Quick transformation with Gayatri Mantra

This entry is part [part not set] of 14 in the series Self-Help

A Problem with the Vedas

I was once asked which is my favorite mantra from Vedas. I said ‘Agne Vratapate…’. A few days later the question came again. This time it was ‘Trayambakam Yajamahe…’. Next time it was something else and today it is something else. This is a curious problem with Vedas. Each mantra is like a sweet ocean of knowledge. More you dwell into it, more you feel liberated, more you get that feeling of serendipity, that feeling of ecstasy, joy, being enthused and what not! Words fail to describe it beyond a point!

Contemplation on each mantra makes one feel as if this mantra alone contains more insights than rest of the world put together! There is nothing more joyful in world than diving into the essence of any Vedic mantra. And when the untrained mind returns back to the mundane world it finds life much of meaningful and purposeful. And next time when it chances to dive into another mantra, it finds yet another ocean of peerless bliss. That is why it is impossible to stick to one particular mantra as a favorite mantra. Each mantra has such depths of meanings that it appears as if the whole life would be insufficient to reach the bottom!

Benefits of Vedic Mantras

Our seers strongly recommended contemplation on Vedic mantras as essential duty of all Arya or noble persons. The reasons are simple:

a. There is absolutely nothing more refreshing and relaxing that contemplation on Vedic mantras.

b. There is no better brain tonic than getting deeper and deeper into essence of Vedic mantras.

c. The benefits of Vedic mantras do not lie merely in the final conclusion of Vedic mantras, but in the very process of trying to get up to that conclusion.

d. Finally, to understand Vedic mantras require not only logical analysis, but also use of emotions and practical implementation. It thus provides a holistic foolproof recipe for the panacea that all the self-help books of the world try to achieve.

Now each mantra of Vedas has a wide scope and depth of meaning. Some mantras may not be easy to approach for beginners considering their current level of mind-training and knowledge. But there are certain mantras which are like desi cow’s milk. They benefit one and all and hence recommended by seers as necessary ingredient of daily life.

One of the most prominent of such mantras is the celebrated Gayatri Mantra. Such is the glory of this mantra that seers recommend that if someone studies nothing else in Vedas but contemplates only on Gayatri, that is also sufficient to take one to next level of evolution. We shall briefly discuss this amazing Mantra in this post and try to understand what makes it so amazing.

Q: What is the meaning of Gayatri Mantra?

A: We shall try to understand Gayatri Mantra as in Yajurveda 36.3:

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः तत् सवितुर्वरेण्यं । भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि । धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥

tát savitúr váreṇyaṃ bhárgo devásya dhīmahi dhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyāt

You can find the detailed meaning from Chapter 3 of Satyarth Prakash or Light of Truth. We provide the essence here:

Literal Meaning of Gayatri Mantra

O One and Only One Ultimate Omnipotent Omniscient Ishwar!

You are Bhoo – the foundation of life in entire universe and unborn! You are dearer than life because life is sustained by you!

You are Buvah – completely devoid of sorrow. When we achieve you, all our sorrows vanish away.

You are Swah – the sustainer and maintainer of entire world and provider of all the bliss.

You are Savituh – the creator of entire world and provide us all the prosperities

You are Devah – who only gives and gives and never takes anything. Who is desired by all. Who is Brilliant, Who is enlightening!

Varenyam – You alone are worth being accepted. There is nothing except you that is worthwhile. When you are achieved, everything is achieved. And when you are not achieved, nothing is achieved. Because you are the source of everything.

Bhargah – You are pure and without any imperfections. You are the ultimate cleanser. Nothing unclean remains when one achieves you. You represent the most perfect state of purity!

Tat – Such are your characteristics that nothing else apart from you is worthwhile.

Dheemahi – We only accept you through our intellect. We utilize our power of thinking to think of you alone.

Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat – Because it is you who has and who will enlighten our intellect. It is only you who will lead us from wrong towards right, from miseries towards bliss, from impurity towards purity, from Adharma towards Dharma, from hatred towards love, from evil deeds towards noble efforts.

Overall Meaning of Gayatri Mantra

O dearest Ishwar, you are the most capable, you alone are full of bliss, you are perfect in all manner, you are unchangeable, you are unborn, you are undying, you love us so much, you give us birth, you care for us 24*7*365 from eternity to eternity, you alone are worth being loved.

You alone are worth being admired. You alone are worth being aspired. You only give and give and there is nothing that we can give you. Even this intellect through which we admire you and through which we enjoy all the blessings you have showered upon us in form of prosperity and bliss has been gifted by you.

O dearest Ishwar, there is no way we can repay you for all your kindness and love and care.

So we humbly promise only one thing – that this intellect which you have gifted us, we shall direct this intellect towards you.

We shall contemplate upon you alone because it is you who gave us this power to contemplate. You have enlightened us and we shall seek only you through this enlightenment.

We shall establish a direct connection with you and have no agents in between. We will use all the resources you have bestowed upon us through this magnificent creation to only seek you.

We shall not be affected by what happens in our surroundings, we shall not be affected by temporary instincts of pleasure and happiness, we shall not be affected by temporary loss, profit, happiness, sorrow, praises and insults and remain defiant in seeking you and you alone through our minds, our intellect and all the action we perform through this intellect.

The Universal Law of Gayatri and how to apply it in life!

Gayatri teaches us a fundamental universal law. If we direct the output of a system back to the source, the outputs are further magnified. This law is applicable everywhere – machines, economics, mathematics, society, inter-personal relations.

“Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi Dhiyo Yo Na Prachodayaat” says that if the system is such that there is

Bhargo — the system is without any inefficiency or disorder, the way Ishwar is

Devasya – the source does not keep share for itself and only gives out back whatever is inputted into it.

Dhiyo and Dheemahi come from same root word. Thus if we direct our output (intellect) 100% back to source of intellect, we make it a perfect system causing us to achieve ultimate bliss.

Those who have studied thermodynamics would have read about perpetual machines. The only reason they do not work is because there are inefficiencies in process of energy conversion. Lesser the inefficiency, more the time that the machine works. This analogy also explains our position in this creation. More we direct our intellect towards Ishwar, more we receive His bliss. And when that crosses a threshold we achieve salvation.Similarly, more we direct our attention to study of source of our knowledge – the Vedas – more the bliss we shall obtain for humanity.

The recipe to get rid of all worries, all miseries, all doubts and all negative thoughts and challenges in life is thus very simply summarized in Gayatri Mantra. Simply think of the Ultimate, simply dedicate all thoughts, words and actions to Him alone. Put your best efforts and leave the rest to Him and He shall manage the rest in best possible manner as He is doing even right now!

