit and becoming more of an expert in the Vedas.
The most important reason why we need to provide our sisters and brothers a translated copy of the Vedas is to ensure there is a copy out there that is approved by Dharmic sisters and brothers like us. Currently there are many translated copies of the Vedas by organizations and people who have nefarious intent. They want to purposefully provide fake or poor translations to create an image of the Vedas that will push an agenda, a propaganda, that in many ways is detrimental to Dharmic people. And if the Dharmic people who can’t speak Sanskrit read this, they might be inclined to assume or much worse, believe these charlatans’ translations. If our Dharmic people actually have a translation that is approved by Dharmic people, with the word of caution, they will have resources that can help them follow the true path of Dharm. And they will have resources to combat these malevolent and malicious forces against Dharm.

It is difficult , but where do you learn Sanskrit and that Vedic Sanskrit?The main problem is that the subtleties of vedic Sanskrit. How does Agni veer suppose to help? It was very tedious for me to understand the translated meaning in which I had too do several times the english translation made no sense. Reading sanskrit I could understand the mistakes even written in Gita and its translations, but there is that tediousness to do this works which needs mastery of language, each word must be derived meaning and how to fit it together.. Further those who have studied science see things at a different angle then the languages and it is important to tie up things together, as thee practical meaning must not be lost. I have the full english, sanskrit, hindi vedas. the four vedas in hindi cost around 1600 ruppees and can be bought at New Delhi, as there many arya smaj. If you are interest I can give a copy for you as I run a library. I am willing too help. But there maybe things lost forever as per meaning in vedas.

Further those who translate should have good qualities that are required to interpret the Vedas. I have two major flaws a temper and impatient, but otherwise I lived 29 years as brahmacharya. Otherwise, I have no vice, nor I drink or smoke and throughout life, and I am not a monk. Intelligent will tell only logic, but requirement of even better higher qualities will give a direction in which the Vedas should be interpreted. These qualities are important for both understanding and interpreting Veda.
Further people of vedic time were different from the city dweller of today who does not know of plant or animals in environment, may not see the stars and the seasonal changes, are less in tuned to nature. So again will see things different as we are less aware of their environment then ancient people. As we today live in pre-packaged food, drinks, other items hardly knowing what goes in..Not that vedic people did not have such things, but we must remember this is Kali yuga, there is less of nature which we live in extinction period, whereas during vedic period nature was bounty full , full of abundance of life and those times it was basic to know all plants, animals, stars and their properties..Like the plant Soma which gave so many good qualities long life, super vision, strength, etc., which is said to be lost now. .
Like who printed the calender back then? They were depended on the the stars, this intimacy with nature maybe hard for people to understand now.
Samveda full english translation I have downloaded from Kasyapa Veda research foundation, the scientific explanation of yajana is also relevant and very good. FAQ on Vedas too is good for beginners. Dr M H rajesh is PHD in English, Brahmin and have learned vedas under a guru. He agrees with all opinions of Swami Dayananad Saraswati. I am crosschecking samveda english translation with Hindi at arya samaj jamnagar website both tally. To download PDf you have to register first.

Although vedas translation from Sanskrit to English cannot provide exact meaning however i think it should be consider as necessary work, at least it will provide a initial passage for new generation Hindu to understand their culture and heritage

Basically I am from Bengal and for me reading both Hindi and Sanskrit is a bit tough. I know you did said in the beginning that it is not possible for truly translate the veda’s in any modern language but for peoples like me could there be any translation which could be atleast somewhat close to the original one? Do you know where I can get a bengali/english translation of vedas ?

– This is very clear that the Veda is talking about Karma. The fact that the word DEEDS is used is very clear indicator of it. And it also talks about different births, which is also clear about reincarnation.

namaste agniveer, I would like to make sure that is the above given for ved is complete 100% . Or some mantras are some part are missing just to make sure. Because one of my muslim friend told me to look those mantra which Zakir naik has said in his video. But when i reach their to look in these Veda that number of mantra does not exist. I checked at least four reference he has given and i find in these ved books that number does not exit. According to your essay about veda i told him Zakir naik is making propogenda. And then he said to look these mantra. Even i know how many mantras are in rigveda and all. but soft copy i can not count easly. Now he has started beleaving that Zakir naik is wrong but before he is watching his video too much. But i just want to make sure is ved is complete for my satisfaction.

If you would like Agniveer to get back to you, I would recommend to write to him from the contact page. I would also recommend to go to the debate forums that Agniveer has setup.
I am not a expert about the Vedas, but I will say, the some verses naik uses don’t even exist in the Vedas. He is making stuff up. He also refers to black Yajur Veda and white one. Those are versions of the Vedas created during the muslim rule to corrupt Hindus. There is no such thing as black and white Yajur Vedas. Now I’m not saying I’m an expert, but from my study so far, I can tell naik is making stuff up. I wouldn’t look to a bias source, I would look at the people who actually practice the faith for proof.

can anyone elaborate how to read the translation on jamnagar website. i mean there’s this one line of slok, and then theres this full page of translation, also what is meant by padarthanvyabhasha
and once the translation starts the same word is translated many times once in each paragraph. i guess there some procedure to read. can anyone elaborate.
Also i know that it would be hard to translate all for agniveer, but shouldnt it like try to translate at least one slok a day??(i know it would take a lot of time that way but still it is better than nothin)

Critical analysis of Islam is not the only Agenda they got here. As you see, this website covers many topics which are plaguing Indian society for years now.
There are plenty of sites now on Islam. Agniveer should not get involved in that.
Agniveer best to focus on dispelling myths about Hinduism, or refuting false statements about Hinduism that have been made and perpetuated by Muslims or Christians. The focus should be Hinduism, not Islam or even Christianity.
Exactly, Agniveer site should only be used to defend Hinduism, and state the full force of the scriptural facts.

