Lets learn Vedic Worship – True Hinduism

It is possible that this post is based on the translations and commentaries of Islamic texts like Quran, Hadiths etc. as published by all major Islamic publishing sources. These are the publicly available translations that are used for promotion of Islam by prominent representatives.

We, however, believe that most of these texts have been wrongly translated, misinterpreted, misquoted or even have been tampered with and interpolated to suit the selfish designs of proponents of Islam after Muhammad. Thus, we believe that original Islam and original Quran of Muhammad are totally different from what have been propagated by his followers in name of Islam. There are few minority groups in Muslims whose scholars subscribe to our views and interpret/translate Islamic texts differently or even refuse to consider the available Quran and Hadiths as authentic. But these scholars themselves are considered Kafirs and are condemned by a dominant elite group of Islam. Thus, when we refer to Islam, we actually imply these dominant elites of Islam and not Muslims or all Islamic scholars in general.

Wherever we critically evaluate Muhammad, we imply the fictitious Muhammad propagated by these false texts or their wrong translations and not the original Muhammad. We have high regard for original Muhammad who stood for non-violence and tolerance. Similarly, when we analyze Islamic texts, we refer to these questionable translations/versions and NOT original texts.

Further, we have a sense of the highest level of brotherhood for Muslims in general. Wherever we use the word Muslim in a critical manner, it refers to false representatives of Islam and not Muslims in general. Readers are requested to keep this in mind to understand the correct perspective of such posts on this website.

Nowhere should they assume the words like Islam, Quran, Prophet etc. to be referring to original noble entities, unless it has been referred in a positive light. We restrict ourselves only to notions prevalent in minds of fanatics and those without reason.

Vedic Lessons

We shall continue from previous summary on Vedic God where we had briefly described benefits of worship of Ishwar as follows:

Q: Should we worship Ishwar or not? Why? After all He never forgives!

A: Ishwar should be worshipped and He alone should be worshipped.
It is true that by worship of Ishwar, you will not receive any shortcut pass certificate when you have actually failed. Only lazy and cheaters desire such unscrupulous means to success.
The benefits of worship of Ishwar are different:
a. By worship of Ishwar one is able to understand Ishwar and His creation better.
b. By worship, one is able to better understand His properties and adopt those in his own life. This enhances one’s personality, annihilates the source of future sins, encourages virtues of truth and compassion and comes closer to truth and bliss.
c. By worship, one is able to hear ‘inner voice’ better and get constant clearer guidance from Him.
d. By worship, one eradicates ignorance, gains strength and is able to withstand toughest challenges in life with confidence and aplomb.
e. Ultimately, one is able to remove ignorance completely and achieve Moksha or salvation with ultimate bliss.
I would like to add one more reason for worship.
– Ishwar has done so much for us and continues to do so endlessly. And hence it is natural for us to thank Him in same manner as we thank our mortal parents for their blessings. Only an unfortunate selfish person would not demonstrate his gratitude and lose opportunity to purify his or her heart.
Please note that worship does not mean some mechanical recitations or blankness of mind. It is a proactive approach to imbibe wisdom through actions, knowledge and contemplation.

Q: How should we worship Ishwar?

A: Basically worship of Ishwar lies in each act that we perform in our life. True worship implies following the ‘inner voice’ on a continuous basis. This is called living life of Yajna – selfless acts dedicated only to noble purposes.
This is called worship through actions. However to ensure that one conducts his life purely in a noble manner without deviations, one has to practice on two more aspects:
a. Seeking knowledge
b. Contemplation on the knowledge to imbibe the same as part of our sanskaars.
The trio of Knowledge-Contemplation-Actions go hand in hand and are fruitless in isolation.
For this lesson, we shall focus on specific aspects of ‘Contemplation’. But please note that this assumes that the rest of the two components – Knowledge and Actions are also being utilized in sync. Henceforth, when we refer to worship in this lesson, we would imply only the component of ‘contemplation’ for ease of communication.

Q: What are the key components of Worship?

A: There are three major components:
– Stuti or Glorification
– Prarthana or Prayer
– Upasana or Yogic Practice
In this article, we shall mainly focus on Stuti and Prarthna. We shall also cover Upasana in brief. However this science would demand greater exposition.
Please note that these are not exclusive of each other however.

Q: Explain Stuti in more detail.

A: ‘Stuti’ or Glorification means stating the correct attributes/properties of any entity in most truthful manner. Hence ‘false buttering (makhanbaazi)’ of anything as well as ‘unreasonable condemnation’ are both not Stuti.
The purpose of Stuti of Ishwar is to understand the properties of Ishwar and attempt to model our own nature and actions in sync with Him. For example just as Ishwar is just and kind, we should also be just and kind. Ishwar never gives up, and hence we should also not give up.
One who merely sings the virtues of Ishwar like a drama artist but does not put effort in changing his or her own character is simply wasting time. Because Ishwar is not a narcissist dictator who enjoys being praised. Whatever Stuti we do is solely for our own benefit by improving our own self.
There are two types of Stuti:

Saguna Stuti

Glorification by remembering and understanding those attributes of Ishwar that are present in Him. For example, He is eternal and pure.