Doubt: If we only keep thinking about Ishwar as per Gayatri, how do we manage our day to day tasks. For example, if instead of fighting in a battle, the soldier thinks of Ishwar will he not get killed?

A: The doubt only comes when we misunderstand the characteristics of Ishwar. This problem as indicated would come only to those who consider Ishwar to be limited in time and space. Those who think that Ishwar is in a person, body, structure or above skies or sitting on a throne would fail to achieve both Ishwar and success in mundane life without using cheat-codes! Because such a God is different from rest of the world. You can thus be either Godly or worldly.

The concept of Ishwar, as opposed to such a limited God as described above, is much more intuitive and rational. The Vedic Ishwar is everywhere. He is within us and He is outside us. He is in our books, our clothes, plants, our body, our enemies, our friends, our food, our football, our laptop everywhere. Now obviously when such is the Ishwar, thinking about Ishwar does not mean as explained in the doubt. Since Vedic Ishwar is everywhere and without any agents, you are not supposed to think of anything or any person specially or in addition to Ishwar. Since Vedic Ishwar is everywhere, worship of Ishwar lies not in any ritual of Puja or Havan or Namaaz or Prayer but each act as per its purposefulness.

In Vedic parlance, meditating upon Ishwar means to enhance our understanding that it is Ishwar who is managing the whole show and giving us opportunity to reap benefits as per our free will. He is everywhere. When a yogi progresses with such heightened understanding of world around, worship of Ishwar actually means putting efforts to use every gift of Ishwar in best possible manner by use of our intellect.

So it is worship and meditation of Ishwar when a vedic soldier puts full concentration in fighting the enemy, or a Vedic student puts all his mental and physical energies to study and understand the concepts of his subject. Doing whatever you are doing in best possible manner is the true worship of Ishwar as per Gayatri Mantra. And better the focus, better the outcome. More you understand that its not the exam that you are giving, or it is not the war that you are fighting, or it is not the workout you are doing; it is your worship of Ishwar for a higher goal. It is your exemplification of Gayatri Mantra.

Reject all agents between you and Ishwar,
Reject your attachment to fruits of action,
Reject the belief that destiny is not smiling on you,
Reject the belief that you need to do any particular ritual to please Ishwar or change destiny,
Reject all those predictions of palmists and astrologers and their gems,
Reject all those tendencies of looking at planets before starting a noble mission,
Reject the feeling of you being weak compared to an unjust system

and

Simply assert your direct relationship with Ishwar by dedicating all thoughts, words and actions to Him and to fulfill His provided in Vedas as well as your own voice of soul.

Reject even the tendencies of untrained mind that tries to silence that voice of soul by urging you to follow old sinful patterns of purposeless fun and greed.
And reject even the feeling of remorse or guilt that arises after we realize that we acted against our voice of soul (Ishwar’s inspiration) for petty reasons.
Reject all these and become a Vedic warrior committed ONLY to focusing all thoughts ONLY on ONE and ONLY ONE Ishwar and none else.
None means no other demigod, no other prophet, no other worldly thing, not even wasteful thoughts of mind.

This practice of absolute focus on Ishwar brings the wonder that no other thing or concept of ideology or person can ever bring for you!

This is the meaning and essence of the wonderful Gayatri Mantra!

Doubt: Does it mean meditation is meaningless if we are focusing on our immediate tasks as described above?

A: It depends. For a yogi, since he is perfectly in a tranquil meditative state in all his actions, separate meditation would not be necessary. But for rest of us, who are prone to fluctuations of tendencies of mind like anger, fear, desire, lust, hatred, ego, boredom etc, we need to prepare ourselves to reach that stage of constant meditation. For them separate meditation on properties of Ishwar, purpose of our life, our own nature is of utmost importance. This is the time when you try to realize Ishwar, Self and our purpose BEYOND the push-and-pull of daily worldly life or Duniyadaari.

Experts recommend at least 2 hours of such meditation along with disciplined life for those desperately seeking salvation and ultimate bliss. But this meditation is not a mind-blankening exercise. It is an attempt to develop intellectual and emotional connect with the Supreme Entity. We shall discuss the science and art of meditation sometime later. For now, I recommend visiting http://darshanyog.org and reading their books.

Outcome of Gayatri Self-Help

In summary, Gayatri contains the entire mechanism of blissful living in it. I have been meditating on Gayatri for some time now, and each time I discover a new meaning and feel which is beyond by ability to express in words. But the net output are following:

a. Eradication of fear, frustration, tension, doubts and miseries

b. Revival of peak enthusiasm and vigour

c. Realignment of priorities and goals

d. Emergence of new improved ideas, plans and visions

e. Sense of extreme peace and love with self and world

etc etc. All wonderful things you can think of and aspire for!

A practice exercise on Gayatri (Note: The changes could be unimaginable!)

Step 1: Read the meaning of Gayatri mantra as given in this post.

Step 2: Read Gayatri Mantra meaning from Chapter 3 of Satyarth Prakash (preferably Hindi) and study Chapter 7,8,9 of Satyarth Prakash. Take 4-5 hours to complete these two steps. Then keep reviewing from time to time.

Step 3: Listen to the brief Gayatri mantra with meaning attached with this post.

Step 4: Devote 30 minutes daily to contemplate on Gayatri Mantra after Step 3. You can split in 10 minutes each in morning, evening and before sleep.

This may appear mechanical for few days but continue the same for at least 2-3 weeks. Try to feel the meaning and develop emotional connect rather than sticking to each word of the mantra. Let your mind wander to explore more insights beyond the words and try getting lost into the bliss you get. Do not use force but allow mind to calm down and experience the feel. Even if mind drifts and thousands of thoughts come up, stay calm and do not be perturbed. Ignore them rather than force them out and simply focus on feeling the Gayatri. You can use the music of Gayatri bhajan to start with focus or other feelings that come up within you. Enjoy the whole process. In night time, you can sit down on your bed, start submerging into feel of Gayatri, and then gradually slip into sleeping position and keep having the fun till you get into sleep.

Step 5: You would find shifts in your likes and dislikes and views of things. Instead of forcing your ego, flow with your inner voice.

In two to three weeks, you will find a tremendous change in you in terms of sharpened thinking process, intuitiveness, enhanced feeling of confidence and self-sufficiency, things going right much more in life, better inter-personal relationships, enhanced magnetism in personality and a lot more.

This is not magic or miracle in conventional sense. What you would have done in this process is to align yourself with your natural path and derive best benefits from Law of Karma. You have performed a cleansing action on your mind to eradicate negative thought patterns and replaced with the most positive vibes.