Hmmm it is not about speaking ill. What Ali Sina and others are doing is not speaking ill. Discussion and debate and being politically incorrect is not necessarily about speaking ill of others.
The point is that there are plenty of sites already discussing Islam. Agniveer is an expert on Hinduism and their greatest benefit to others is to dispel falsehoods and misconceptions in both Hindus and non-Hindus about Hinduism. They should counter misconceptions and falsehoods on Hinduism promoted by Muslims and Christians and others, and should comment on the actions of Muslims and Christians toward Hindus and other faiths now and historically, but leave the discussion of what Islam is or is not to others. It is not helpful for instance when Agniveer tries to show the Zakir guy is wrong about Islam. It is helpful when Agniveer shows how Zakir is wrong on Hinduism.

Depends on which mantra you are analyzing. We would rather suggest that one refrains from a person-based approach in such matters. Read, analyze and decide yourself. We recommend the translations that we found better and hence are distributing them.
in that case can you translate these verse or give me the authentic translation possibly from one of these translators if they exist? Thanks for replying and getting back to us. I do make the assumption that Dayanand was the brains behind it. I know he translated from Sanskrit to Hindi. What we want to know is the people who brought it from Sanskrit to English or Hindi to English. We understand Dayanand was the one who taught the methodology to us, but we need to know who used that system and brought the translation ENGLISH.

In this case, it was almost a literal translation of Dayanand’s works. You can check from any available Hindi/ English RVBB or SP.

Yes, it might be a literal translation of Dayanand’s work, but who did that literal translation to English. I have a copy of the Vedas translated into English by the Arya Samaj Organization. The Yajur Veda copy I have was done by Devi Chand M.A. And I assume they used Dayanand’s method to translate either from Sanskrit or Hindi to modern english. In your case, who is the person or people who the literal translation into English?
I’m sorry to put you guys on the spot, but it will be very helpful to us. And I understand there might be need to protect the identity of some of the people do the translation, and if that is the case, please tell us that person or people want their identity protected or they just don’t want to be in the public eye. Either way, tell us the name of the translator or translator into English (whether it was literal or not of Dayanand’s method) or tell us at this time Agniveer does not wish to reveal the identity of the individuals who translated the material.

These are translations by Agniveer when they used to have them up. now the individual person or people translated them, I don’t know. And I was told by an Agniveer member that an English translation of all the Vedas are suppose to be ready soon. Not sure when that will be but looking forward to it.

I am delighted and I promised myself to transfer every possible knowledge of veda to All who seeks. Ofcourse its limited to what I have read and gain so far :).
I cannot buy the 4 vedas with english translation of Dr Tulsi Ram. How can i get the books and pay the payments? I also cannot find any link regarding buying the book. All i have found the link is dead. I am from Germany and a Hindu.
The publisher has asked us to stop distribution and promotion of these books for inexplicable reasons. We are also in surprise why one would do so. We have been trying to work things out but in vain. This happened last year after we published a series of posts opposing Kashmir separatism. It is extremely unfortunate but we are legally bound to honor decision of publisher. We are trying to bring forth alternative translations that do not violate any copyrights.

The reason given by publisher was that Agniveer conspired with Google and Adobe to violate copyright by following:
– Allowing google to show link to purchase of book in its search results
– Allowing Adobe Acrobat to open and email pdf file in other systems apart from one from which buyer first downloaded the file.
We tried to explain him the technology behind google and pdf files. It resulted in he threatening us with legal and “other” consequences. He also convinced the author that Agniveer violated his copyright in collusion with anti-vedic agents like Google and Adobe.
The author is completely unknown to computer technology and hence trusted the publisher. Initially we thought the publisher was just making some kind of joke. But when he started giving threats and abuses did we realize that all this is true! This happened immediately after we published articles against Kashmiri separatism and fanatics. Nonetheless, we are determined to identify the enemies in guise and surmount all obstacles despite their enmity. When one is in path of Ishwar, nothing else matters.
Google & Adobe as anti-vedic agents? Whatever the publisher meant by that but its a pity that he was even able to convince the wisest person among us of this nonsense. I blame the Author too for blocking it.
The other faiths are providing their religious books free of cost & here we are fighting over copyright violations. The publisher is a disgrace on entire Humanity!
And of course, salute to your fighting spirit Agniveer depsite of being heavily outnumbered in every aspect. May you & your tribe keep growing.