Nirguna Stuti

Glorification by remembering and understanding those attributes that are NOT present in Ishwar. For example, He has no form and He is never born.
The difference is merely of semantics and not the fundamentals.

Q: Can you present some mantras from Vedas having Stuti of ishwar?

A: Ishwar is the main subject of Vedas. Hence a large number of mantras having Stuti of Ishwar are part of Vedas. For example:
Yajurveda 40.8:
He is present in everything, fastest and most powerful, pure, omniscient, knows everything, master of all, eternal, self-sufficient and guides us all with knowledge of Vedas. (This is Saguna Stuti)
He is without body, never takes birth, has no nerves or gaps, does not conduct sin, is separate from pain and miseries. (This is Nirguna Stuti)
Atharvaveda 10.8.1 and 10.7.32-34
He knows what has happened in past, what is happening currently and what can happen in future in most perfect manner. He manages the entire world through this knowledge and is master of us all. He is bliss Himself and completely away from sorrow! He is the greatest and we bow to Him!
He created the earth where we dwell and the universe as well as all those bodies which give us light. He is the greatest and we bow to Him!
He creates the sun and the moon in every cycle of creation. He also creates the fire for our benefit. He is the greatest and we bow to Him!
He creates the air we breathe in and the air we breathe out. He creates the light through which we see. He has created and managed everything in all the ten directions in a marvelous integrated fashion so that we are benefited utmost. He is the greatest and we bow to Him!
Yajurveda 25.13
He provides the power of knowledge to our souls. He provides us all true wisdom and bliss. All scholars worship Him and Him alone. The intelligent ones follow His directions as provided in Vedas to obtain continuous bliss and achieve salvation. Surrender to Him alone is freedom from miseries and deviating away from Him by indulging in misdeeds alone is reason for being trapped in cycles of death again and again. Hence we should worship Him and Him alone who is the very definition of Bliss and Happiness!

Q: What do you mean by Prarthana or Prayer?

A: To request for support from Ishwar after we have put our best efforts for a noble purpose is called Prayer. Neither is it a prayer when we request help for a sinful purpose nor it is a prayer when we request so without having put the best we can. Prayer is neither for the wicked nor for the lazy ones.
Thus:
1. Whatever we pray from Ishwar, we should adopt the same in our lives as well. For example, if we pray for knowledge, we should also put the best efforts to seek knowledge. Prayers make sense ONLY AFTER due effort has been put. Expecting free lunch is mark of beggars, not worshippers of God who Himself never lazes even for a while. Hence, make the due payment and then request your lunch.
2. Wicked prayers bring opposite results because they pollute one’s mind and cause him to invite even more miseries. For example, Ishwar rejects prayers like –
“O Ishwar, destroy my enemy and make me the most powerful and glorious.”  Because if both the enemies would pray for the same, should Ishwar destroy them both?
If someone argues that one who prays more sincerely out of two should be heard by Ishwar, then by this logic, one who prays slightly less sincerely should cause at least some damage, though lesser, to his enemy! This is utter foolishness.
3. Similarly if one prays like “O Ishwar, make Chapati for us, please clean my house, wash my clothes, harvest my crops etc”, he is simply a fool.
In Yajurveda 40.2, Ishwar orders us: “Live for 100 years and even more only by putting best efforts and never ever be lazy.” Those who ignore this order of Ishwar can never achieve happiness, how so much noble they may be in other qualities.
Hard-work or Purusharth is the MOST IMPORTANT characteristic to imbibe in life. All the rest of noble qualities assume that Purusharth is already in place.
In other words, fortune favors the brave.
4. We give job only to those who work, not to lazy ones. Only one who has eyes and wants to see can be shown something. Taste of sugar is obtained only by obtaining sugar and eating it, not by merely saying “Sugar is sweet”. Similarly, only one who puts best efforts in noble activities eventually achieves the Sugar sooner or later.

Q: Can you provide some mantras from Vedas on prayer of Ishwar?