Imagine! If this be the miracle in just 15 days *30 minutes, what would the level when one does so for entire life, and with many many more mantras of Vedas and with much more dedication! He would turn into a Ram, Krishna, Patanjali or Dayanand!

Another important point

Gayatri Mantra is in first person plural. This clearly means that bliss of Ishwar does not come in isolation. Whatever you do, you have to rise beyond the ‘Me’ and do for ‘We’. Your goal is not bliss for ‘Me’ but bliss for ‘We’. All your acts and thoughts and words should be for benefit of all souls and not only for you. This feeling of ‘Idanna Mama’ or ‘Nothing personal’ is essence of Vedas and Gayatri.

So if this works for you, you have to ensure it works for as many people you can make it work. And you have to work for uplift of entire humanity. Also note that Gayatri and Vedas is all about self-realization. So there is no concept of force or compulsion to thrust these concepts upon others. You simply love and care for everyone just as mother cow loves its calf!

So enjoy Gayatri, enjoy life and make world a better place! This is the best self-help course you can ever get on this planet!

Some intellectual questions:

Q: Why is this mantra called Gayatri?

A: A technical question not much relevant here. But the word Gayatri refers to the Chhanda or prosody or the way it can be pronounced. Vedic mantras have a variety of Chhandas and the name Gayatri is derived from there.

Q: Is Gayatri Mantra prohibited for ladies?

A: No mantra of Vedas is prohibited for any person regardless of birth or gender. Everyone has equal rights over knowledge of Ishwar in same manner as light of sun. Those who state that women have no rights over Vedas are the greatest enemies of humanity. On contrary, there are mantras in Vedas which state that it is more important that women possess Vedic wisdom because they are the first teachers of next generation.

Q: What about Shudras?

A: Firstly, Shudra refers to lack of education and not any birth-based classification. Those who oppose this, again, are greatest enemies of humanity. Secondly, someone who understands Vedas does not remain a Shudra at all. So everyone has full rights over Gayatri Mantra.

Q: Should Gayatri be adopted from a Guru?

A: This Gurudom is another great nuisance plaguing society. Somewhere we have gurus, somewhere prophets, somewhere babas, somewhere peer-fakir trying to be agents of God. It is always good to understand Vedas from knowledgeable persons. But in absence of them, Ishwar is the ultimate guru and presence of any agent between soul and Ishwar is completely unnecessary. So do not wait for a Guru and make Ishwar your ultimate Guru. And if you find a knowledgeable person to help clarify your concepts, take full benefits from him but never with blind faith. Mortal Guru should never supersede the Ultimate Guru or Ishwar

Q: In which Veda does Gayatri come?

A: We find Gayatri Mantra in Rigveda 3.62.10, Yajurveda 3.35, 22.9, 30.2 and 36.3. The meanings of the mantra are largely the same with some differences depending upon the context of the Hymn or Sukta.

Q: What if this Gayatri recipe does not work for me?

A: The Gayatri recipe on this post comes with money-back guarantee! Just kidding! But that is how many self-help courses sell. What we have provided is a scientific systematic process. It has to work. If it does not, you need to revisit Chapter 3,7,8,9 of Satyarth Prakash. Comment here for any doubts and we would be glad to help. Make sure you try to maintain unity in thoughts, words and actions. Avoid meat, alcohol and vulgar/romantic movies etc for the period. Keep healthy routine – thats it.

Remember that we are trying to go towards our original nature. Anything unnatural may deter you. But if laugh of an innocent child makes you happy, or you find it natural to love your mother, or feel obliged when someone takes pain to help you without selfish interests, then you are human enough to ensure that this will quickly work for you!

Reclaim your ultimate bliss!

    • @Agniveer

If this great Vedic Mantra would be in Hindi, a lot of people can take benefit of this & would be able to understand depth of Veda which is exact goal of this site. I think first priority should be to inspire the people to get Veda knowledge and translation of Vedic mantra in this way as you have given Gayatri Mantra translation would be easiest way to inspire the people to get vedic knowledge. Please do translate in Hindi all Mantra on this website .

      • @Agniveer/Other Veda scholar
Now am getting desperate & want this Mantra in Hindi to give my friends, colleague, relatives etc just as a glimpse of Veda’s divinity to inspire the people return towards Veda again.

      • Truth Seeker

Bro why don’t you take this initiative to translate this mantra in Hindi and mail it to Agniveer admins. Don’t you think everybody should contribute to this Yajna?

      • There are many so called intellectuals in Hinduism who have spread ill about Veda like Veda are very difficult, Veda are not for this era, Veda are not for all because they themselves do not know ABC of Veda & just limited themselves in Puran, Mahabharat & Ramayan & Miracle stories & they do want to other to get knowledge of Veda.

    • @Agniveer/Vedic Scholar
What is difference between Mantra and Shaloka. How can we address something as a Shalok or Mantra?

  2. Dear Agniveer ji,

    Pranam Mahoday,

Very brilliant article, I express my deep sense of gratitude for you on behalf of all the persons who sincerely follows Sanatan Dharma. “Krinvantu Vishwamaryam”,

    Dhanyavad,

  3. Hi Agniveer,

I would like to know your views on current Indian situation specially on the riots that are going-on in West Bengal [Deganga provience]

  4. AGNI JI KO NAMASTY
    Respected Agni ji
Take My Heartiest Congratulations on This topic
But I want to ask one question to ….
that if a person like Pt. Sri ram Sharma achrya spread the message of Vedas by making a path between Arya Samaj and Sanathan Dharma is good for Hindu society or not .. Because he made idol of GAYATRI MA but he defined it “ to just follow it in the begging of spiritual journey”. It is right or wrong. Please enlighten me on this topic
    dhanywad

    • Pt. Ram sharma had fooled many hindus in name of Gayatri. He had made millions of rupees by taking advantage of people’s faith. Worshiping any other imaginary things (Idol worship etc.) than Parmatma is not fruitful. So according to me, he was deluding the mass.

      • Pt shri Ram Sharma Acharya is a great saint. If you want to know about him, please let me know. But please do not use any language that insult my Guru..

      • I think, you are not aware about “VEDMURTI TAPONISTH PANDIT SHRI RAM SHARMA ACHARYA” who was a great “SIDDHA SADHAK OF GAYATRI”. Yes, if you do not know, you should comments like this.

      • Idol worship is not that, what you think. Idol worships is also as good as other worships. God is beyond the borders of images, visible, invisible, mantra, songs, shloks and many more. The whole universe is the manifestation of God. If god is in mantras, yagyas, sai baba, Isa Masih, Allaha etc., then how one can deny the existence of God in idols. If God is in our faith and love, he is every where whether that is mantra or idols, and if he is not in our faith and love he is nowhere.

      • God in Idol but Idol is not God. Universe is not manifestation of God but manifestation of Primordial matter (Prakariti). God exist everywhere in this universe because this universe existed in God. Prakriti is inert. God and Soul are conscious. Prakriti is inherent cause of universe, God is efficient cause, and souls are consumers.

      • mantradheenantu daiwatam. Meaning God (Daiwa) is adheen of mantras. Using mantras and agama- tantra principles, God’s presence is established in idol.

Suppose souls which has consciousness, can take body and mind which is part of prakriti and we identify that person by his body and mind, why not God assume body using same prakriti?

      • @Hindu

___________mantradheenantu daiwatam. Meaning God (Daiwa) is adheen of mantras__________

Do not bring false things. This is nowhere written in Veda, Darshan & Upnishad. Soul can take the body because soul can be only one place at a time.
        Read Shankhya Darshan.

  5. I find the mantras to be consistent with Quran and bible as such i believe in it. Surely, God will show the truth to the people and surely the religion of God will become victorious against the disbeliever of God and his commandments.

  6. Agniveer Ji,
Proud of you. Before visiting the site I was almost LOST. But After visiting I regained myself. Eashwar will bless you. Keep the good work going on. I will try my best to propagate this informative/enlightening site to my collegues/friends.

    Thanks once again.
Proud to be a part of Vedic Dharma.
    Naveen

  7. Gayatri teaches us a fundamental universal law. If we direct the output of a system back to the source, the outputs are further magnified.

How does this law work in relation to the second law of thermodynamics? Does The Universal Law of Gayatri mean that if one takes a closed system with two sub-systems which have low entropy (i.e they have orderliness) where the output of one is fed back to the other, the entropy of the entire closed system will actually decrease?

    • Anir
You would have heard about enhancing of knowledge while teaching or thinking. However It is utter foolishness to compare things like knowledge, morality with physical energy. Tell me, when you start loving anyone, your love starts growing with each moment. Can you apply laws of thermodynamics on love? If not, is love false or imaginary?

Dear friend, you dont understand even the thermodynamics. All the principles of thermodynamics are applicable to PHYSICAL ENERGY only! Can you compare love, morality, desire, knowledge with physical energy? No. Will you start complaining your wife/husband that her/his love is not following second law of thermodynamics and it is growing on regular basis without doing much of external work?

BTW, just to test your scientific skills, can you explain me what is actually meant by ENTROPY?

      • @Arya Bro
“Will you start complaining your wife/husband that her/his love is not following second law of thermodynamics and it is growing on regular basis without doing much of external work?” LOL

      • @आर्यव्रतस्थ
        Namaste Brother
Dont you think that just like we have people having superstition in religion, in similar way, there are many who blindly believe in something which they wrongly interpret as “science”? Interesting is that science never claims itself to be able to shed light on the things like love, compassion and morality, but its blind followers unfortunately try to do so!

      • @ Anir & Arya : Actually you are right, its would not be science,i mistakenly expanded the horizon of the term “Science” to include AtmaGnyan and was unknowingly degrading the latter by referring it with the term that applies only in the material aspect of the universe.
And yes Vedas are infallible wrt AtmaGnyan and Science (to the extent and detail its present in it)
There is NO blind Belief involved.

        Om Tat Sat

      • I asked a rather simple question. The reason I asked it is because of these statements:

Gayatri teaches us a fundamental universal law. If we direct the output of a system back to the source, the outputs are further magnified. This law is applicable everywhere – machines, economics, mathematics, society, inter-personal relations.

It made the specific claims about the PHYSICAL WORLD. So, if you can’t answer my question, don’t setup strawmen arguments.

  8. Namaste Agniveer Ji,
1.I have query that you have said reject all the rituals to please God. Than doing havan also a kind of ritual. Than why Arya Samaji or Scholar of Veda advise of doing havan daily. Why Havan necessary to please Ishwar. Why God will by happy by burning of wood in havan Vedi.
    2. If I do Havan and I do not know meaning of Mantra than havan will be success. As I do not know meaning properly. But I chant the Mantra.
    Please reply me.

    • @Vishal
      Namaste Brother

      1. Rejection of all rituals which claim to please God are to be rejected because no act can please or displease God, neither God needs praises. Purpose of Havan is not to please God, please remember that. Havan purifies the environment and compensates the effect of poisonous materials which we throw into atmosphere every single moment. Havan is must for purification. We chant Mantras while performing Havan to seek help from Eeshvar (which helps us destroy our false egos), one can do it in mind no problem.

Another thing which Havan symbolizes is selflessness. We chant “Idam Na Mam” after each Mantra which means “not for me but for others”.

So Havan hits two targets with one bullet, creates selflessness along with purification of environment. In both cases, it is only souls which get benefit, not God.

      2. Your Havan will be a success in terms of purifying the environment. Chanting Mantras without feelings will not help anyone except having some vocal exercise for him/her.

      Dhanyawad

      • @Vishal
Brother, Sorry for the typo! Please read the first line of my previous comment as

“All rituals which claim to please God are to be rejected ….”

        and not

“Rejection of all rituals which claim to please God are to be rejected ….”

  9. Namaste Agniveer Ji,
I would like to share with you an scientific article on Gayatri Mantra which i found on internet when I was searching meaning of Gayatri Mantra. Please Agniveer Ji, you must read the script and analyze and post your comment.
    The Article is:-

Gayatri mantra has been bestowed the greatest importance in Vedic dharma. This mantra has also been termed as Savitri and Veda-Mata, the mother of the Vedas. The literal meaning of the mantra is:

God! You are Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Almighty.
You are all Light. You are all Knowledge and Bliss.
You are Destroyer of fear; You are Creator of this Universe,
You are the Greatest of all. We bow and meditate upon your light.
You guide our intellect in the right direction.

The mantra, however, has a great scientific import too, which somehow got lost in the literary tradition. The modern astrophysics and astronomy tell us that our Galaxy called Milky Way or Akash-Ganga contains approximately 100,000 million of stars. Each star is like our sun having its own planet system. We know that the moon moves round the earth and the earth moves round the sun along with the moon. All planets round the sun.