A: In fact many! Read them carefully and enjoy the most blissful activity in life – Prayer to Ishwar. But make sure, you are doing your homework by putting best continuous relentless enthused efforts.
Yajurveda 32.14
O Agni (Enlightening Ishwar), Bless us with same intellect through which Yogis and Scholars worship you. And provide us that intellect right now! We promise to surrender our everything to you without any selfishness. After all you are the source of everything that we possess! (Refer Power of Now for detailed explanation of this mantra)
Yajurveda 19.9
You are brilliant, provide us with brilliance as well.
You are infinitely brave and courageous, provide us with same courage and bravery.
You are all-powerful, make us also strong and powerful in mind and body.
You are fully capable, make us also capable.
You show wrath over crimes and criminals. Make us also cultivate the habit of showing same anger over crimes and criminals.
You tolerate all praise or criticism. Make us also strong enough to ignore praise or criticism and focus only on our goal.
In other words, help us steer away from evil towards goodness.
Yajurveda 34.1-6 (Shiva Sankalpa Mantras)
O most lovable Ishwar! With your blessings, my mind goes far away in all forms of knowledge while awake. Even during sleep, it performs similarly. May my powerful mind gifted by you stays away from all sins and have only pure thoughts always. May I always think for welfare of everyone and never ever do I desire harm for anyone.
O knower of all, this mind propels patient scholars and noble people to continuously do noble deeds and fight evil. This mind has tremendous potential and can stay immersed in welfare of all living beings. May such a noble mind always steer away from sins and desire only virtuous thoughts.
This mind provides all great knowledge. It illuminates one and all and helps us make right decisions. Not even a single task can be accomplished without its support. May such a great mind always remain immersed in noble thoughts and away from evil desires.
The yogis know the past, present and future through this mind. This mind helps us unite with Ishwar and seek ultimate knowledge. This mind works together with 5 senses, soul and intellect to conduct virtuous deeds. May such a noble mind always remain pure and for welfare of all.
The knowledge of 4 Vedas – Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda – lay embedded in the mind in same manner as spokes are attached to center of a wheel. This mind is testimony of existence of Ishwar who is always within it and around it. May such a mind remain always dedicated to noble deeds so that I am able to discover the knowledge of Vedas that lies within me, by eradicating all ignorance.
The mind controls the acts of humans like the charioteer controls the horses with strings. It is extremely fast and stays with me always. May such a mind always seek welfare and noble thoughts for all and never ever dwell into sins.
Yajurveda 40.16
O provider of bliss, self-illuminating, omniscient Ishwar, May you provide us with right intellect. May you steer us away from sinful activities. We pray again and again to you to purify our thoughts, words and actions.
Yajurveda 16.15
O Rudra (One who causes evil people to cry and face miseries)! Please guide us all so that none of us harm our younger ones, our elders, our parents, creatures in wombs, our loved ones and all innocent harmless living beings. Guide us away from the path that would cause us to face your punishments.
Shatpath Brahman 14.3.1.30
May we reject the path of falsehood and progress towards truth. May we reject the path of darkness and progress towards enlightenment. May we reject the path of death and seek eternal immortality in form of salvation. O Ishwar! Please be our guide!
Yajurveda 2.10
O affluent Ishwar! Kindly stabilize me into a healthy body, healthy sense organs and a very noble mind with good habits. Please help us make our country stronger, powerful and prosperous. May our noble wishes always become true and we seek only conduct of noble deeds. May we establish a powerful Chakravarti sovereign nation and establish the rule of justice. May we be able to fight away all the forces of corruption, fraud, treachery that plague my country.
Rigveda 1.39.2
May we be strong always. May our weapons – guns, cannons, ammunitions etc – be always ready and top notch. May our weapons and strength be able to defeat all the evil forces desiring to harm innocent people and stop the might of their armies. May our indisputable power, valor and courage help us establish a sovereign, powerful, prosperous and just nation so that all forces of corruption, treachery, fraud and crimes keep getting defeated by us. But this prayer of ours is only for us when we are on path of truth, compassion, justice and nobility. Those who desire so but are fraud, treacherous, unjust and criminals would always suffer mightiest defeats by Ishwar’s grace. Hence we should only indulge in noble deeds.
Yajurveda 38.14
May we only desire doing noble deeds. May our body be always strong and powerful through good healthy food. May we be relentlessly making efforts. May we be able to understand Vedas and apply that knowledge for our benefit. May we have Brahmins (scholars) who provide us good knowledge. May we have brave Kshatriyas (warriors) so that we establish a power nation and destroy fraud forces within and outside our country. May we have experts who help enhance Science and Technology and develop planes, vehicles, useful gadgets, machines etc. May we always remain on path of justice alone. May we harbor no enmity with any living being. May we have powerful nation, tremendous prosperity and noble virtues.
Yajurveda 18.29
May we surrender our everything to the Ishwar who is our mother, father, friend and guru – our entire life, our life force, our sense organs, our efforts, our happiness, our soul, our enlightenment and knowledge, results of our actions, our sacrifices, our glorifications, our emotions, greatest of our achievements – everything. Because Ishwar is source of everything we possess. In other words, achieving Ishwar be the sole purpose of whatever we think or do in life. This ultimate surrender or Samarpan be the mantra of our lives!
May we consider only Him as our ruler and refuse to accept any other dynasty, person or party as our ruler. May we follow only the laws made by Him and not follow human-made norms if they go against orders of Ishwar. May we unite together to thwart those forces that force us to accept them as our rulers instead of Ishwar. In other words, may we all unite together, never fight against each other and follow only truth in thoughts, words and actions.
Let we be guided by te Supreme and not whims of any one individual or set of incompetents.