Each of the above bodies revolves round at its own axis as well. Our sun along with its family takes one round of the galactic centre in 22.5 crore years. All galaxies including ours are moving away at a terrific velocity of 20,000 miles per second. And now the alternative scientific meaning of the mantra step-by-step:

    Om bhur bhuvah swah:
Bhur the earth, bhuvah the planets (solar family), swah the Galaxy. We observe that when an ordinary fan with a speed of 900 RPM (rotations Per minute) moves, it makes noise. Then, one can imagine, what great noise would be created when the galaxies move with a speed of 20,000 miles per second.
This is what this portion of the mantra explains that the sound produced due to the fast-moving earth, planets and galaxies is Om. The sound was heard during meditation by Rishi Vishvamitra, who mentioned it too their colleagues. All of them, then unanimously decided to call this sound Om the name of God, because this sound is available in all the three periods of time, hence it is set (permanent). Therefore, it was the first ever-revolutionary idea to identify formless God with a specific title (form) called upadhi. Until that time, everybody recognized God as formless and nobody was prepared to accept this new idea. In the Gita also, it is said, “Omiti ekaksharam Brahma”, meaning that the name of the Supreme is Om, which contains only one syllable (8/12). This sound Om heard during samadhi was called by all the seers nada-Brahma a very great noise), but not a noise that is normally beyond a specific amplitude and limits of decibels suited to human hearing. Hence the rishis called this sound Udgith musical sound of the above, i.e., heaven. They also noticed that the infinite mass of galaxies moving with a velocity of 20,000 miles/second was generating a kinetic energy= 1/2MV2 (Newton’s second law) and this was balancing the total energy consumption of the cosmos. Hence they named it Pranavah, which means the body (vapu) or storehouse of energy (prana).

    Tat savitur varenyam:
Tat that (God), savitur the sun (star), varenyam worthy of bowing or respect. Once the form of a person along with the name is known to us, we may locate the specific person. Hence the two titles (upadhi) provide the solid ground to identify the formless God, Vishvamitra suggested. He told us that we could know (realize) the unknowable formless God through the known factors, viz., sound Om and light of suns (stars).
A mathematician can solve an equation x2+y2=4; if x=2; then y can be known and so on. An engineer can measure the width of a river even by standing at the riverbank just by drawing a triangle. So was the scientific method suggested by Vishvamitra in the mantra in the next portion as under.

    Bhargo devasya dheemahi:
Bhargo the light, devasya of the deity, dheemahi we should meditate. The Rishi instructs us to meditate upon the available form (light of suns) to discover the formless Creator (God). Also he wants us to do Japam of the word Om (this is understood in the Mantra) . This is how the sage wants us to proceed, but there is a great problem to realize it, as the human mind is so shaky and restless that without the grace of the Supreme (Brahma) it cannot be controlled. Hence Vishvamitra suggests the way to pray Him as under.

    Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat:
Dhiyo (intellect), yo (who), nah (we all), prachodayat (guide to right Direction). O God! Deploy our intellect on the right path.

Full scientific interpretation of the Mantra:
The earth (bhur), the planets (bhuvah), and the galaxies (swah) are moving at a very great velocity, the sound produced is Om, (the name of formless God.) That God (tat), who manifests Himself in the form of light of suns (savitur) is worthy of bowing / respect (varenyam). We all, therefore, should meditate (dheemahi) upon the light (bhargo) of that deity (devasya) and also do chanting of Om. May He (yo) guide in right direction (prachodayat) our (nah) intellect (dhiyo).

So we notice that the important points hinted in the mantra are:-

    1) The total kinetic energy generated by the movement galaxies acts as an umbrella and balances the total energy consumption of the cosmos. Hence it was named as the Pranavah (body of energy). This is equal to 1/2 mv2 (Mass of galaxies x velocity)

    2) Realizing the great importance of the syllable OM, the other later date religions adopted this word with a slight change in accent, viz., amen(in Christianity) and Ameen(in Islam).

    3) The God could be realized through the saguna (gross), upasana (method), i.e.,
    (a) by chanting the name of the supreme as OM and
    (b) by meditating upon the light emitted by stars (suns).

    My Further analysis:
As we all know, Sound is a longitudinal wave and thus cant be created in the absence of matter (i.e. air or water) or in just Vacuum. So, what exactly did sage VishwaMitra hear?
My answer goes like this: Each object having any mass has a particular and unique resonant frequency. It is at this frequency at which the object will vibrate when force is applied on it. When the resonant frequency of 2 bodies close to each other match then vibration in one will cause vibration in the other too. This will cause efficient transfer of energy from the vibrating body to the inert one. This applies to the earth, Sun and the Milky Way Galaxy and any other thing, which has mass. But still no sound unless there is matter.

Stephen Hawking wrote in his “Brief History of Time”; when the Big bang theory is analyzed taking into consideration Einstein’s theory of relativity and the diminishing Doppler shift observed by Edwin Hubble; it can be understood that 95% of the mass of the Universe is filled with what scientists call ‘Dark Matter’. It’s the remaining 5% mass that composes the all the stars and galaxies. This also explains the diminishing speed of expansion after the Big bang. This matter is called ‘Dark’ since its presence and effect on all other observable bodies such as stars and galaxies through gravity and the Strong Nuclear force (2 out of the 4 forces defined by Einstein) can be observed. Yet we haven’t been able to directly detect the presence of this matter.
My understanding is that when Vishwamitra’s mind reached the frequency of resonance of the Milky way, he was able to hear the vibrations made by it in the presence of the otherwise undetectable ‘Dark’ Matter. In this equilibrium he then acts as the receiver of energy from the Milky Way. He then declared that it was these vibrations that he felt physically (not through ears) and mentally as the sound of ‘OM’(that’s why it has only one syllable) . That is why he asks as to pray for the lights of the Stars (Suns or Savitur) and the Sound of OM(we have to try reaching that resonant frequency to receive the energy). No wonder Gayatri Mantra is declared as the giver of immense energy (Energy of 100,000 Suns-greater than any nuclear bomb).
Here, there is a beautiful demonstration of the unification of in depth physics, mathematics and spirituality into one form. The form of the formless God.

Gayatri (Sanskrit: gāyatrī) is the feminine form of gāyatra, a Sanskrit word for a song or a hymn. It can be:-
    • The name of a Vedic poetic meter of 24 syllables (three lines of eight syllables each or 3 padas of 8 syllables ), see Vedic meter.
    • Any hymn composed in this meter.
This is just the Tip of the IceBerg. Let there be light.

The Vedic scriptures have pronounced that
ANY PERSON WITHOUT SHUKRANU IS BARRED FROM RECITING THE GAYATRI MANTRA. What is Shukranu in a person ? Shukranu is the Karaka tatva of Shukra & Swatva in a Human being , whose grossest form in the Human Body is what Science terms as Sperms in a Male body AND Eggs in a Female body.
Any person devoid of these ( i.e EUNUCHS ) are barred from reciting this mantra.