Q: What do you mean by Upasana?

A: Upasana means to come closer to Ishwar. In other words, Upasana implies the efforts we make to understand Ishwar better so that we may think, act and speak as per His directions. Thus all those activities that we need to conduct to come closer to Ishwar and realize Him by direct evidence comes under ‘Upasana’.
The one who has destroyed all seeds of ignorance and has come closer to Ishwar through Upasana he or she derives a level of happiness and bliss that cannot be expressed in words but can only be felt within.

Q: How do we do Upasana?

A: This is a long subject and forms the basis of Yoga Darshan. We shall provide very brief details here and take this topic in further details sometime later.

But as Step 1 of Upasana:

following needs to be done. Note that this is a must and rest of the methods of Upasana make sense ONLY when the student is putting his best efforts on this first step. It has two components:

Yama

Ahimsa (Non-Violence)- No hatred or enmity against anyone. Only feeling of compassion.
Satya (Truth)- Seeking to accept truth and reject falsehood to best of one’s knowledge.
Asteya (Non-Theft) – To reject whatever is not rightfully yours.
Brahmacharya (Morality) – To cultivate self-control, not be lecherous, keep sense and work organs under control.
Aprigraha (Humility) – To be humble and without any false ego.

Niyama

Shauch (Purity) – Purity of mind and good hygiene practices.
Santosh (Satisfaction) – Putting best efforts towards conduct of noble deeds regardless of failures, successes, glory or insult without being lazy with full happiness and enthusiasm.
Tapa (Efforts) – To ignore pleasure and pain in path of Ishwar and keep putting efforts.
Swadhyaya (Contemplation) – Constant efforts to increase knowledge, seek good company and understanding Ishwar and meaning of Om etc.
Ishwar Pranidhan (Complete surrender to Ishwar) – Simply submitting the will to path of Ishwar.
After these basics have been understood, we actually become eligible to enter into the academy of Yoga.
Note that it does not mean that only after you have mastered these is that next step can begin. Because these steps themselves contain essence of entire Upasana process. But to take next steps, you should at least understand these and keep working on these genuinely. You may fail but should always rise up again even more resolved to master these Yama and Niyama.
We shall discuss the next steps in detail later.

Q: How do we conduct an Upasana session?

A: Whenever one desires to do Upasana, he or she should
– Seek a relatively isolated place
– Sit in a stable position
– Practice some pranayams (breathing methods to control the mind)
(Not the Anulom Vilom and Kapalbhati popular these days. They are merely physical exercises having nothing to do with Yoga as wrongly asserted. For correct Pranayams refer Chapter 2 of Satyarth Prakash.)
– Focus on any body part of body center line like solar plexus, throat, center of eyes, back, head, center of rib cage etc to bring the mind away from world around into singular focus.
– Start contemplating on Ishwar and our relation with Him. Gradually move towards an emotional connect with Ishwar and immerse into His bliss. Let go of rest of the world. Even if wandering thoughts come, simply ignore in same manner as you ignore mosquitoes when enjoying beautiful music.
– Resolve to remove weaknesses and sinful thoughts and resolve to make yourself pure RIGHT NOW!

Q: What are the benefits of Upasana?

A: We have listed out some benefits in beginning of the lesson. Here are some more:
– One who practices Upasana very rapidly increases the purity of his or her mind and makes it truth-oriented. Since truth=bliss, this makes him enjoy the life significantly more than rest of his peers.
– Gradually this truth=bliss leads him to ultimate bliss of salvation where no misery remains further. There is no state better than this to be achieved.
– One who remains committed to Ishwar 24x7x365 always, continues progressing towards more and more happiness and pleasures in life. He becomes much much more capable, alert, enthused and successful person among his peers who do not do Upasana.
– In summary Upasana makes one most successful both materially and spiritually. After all Ishwar alone is source of all material and spiritual happiness!
– Just as a shivering person in chilling winter feels comfort only when he gets closer to fire, similarly, by getting closer to Ishwar, all the sins of soul get destroyed, his nature, actions and tendencies become in sync with Ishwar and hence he achieves ultimate purity and happiness.
– Upasana of Ishwar will make one’s will-power so strong that he or she would be able to withstand such great challenges in life that may seem impossible for others. When faced with toughest situations in life, such a person would still be able to keep his calm and come out of it successfully. What can be greater wonder to be achieved in human life!
– Further one who does not worship Ishwar is foolish as well as shamelessly thankless. Because none else could ignores the One who gave us such tremendous happiness by creating entire world and is continuously supporting us.
Just think of what treatment we rightfully accord to such ungrateful, selfish and foolish people who disown their own parents!
This in summary is the essence of Vedic concept of Ishwar!
May we all earth-dwellers worship the blessing Ishwar constantly with unanimity in our hearts and togetherness among us all.
Yajurveda 30.3: O Ishwar! You provide us with enlightenment and bliss. You create and manage the entire world! We request you to keep us away from sorrow as well as the evil desires that is the cause of all sorrows. And please lead us to whatever is virtuous, noble, truthful and beneficial for all. May we have only purity within us and ward off all evil thoughts and obtain material bliss like powerful just nation, healthy body as well as spiritual bliss of salvation through our efforts guided by you!

Thus, we believe that original Islam and original Quran of Muhammad are totally different from what have been propagated by his followers in name of Islam. There are few minority groups in Muslims whose scholars subscribe to our views and interpret/translate Islamic texts differently or even refuse to consider the available Quran and Hadiths as authentic. But these scholars themselves are considered Kafirs and are condemned by a dominant elite group of Islam. Thus, when we refer to Islam, we actually imply these dominant elites of Islam and not Muslims or all Islamic scholars in general.

Wherever we critically evaluate Muhammad, we imply the fictitious Muhammad propagated by these false texts or their wrong translations and not the original Muhammad. We have high regard for original Muhammad who stood for non-violence and tolerance. Similarly, when we analyze Islamic texts, we refer to these questionable translations/versions and NOT original texts.

Further, we have a sense of the highest level of brotherhood for Muslims in general. Wherever we use the word Muslim in a critical manner, it refers to false representatives of Islam and not Muslims in general. Readers are requested to keep this in mind to understand the correct perspective of such posts on this website.

Nowhere should they assume the words like Islam, Quran, Prophet etc. to be referring to original noble entities, unless it has been referred in a positive light. We restrict ourselves only to notions prevalent in minds of fanatics and those without reason.

    Mind blowing article! I was searching Dharma for years and I think I have landed at right place. I tried many other things, read many theories of prominent cults but could not get such clarity. Whatever you have given, is totally in sync with my inner voice. Till now, I was not able to give words to my inner voice and was not able to practice it due to lack of clarity, but thank you so much to let me know that I was in line with Vedas.
    Now I realize that what is there in you which has made you so fearless to counter the fanatic Jehadis with such force, which no other person of our time has done so far.

      Pay your attention to this great Mantra on Upasana (Samved mantra 565)
      All four Vedas, preach us three divine educations i.e., Gyankand (Rigveda) Karma kand(Yajurveda) and Upasana Kand(Samveda).
      Upasana i.e., Worship of God has especially been taught in Samveda. That is why, Yogeshwar Sri Krishna Maharaj himself praises Samveda in Bhagwad Geeta Shloka 10/22 saying Oh! Arjun, “ Vedanaam Samvedaha Asmi” i.e., in all four Vedas , I’m Samveda. Worship and the science of music, including singing of spiritual bhajans etc., is also preached in Samveda. The description of one Samveda mantra pertaining to worship (Tapasya) is mentioned below:-
      “ Pavitram Te Vitatum Brahmannaspatey Prabhurgatranni Puryeshi Vishwatah,
      Ataptatanoorna Tadaamo Ashnutey Shritaas Idvahantaha Sum Tadaashat.”
      (Samved mantra 565)
      (Brahmannaspatey) Oh! Lord of Brahma, here Brahma means Shabda Brahma i.e., for Vedas, so the mantra states Oh! Lord of Vedas i.e., God (Te) your (Pavitram) purity (Vitatum) exists everywhere (Prabhuhu) Oh! Master/Ruler, You (Paryeshi) reside (Sarvatah) everywhere i.e., in every part of (Gatranni) our body. But (Ataptatanuhu) persons who are devoid of austerity i.e., lack Tapasya (Aamaha) are unripened (Tat Na Ashnutey) are not liable to attain purity. Only (shritaasaha) the ripened (tapasvi) dignitaries (Sum Aashat) very well attain (Tat) the purity.
      Meaning:-Oh! Lord of Brahma, here Brahma means Shabda Brahma i.e., four Vedas, so the mantra states Oh! Lord of Vedas, i.e., God Your purity exists everywhere. Oh! Master/Ruler, You reside everywhere (being Omnipresent) i.e., in every part of our body. But, persons who are devoid of austerity (lack Tapasya) are unripened, so they are not liable to attain purity. Only the ripened dignitaries (tapasvis) very well attain the purity.
      Meaning:-Those who indulge completely in austerity, only they have attain purity of heart, mind and intellect and it is only in pure heart that God manifests and not in impure heart and mind.