Women and Gayatri mantra — Always allowed.
Nice writeup on Scientific meaning of Gayatri mantra, except for the Women NOt allowed part. Read this.
    Q. Are women entitled to take up Gayatri Sadhana?
Ans. For countering the oft-repeated arguments against women’s right to Gayatri worship, let us try to understand the basic principles of ancient Indian culture. It propounds a global religion, for the entire humanity. Nowhere does it support the illogical inequalities based on differentiation of caste, sex etc.
The code of conduct in Hindu religion assigns equality of status to all human beings in all respects with unity and compassion as its basic tenets. Thus, the abridgement of natural human civil and religious rights of women is, therefore, not in conformity with authentic Indian spiritual tradition. On the contrary, Hindu culture regards the female of human species as superior to its male counterpart. How could then the wise sages of India deprive the women of practice of Gayatri Sadhana? The spirit of Indian ethos is totally against any such discrimination. Gayatri is accessible to every individual of human species. Any thought or belief contrary to this concept is sheer nonsense and should not be given any importance.
    Q. What are the basic reasons for the antiwomen stance of some sects in India?
Ans. During the medieval period there occurred overall degeneration and corruption in Indian society. Resources and power were usurped by a handful of corrupt rulers who ruthlessly exploited the poor and the downtrodden to fulfil their coffers and maintain a high style of living. It was the period of high tideof corrupt practices. Bonded labour, keeping concubines, abduction, feudal wars, mass-murders and so many other vices took deep roots in the society. The scholars dependent on the feudal lords were force, or to write and insert spurious verses in the ancient scriptures to please their masters .Women, too, could not escape this oppression.

“Hindu culture regards the female of human species as superior to its male counterpart.” Very true indeed since are bestowed with the power and will not just to create but to nurture life after creation till it can stand byitself. Thus as I mentioned Women were not supposed to enchant the gayathri manthra since they were already considered an epitome of energy. But in Kaliyug, soul has no gender and hence women can enchant this mantra. We(men) are supposed to be at the receiving end of energy from them. Thats why “gāyatra”, a Sanskrit word for a song or a hymn is taken in its the feminine form Gayatri. Its obvious that the sages cant deprive women of this sadhana since in Hinduism Women themselves can be sages. Thats why the word “Rishi” the sanskrit word for sage, doent have any gender. It only means “wise being” or “the ultimate self”. In the Rig Veda hymn 10.121,the source of “all powers and existences, divine as well as earthly,”is identified as a golden embryo (hiranyagarba),but it is water which “gave birth to worship”.And in hymn 10.129,creation begins with emptiness taking the shape of an egg and then,”through heat and desire, the One evolves and somehow becomes a creative duality, male and female.” These two hymns contain the concerns of Hindu philosophical fertility:heat and desire, duality, water and other facillitators of birth.Goddesses are not only strongly associated with but often personify and embody the forces of nature,or prakrti. In the Devi-mahatmya,Devi is called “the supreme, original, untransformed prakrti,”and Ganga Mata is both “Nature (prakrti) supreme” and the embodiment of sakti(energy),specifically “the creative energy that generates and continues to activate the universe.”

Please dont confuse this topic with Women’s rights among Hindus. That is a totally diffrent line and would be diverting the topic. We must 1st undersatnd what is said before countering it.

As you are into Gayatri Mantra, you should NOT miss the
Greatest Resource on Gayatri Mantra on Earth

    • @vishal nhai, u are wrong that gayatri mantra isessence of vedic dharma because according to aryasamaj Ishwar/ God is not creator and u are boasting that he is creator as u have posted the translation of gayatri mantra??

Y u peoples never analyze ur faith and scriptures?
Any one can easily misguide u.

      • @anti-agni
__________according to aryasamaj Ishwar/ God is not creator__________
Who is creator of your body? Where Arya Samaj Said God is not creator of universe and all bodies?

      • @sanatan bhai. You peopls don’t know ur own religion and faith??

Just ask ur aryasamaji bosses or search on net then comment…. ur God/Ishwara is not creator and he can’t create anything.

      • @anti-agn
I searched and found God is creator of all bodies like sun, moon, stars etc.
Vedas tell that there are three eternal/immortal matters- first: Almighty God, second: souls, third: prakriti/matter. Almighty God creates, nurses and destroys the universe and again creates it. The said process of creation is eternal/immortal/everlasting. Almighty God creates the universe from prakriti/matter.
Creation, Science, worldly matters etc., is not possible until the same is created by someone. Secondly, knowledge is attained when knowledge is imparted by someone.
When we see towards sun, moon, air, space, human body etc. It is clearly understood that the said creation has not been made by any human being but Almighty God, from whom the knowledge of four Vedas emanates. In Vedas, the knowledge right from straw to Brahma has been mentioned. So in the beginning of non-sexual earth, the Vedas originated in the heart of four rishis: Agni, Vaayu, Aditya and Angira, and from the rishis the knowledge of science, deeds and worship along with every matter is being given to the public by which the public became educated scientist and wrote books, etc.

God was one, is one and shall ever remain one. He is unchangeable, unchallengeable and beyond description. He has unlimited qualities and thus unlimited names but is one. Because He is Almighty and needs no help of anyone to create, nurse and destroy the universe

    • Namaste Kirti

No this is false. An infertile man or woman has same requirement for best intellect for his/her spiritual journey as any other human. And what could be better recipe than Gayatri Mantra?

    • Namaskar Kirti Ji,

Gayatri Mantra is the essence of Vedic-Life style. That is why, it is called Maha-Mantra.

      It’s meaning is simple:

“Live and let live other in equilibrium with nature.”

It does not say anything about any caste, religion and any classified things. Vedic scholars knew that in coming days, people would forget Vedas and turn their sides to something else. That is why, they made it maha-mantra. so as to make sure that people still keep themselves in touch of their Humanitarian duties.

      Regards,

      Rotabharat

  10. I have not been into vedas,
But, yes I have the idea, that the ved is the original pathway for life (Am not trying to be a hindu),
The vedas know exactly, what should be the purpose of life, and its so deep, that one life time may not be enough to grasp and the same time it is so simple, that if we take the first step, life can become a bliss,
Every ritual has a purpose, it excerises our physical, mental, spiritual, emotional….etc dimensions, that keeps us on the right track and prevents us from falling, and if we do, it lets us survive,
But, as days passed by, as people multiplied, as communities arised, the real essence of the vedas began to fade,
Selfish communities/prophets/people began to percieve the teachings in such a way, that could fulfil their own purpose and thus arised the clashes,
I believe, even if we understand one single word/paragraph/mantra and really beleive in it, being honest to it and to our ownself, its worth a lifetime,
God is there to shower its light upon us, but it is us, who must overcome our blindness and raise our hand towards him,
We ask for forgiveness my lord, and the strength to forgive, those who hurt us knowingly or unknowingly,
Oh almighty, pls give me the heart of a simple man, who could help an old man cross the road, rather than the ego of a king, who may have the glass of a gold, but no water that could quench his thirst,
Oh lord, give me the eyes to see all things, as bright and beautiful as they are,
God, please give me an empty glass, so that I could always learn

  11. Why is this mantra called Gayatri?
As far as I have known,”Gaayatri” in Sanskrit can be decomposed to:
Gaayantam traayate iti Gaayatri – Gaayatri mantra is that which protects the one who chants/sings it.