        In the Vedas, God has been defined by several pious words based on His divine qualities. In this mantra also the word “Brahmannaspatey” applies to God. Why? Because the word “Brahma” means ‘Shabda Brahma’ i.e., Vedas and ‘Patey’ means Lord. So, Brahmannaspatey means the Lord of Vedas i.e., God. We must know that Vedas (ved mantras) have not been written by any Rishi-muni, man-woman, saint etc., it is an unchangeable law of God and universe that when creation starts automatically, the knowledge of the four Vedas, emanates directly from God and originates in the heart of four Rishis (Rigveda mantra 10/181/1,2 also refer). That is why, the God is also the Lord of four Vedas.
        In the mantra, the God has been stated as the purest. The quality of God being purest is also natural. As is also stated in Yajurveda mantra 40/8 that God is “Shuddham Apaap Viddham” i.e., (Shuddham) God is the purest (Apaap Viddham) ever away from committing sins. So, purity is the nature of God and has therefore been mentioned in the above Samveda mantra. As we know that God is Omnipresent, so His purity is also Omnipresent.
        Prabhuhu i.e., the Lord, our Master, due to His said divine quality of purity also resides in every part of our bodies. Naturally, His purity resides and effects every part of our body. Similarly, His purity is in every atom of universe which we must retain by doing Tapasya (austerity). Due to lack of Tapasya, the five senses of a person (eye, ear, nose, tongue, skin) including mind and intellect indulge in illusion. As a result, the impious deeds (sins) like violence, ravages of hatred, fundamentalism, corruption, deeds based on blind faith, insult of women, unnecessary command on others i.e., an innocents and poor etc., are being witnessed everywhere in universe. So, the main motto of human life is to do Tapasya, based on knowledge of four Vedas to retain purity within heart as well as in every atom of universe. Tapasya means
        (1) Shrutam Tapaha- to listen to Vedas and holy books which promote/teach…

    Great for the benefit for the truth seekers. Accept my thanks. In fact, all our actions whatever we do, become service (sewa) to Ishwar if done for the Ishwar’s sake instead of ourselves. Though the Parampurush doesn’t need it, it’s going to cleanse our heart (antahkaran). As our heart is cleansed, we start feeling his presence and ultimately we see him pervading everything. At this stage, there is just bliss for us, no sorrow.

      1>> Vedic GOD is not what you or I can think of. As Swami Dayanand said – I don’t worship too many GODs nor do I worship too few GODs. I worship neither million GODs nor 1 GOD. I worship the only GOD. Even by Yogic perspective, GOD is same but has many names as attributes.
      For example: शिव => नम: शिवाय शिवंकराय च नमो नमस्ते । one who does welfare of all is Shiv to be worshipped.
      राम => रमे निरंतर आत्मा सब घट आठो याम । वाहीते संतन धर्यो राम ताही को नाम ॥ one who is distributed within all spirits is known as Ram among saints.
      कृष्ण => कर्ष्यंति इति कृष्ण:। One who attracts everyone (& hence supports balance) is known as Krishna.
      All these are aspects of same almighty not individual dieties. One who calls them individual dieties does not know Vedas. Modern day worship is Non Vedic.
      2>> Tapa means due hard work & facing adversaries for benefits of humanity. How can it be shortcut to success?
      Mahabharata incident requires Yogic view: Arjun means courage to fight with enemies. Indra means soul – the master of Indriyas (organs). By tapasya (many efforts), one understands secrets of soul – beautifully mentioned as Arjuna’s tapasya to please Indra. प्रणवो धनु: शरोह्यात्मा ब्रह्मतल्लक्ष्यमुच्यते॥ The weapons which Arjuna got is related to meditation to achieve supreme knowledge NOT a physical weapon. These meditation weapons can kill vital enemies like lust, anger, jealousy etc.

    (1)Vedas say that there is only one God.So A Vedic follower does not worship Gods but only one God.And by logic if you will see,then you will find only one God and two or three or any number.
    (2)If you can get get success without tapasya then I would like to come to your home and will see how much success you can get without work.
    And also,Indra is a name of a God and not any new God.And if Arjun him worshipped him then it never means that he will give you weapons.Make a scientific research,become a scientist and thus you can make weapons otherwise never except in your dreams.

    i am a great fan of this website. but after reading this article, i m very much disappointed n hurt.
    U SAID “Not the Ramdev Baba versions popular these days. They are merely physical exercises having nothing to do with Yoga as wrongly asserted. ”
    udgeeth pranyam (chanting of om), purak, kumbhak,rechak is there in srimad Bhagvadgita too.
    by saying that” it has nothing to with yoga” ,u r pointing finger at LORD KRISHNA too.
    .i have met many people who have been cured by pranayam, which baba teaches.
    my 15 yr old sinus problem was cured withing year of practising pranayam without medicine.
    there r different limbs of yoga….1) asan 2) pranyam 3) dhyan etc
    1)asan are the physical physical postures , some of which benefits in back pain, spondylitis etc……which is done in physiotherapy too.
    2 pranaym are breathing techniques
    3 dyan is meditation,
    only meditation is not yog.