    Om Shakti

  12. While I had read that in the days of yore, everyone chanted this mantra and even did the Sandhya’s (even in the Mahabharata battle field on a day when the fight continued to the night). In the due course of time, it got narrowed down as to only Brahmins ought to do this Sandhya. Can you clarify from the Vedic stand point whether:
    1. The sandhya ritual is necessary to do this Gatatri Japa?
    2. It’s beyond a doubt that one has to chant it with the proper modulation and intonation, but is the ritual with all the achamana, pranayama etc required?
    3. Who formulated the ritual part of tri-kala Sandhyavandana? Rishi Vishwamithra?

    Kind regards,
    Admin, GnanaBoomi.com

    • Please note that rituals are always best practices for given time and situations. They keep varying from time to time. Sandhya has its benefits, Gayatri has its benefits. When you combine them smartly, you can get better benefits. But that does not mean a ritual is essential for any of these. Gayatri meditation can be done anytime. Even if one does not know proper modulation etc, one can still do the meditation on meaning and essence. Of course, mastery over Swara will increase many benefits. But also, if one focusses only on swara etc but loses focus on meaning, that would make it less effective. So focus should be on meaning and emotions, and let other aspects also be embedded naturally. For beginners, simply Gayatri meditation with few pranayams is sufficient. And as one progresses, you add on extras. In an ideal situation, complete package is extremely blissful and nourishing for mind, body and spirit, especially when appended with Havan.

Trikala Sandhya is found in no authoritative text. Dwikala Sandhya is the norm because it is Sandhi of Day and Night. Perhaps it was later made Trikala to remember Ishwar once more. No harm in that, in fact in remembering Ishwar every moment. But rituals should never make us lose our other duties. So Dwikala Sandhya is optimum.

      • Hello Agniveer,

I just read the whole article and the 5 steps. Are we not supposed to chant this Gayatri Mantra for 30 mins? You have mentioned – Contemplate.
        Am I missing something?

  13. “…The gift of
mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we
become in tune with this great power. …”

    – Nikola Tesla (the inventor who made large distance electric power transmission possible !)

  14. Do we have to recite the gayatri mantra aloud while we’re meditating on the mantra. And, I’ve been writing the gayatri mantra for about 20 days now as someone told me that Gayatri Mantra Lekhan Sadhna is good as well. And while writing mantra I contemplate “Hey Paramaatma, show us the right way, and leas us all to a prosperous future”.

Am I using the Gayatri Mantra correctly?

  15. Great salut to Agniveer.
we are always globlely helpless . Print media,e-media all are working about less important to us. It is true that Agniveer take great lead to Sanatan when Zakir neglet us . Please unite all Hindus (Sanatan) under Agniveer.

  16. dear brothers,
I had in 2010 3 month of working hard in Italy. (I’m from Romania). It was very hard, and i started to become sick and mad because my wife and child was in Romania, not with me.
So i was very very sad.
On morning came one ideea , to recite gayatri mantra all day of work (12-14 hours per day).
I started mechanically. I worked in a hotel chichen and all day long working with Gayatri mantra in my mind.
After a few days i started to feel better, one day an energy of joy tooked me. My wealth started being good, and the director started to talk very calm with me. All my souperriors from there became seeing that i’m a good worker, and my only wish is to do that job, without any other interes. (The Italians directors ussually are very bad with romanians workers).
So after that 3 month i said that i’m shore that my “Italyan experience” was not for money, as i prepared, but for dicovering the bliss of Gayatri Mantra.
Of chourse now the Gayatri mantra is my dayli help.
I love this site, many things from here make me happy to see it.
May God bless you! Om Namah Shivaya!
…an withe vedic devotee from Romania, Rudra Dev 🙂

  17. For simpicity the ishwar is taken in female form as Gayatri Mata to only enhance our shradha otherwise the all shastra discussion , debate is boredom I would prefer shri Ramkrishna Paramhansa than a very learned pundit although Shri Ramkrisna Paramhansa was not highly educated. samarpan shall come first.

  18. I am very thank full to God and you respected Agniveerji and Indian literary tradition of Vedas to promote such peace and love for mankind.
Thank you for such a wonderful, simple and easy explanation to lovable Gayatri mantra.

With humility and no intention to pin point things as wrong or being judgmental, I would suggest a little change ie 24*7*365 should be 24*7*52.
Sorry for , if this pointing out, in any way, shows any disrespect towards emotions/meaning promoted by the article.

  19. @sanatandharmi, you are very innocent person you have searched whole net and not searched this website????
you can have your answer on Hinduism—common question on GOD/what is GOD, i am copy pasting from agniveer you can verify.
    “Question: What is God?

    Answer:

There can be a variety of definitions of God. Being limitless and beyond the realm of physical senses, it is difficult to capture the meaning of God in a few words or sentences.A reasonably decent definition would be as foliows:
God is (Sachidanand) existent, intelligent and blissful. He is (Nirakaar) formless, (Sarvashaktimaan) all powerful, (Sarvajya) omniscient, (Nyayakari) just, (Dayalu) merciful, (Ajanma) unborn, (Anant) endless, (Nirvikaar) unchangeable & faultless, (Anadi) beginning-less, (Anupam) unequalled, (Sarvadhar) the support of all, (Sarveshwar) the master of all, (Sarvayapak) omnipresent, (Sarvantaryami) immanent, (Ajar) un-aging, (Amar) immortal, (Abhay) fearless, (Nitya) eternal, and (Pavitra) holy, and (Srishtikarta) the maker of all.

But that is next step. To begin with, it is sufficient to understand that God is the manager of world around and within. This can be deciphered through a systematic process of evaluation of life and world.”
you can see that GOd is Manager and here no attribute of GOD as creator/khaliq????

you can read many arguments of aryasamajis that God is not creator? bro why you peoples so innocent?

you should study about your religion…you should pondr over veda and should see what veda say about GOD.

    • @anti-agni
We do not fight over differences regarding concept of God unlike Muslim who kill each other over difference. You may know How Siya, Suni, Ashamidya fight over the difference.