      Sorry to interrupt here but I would like to say something. The pranayam which Ramdev says might form a part of YOGA but definitely that is NOT the only YOGA. The term derives from Sanskrit root Yuj which means to combine. So, YOGA speaks of union. Even today, many Yogis think that it is a process of uniting souls with GOD. For that physical exercises don’t matter much.
      In the very beginning of Yoga Sutra, Patanjali says — योग: चित्तस्य वृत्ती निरोध:| YOGA is controlling mental thoughts. Gita which you quoted says – योग: कर्मसु कौशलं ॥ (2.50) YOGA is skill in actions. How can mere physical exercises attain all that?
      You said that Agniveer is pointing finger at Baba Ramdev. I don’t think, he is doing that. The major problem with Ramdev version is that people are looking narrow mindedly towards YOGA. YOGA which means controlling inner mind is now confined to controlling body. So, Agniveer isn’t pointing finger at any one rather he is explaining complete YOGA.
      Our goal is to: Let the body move and let the mind be still. YOGA came into existence for this reason. That’s what even Agniveer wants. Ramdeva is doing great job by reducing the need to depend on foreign medicines. But, YOGA is beyond that. Real YOGA starts from meditation and ends at supreme state – Samaadhi.

      Agniveer; no doubt is a source of rich knowledge and marching on the path to enlighten people with the message of the veda.

      Namaskaar!
      The rule of thumb says that you don’t criticize others for the mistake which you yourself are doing. Agniveer criticized Swami Ramdev and you criticized Agniveer. What is the difference between the 2? Well, you haven’t read his post clearly, Agniveer isn’t against Ramdev. He wants to conclude that Yoga is much beyond what he is teaching. Yoga Sutra is best book on YOGA. Then Pranayam must be followed from it. Whenever you do some experiment, you write the aim on top of it. Patanjali does the same about YOGA. The aim is to control mental thoughts – YOGAH CHHITTAH VRITTI NIRODHA. I haven’t seen Ramdeva practically showing how to get rid of negative mental thoughts. So, Agniveer says that NOT the Ramdev version popular these days. What’s wrong in that?

  30. Thats the major problem with indians(hindus). They just bow down to any guru and close ears or feel insult if anything goes against the so called guru. (“Dusro ki jai se pehle, Khud ko jai karein…”)
    However i appreciate baba ramdev who spread yoga, even though in a limited manner, it still helps people a lot.
    My English is not so good, so havent read the entire article, might look for Hindi or Gujarati version. Otherwise, great work by Agniveer ji as usual.

    But as i know Mahadev means devo ka dev(suprem god). Veda says there is only one suprem god(ISHWOR). So Mahadev is Ishwor or shiv jee?

    I think, You misunderstood the concept of God in Hindu Dharm.
    We Hindu believe, God is not outside off this universe,
    But one is inside of everything, including you and me.
    So we don’t need to reach to him,
    But just need to remove maya(माया) from ourselves to be isvara(ईश्वर).
    मुजे लगता है आप की ग़लती हो रही है।
    हम हिन्दु भगवान को बहार नही परंतु यह ब्रह्मांड के अंदर मानते है। वो आसपास की सभी जगह मे है। मुजमे ओर आप मे भी।

  37. Who is the greatest: Brahma, Vishnu or Shiva?
    Our Indian trinity is composed of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Brahma is the Creator, Vishnu is the Preserver and Shiva is the Transformer. According to some, Shiva is the Destroyer, but we say Transformer.
    Once it happened that pride entered into Brahma. He said to his devotees, “From now on, you have to consider me as the highest Absolute. I am not of the same standard as Vishnu and Shiva. What do they do, after all? Vishnu just preserves and Shiva only deals with demons. But I am the Creator.”
    Brahma’s devotees bowed to him, saying,
    “You are the highest.” As they were praising Brahma, Vishnu appeared. “What are you saying?” he asked the devotees.
    They replied, “Brahma has informed us that he is the highest and we are repeating his words.”
    “It can never be!” exclaimed Vishnu. “He just creates, but I take the trouble of preserving. My task is far more difficult because it goes on for years and years. My patience, compassion and forgiveness far surpass Brahma’s act of creation. It takes very little time to create, but to preserve the creation goes on indefinitely. I am the one you should be praising as the highest!”
    Brahma’s devotees did not agree with Vishnu’s reasoning at all. They stated Vishnu’s case to Brahma, and then Brahma and Vishnu began quarrelling and fighting. Their dispute went on and on.
    The four Vedas could not brook this kind of conflict. They took the form of four divine beings and stood in front of Brahma and Vishnu, who were engaged in bitter argument. The Vedas said, “We feel that Shiva is by far the best of the trinity. You two are quarrelling and fighting, but he is far above all this. Only ordinary human beings quarrel and fight in this manner.”
    At that moment, Lord Shiva was passing by. “What is going on?” he asked. Vishnu summed up the whole story: “Brahma thinks that he is the greatest and I think that I am the greatest.”

    Vishnu surrendered. “I cannot go on arguing. I will gladly proclaim that you are the greatest,” he declared.
    Shiva was highly pleased with Vishnu, but Brahma strongly opposed Shiva. He said, “I am undoubtedly the greatest. You deal only with ghosts and demons. You do not take care of your physical existence. You wear skulls around your neck. You do not believe in creation!”
    “Enough!” shouted Shiva. “I am no longer going to tolerate your insults. I challenge you to a fight!”
    As Shiva prepared to fight, a being came out of his body and said, “I will fight for you.” Brahma and this being struck each other very hard, but the being was finally able to cut off one of Brahma’s heads and Brahma fell down dead. Originally Brahma had five heads, but this being removed one of the five.
    Seeing Brahma lying lifeless on the ground, Shiva felt sad. “After all,” he said, “Brahma was once upon a time my friend. What have I done? This being and I are responsible.” So Shiva revived Brahma, but Brahma now had only four heads. Brahma immediately cursed the being: “The head that you have out off will always remain on your hand.”
    This is how Brahma’s fifth head became stuck to the hand of that being, whose name was Nandi.
    Another version of the story says that the head became stuck to Shiva’s palm. When Shiva lies down, it can be seen there.
    Yet a third version says that Nandi went from one place to another trying to dislodge Brahma’s head from his palm. Finally he went to Krishna, who advised him, “Go to Benares. It is the most sacred place of all. There the very sanctity of the place will enter into your palm, and you will see that this head will come off your hand.”
    Nandi listened to Krishna’s advice and went to Benares. As soon as he arrived in that sacred city, lo and behold, the head of Brahma left him.

  39. Part3…Shiva was very pleased with Nandi for winning the fight with Brahma. He said to Nandi, “I am so satisfied with you. You were able to kill Brahma. You are extremely powerful. I am compelling you to stay with me. From now on, you will be the leader of all the demons and ghosts that are my subjects.”
    That was how Nandi became Shiva’s chief attendant.
    Is this the concept of God in Hinduism? Fighting one another for proving supremacy. Why Vishnu and Shiva fight each other according to puranas and Veda? Awaiting your reply!

    Great entertaining story. There are many more entertaining story in India written by ancient people of India . I used to watch T.V. serial Mahadev on life Okey. After ending of each story there was a moral. I watched the Mahabharat and Ramayan also. These are great and oldest epic of the world. Every person of Indian should have proud of their oldest literature.

    – Thank you for clarifying this part. There are some Yoga teachers who falsely believe “Brahmacharya” means to live a life without sex. And from what I intuitively knew that was not the case. It is a lot more clear and makes sense when Brahmacharya is properly defined as being moral. It doesn’t mean being celibate, but to have control over yourself and live a moral life. The key word you used was ‘lecherous’. Lecherous doesn’t mean not to have sex, but “having or showing excessive or offensive sexual desire.” Well said.

  43. Most of these written in the article are from Vedas i accept but interpretations have no Vedic sanctions. there is no such thing as nirguna stuti. Just saying that God is attribute less is nirguna stuti? Do not oversimplify religion and do not make Hinduism conform to abrahamic concept of hatred against idols etc.
    Even Om (aum) is the mantra of paramatma (the soul of Vishnu, Shiva and Durga). Even in the chandass of Aum and Om Namo narayana ;the devata is same (paramatma). All Vedic prayers are dedicated to gods and godesses. If there are some references to paramatma or Parabrahma, it is chanted in temples dedicated to saguna forms of God (Durga, Vishnu and Shiva).
    If Brahmins want to follow real Vedic religion, they should perform sandhyavandana, brahmacharis should sacrifice chamata sticks in fire, married men should perform oupasana homa and vyswadewa and pancha mahayajna. All the 16 shodasha karma need to be performed correctly. Vedas should be chanted per seeksha rules and dedicated to Gods and Godesses.
    This meditation- vipassana??? and modern spirituality will not lead to salvation . They are deviations from true dharma.
    Also who is Ishwar? Ishwar is common name for lord Shiva or Lord Vishnu or Godess . If nirguna Brahmam is meant the correct word must be Bramham.
    Bramham meditation can be done only by sinless . Only those who have performed karma has right to abandon it. Adi Sankara asked disciples to worship saguna Gods and Godessess even though they were capable to do Bramham meditation like nitidhyasa and nirvikalpa.

    For Kshatriya:-

    Marriages 6,7 and 8 are NOT APPLICABLE to humans. 6th is Asura marriage where a man pays money to father in law and takes bride. This is nowadays happening amongst muslims
    7,8 as you said done by Rakshasas (Demons) and pisachas (some kind of premitive demon like creatures)
    Asuras by the way are superior to rakshasas. Hiranyakasipu , hiranyaksh are descedndants of sage Kashyapa and Diti (hence those asuras are called Daityas – Diti’s descendants)