    • Just as potter creates pot from mud , in the same way God create universe from prakriti ie primordial maatter which is same like mud in potter & pot case …We dont say Potter manages pot….In the same way God created Universe …

  20. Ganesha have u read in any book that potter is creatinf pots using mud?
If we agree with. you then question is who created mud ie basic material/anu? If God has not created primary material then who created that? It means that that material which is uncreated is also equal to God in uncreation.
who created that material? Can u not see the flaw in theory ????

    • you cannot ask who created prakriti because its also eternal..Do u ask who created Allah ?…IF u say Allah created Prakriti also ,then it means Allah created from himself because according to islam there was nothing at start…So Allah also becomes materialistic nature and hence Allah also begets which actually contradicts Quran surah 114….

      • It means that that material which is uncreated is also equal to God in uncreation.
        ———
no its not equal because matter is non-alive ,inert…God is alive entity ..God has much more superior properties ..

      • @ganesha, wow what a beautiful argument you have given.

can u not understand that we are not asking who created Allah/GOD but we are asking who created matter because matter is not GOD…..OK… because GOD is uncreated and has no begining and no end.

your argument can be implied to everything that we cant ask who created human/energy/soul etc read what your sanatandharmi has written “@anti-agni
We do not fight over differences regarding concept of God unlike Muslim who kill each other over difference. You may know How Siya, Suni, Ashamidya fight over the difference.”
what i have observed that like christians every hindu has unique faith….your MP arya was saying that vedic ishwara is nor creator………also i have copy pasted a para from this site in which vedic ishwara has not been given any attribute as creator and now you are arguing that vedic ishwara is creator EXCEPT prakriti???

now question is who created soul….

you can see that prakriti includes everything and after using different materials if I make anything then i cant be called creator….I have never heard that any one saying a carpenter or potter or a foreman or a supervisor or a tailor or faishon designer as CREATOR????

IF i use plastic, iron, steel and make a new kind of mobile then can i be termed as creator of mobile?

      • 1)matter is not God but who told u that which is eternal has to be God ?….Dont u know what law of conservation of energy says.. Now i answer my question if prakriti is created by Allah , do allah dont beget then ?……..Even if we go by your islamic mental fantasy ,that Allah can do anything, then i can raise 1000 of questions like why Allah dont make all muslims happy? why Saudi arab is desert land ? etc etc….So conclusion is mental fantasy of Alllah can do anything dont work…..
        .
2)I think u dont understand diff between prakriti through which this universe is made…..Potter ,carpenter cant make universe from primitive matter ..They only make things from already made universe…The prakriti in universe if diff from primordial matter through which God makes universe….

      • @i don’t know y u ppls make simple things complicated ?

According to islam ALLAH IS CREATOR BUT YOU PLS ALWAYS object and say that vedic ishwata is nor creator because if we believe that He is creator then we have to accept that he is also creator of evil….so vedic ishwara is only assemble things and he is manager.

Read. ur oints again and tell me from which. argument u can prove that vedic ishwara is creator? An entity which cabt create prakriti ho cout He be God? Then who created prakriti.. i know. u can’t answer you can. only say that it aryasamajis belief that’s all …

      • @anti-agni
Rigveda mandal 10, sukta 129 states that like potter makes pot from clay, similarly God creates universe from non-alive matter prakriti. Prakriti is unseen matter. From unseen matter, the whole universe is created in the visible form. Science also says that matter is never destroyed but changes its form. Suppose a paper is burnt, paper changes its form into ashes. Then ashes are crushed and thrown in air. At this moment, the paper changed into ashes becomes invisible but was never destroyed. Similarly the whole universe at the time of final destruction is turned into prakriti i.e., into unseen form.

      • Vedic God is also creator of universe(form or illlusion of prakriti ) but not of prakriti …..if Allah is creator of prakriti then it contradicts quran 114…….Why are u running from answer this question ? There is 1 more fault in quran 114.4 ……
        .
____________An entity which cabt create prakriti ho cout He be God?___________
Can God right now make every muslims happy ? Can he right now change my mind to islam ? If not how can he be God ..Any entity which cannot simply change kafir’s mind and put them in hell for eternity cant be God..:D….i know. u can’t answer ..you can only say that it allah’s wish..thats all….

      • @Anti-Agni
Sanatan Dharma says God is creator of sun, moon, stars and all this universe but God is not creator of Prakrti. God creates universe from non-alive matter prakriti. Similarly the whole universe at the time of final destruction is turned into prakriti i.e., into unseen form

      • @ganesh, you yourself making allegations on islam without knowledge of Islam.
you are mixing things just to hide your fallacy, making peoples happy and unable to create prakriti is not the same thing.

what you cant understand is that your vedic ishwara cant create prakriti and what u asked that “Can God right now make every muslims happy ? Can he right now change my mind to islam ? If not how can he be God ” is totally different thing….

i can very easily answer you that yes Allah can make every muslim happy right now and and he can change your mind to Islam if He wills to do so…no one can stop Him. but you to fail to understand it because you dont want to understand…Allah already explained it in quran that Allah can make every body muslim if He wants to do so but then hell paradise according to deeds is meaningless…..Allah has given us free will and chance to opt right or wrong path…

we can do evil things in our limit…we have the limits and this world is test……if there is no free will and if Allah forcefully make every one muslim then there is no need of test????

if you pray Allah with pure intentions that O Allah guide me and show me true path then Allah will surely show you right path then it is up to u to accept Islam or not….

but still vedic Ishwaracant create prakriti and you have t o accept it and question will remain that who created prakriti?

      • @Anti-Agni
Why Allah can not make another Allah? Why does allah not able to create stone which is too heavy to be lifted by him?( Why does Allah take help of Ibalish (Shaitan) to judge the people if they get misguided or not by Shaitain?

  21. @ganesha, i dont know what do u mean by it “if Allah is creator of prakriti then it contradicts quran 114…….Why are u running from answer this question ? There is 1 more fault in quran 114.4 ……

i am not running but just explain ur question, to make easy for u iam posting translation of 114″Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
The Sovereign of mankind The God of mankind,
From the evil of the retreating whisperer –
Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind
From among the jinn and mankind.”
what is your problem please explain……i have said that vedic ishwara is not creator because i have read many comments of aryasamajis and listend the lecture of Mahendra pal arya and I want to tell every Hindu that vedic concept of ishwara is that ishwara is not creator so that they can think on this topic.

    • __________i can very easily answer you that yes Allah can make every muslim happy right now and and he can change your mind to Islam if He wills to do so…no one can stop Him___________
but why people are not happy then ? .. Why he dont wills ?……So conclusion is he cant…..because he is not omnipotent and hence cannot do……if he is omnipotent,Its either now or never..
      .
__________Allah has given us free will and chance to opt right or wrong path…____________
really ?Allah has sealed our heart written in your quran and person who wants to give free will will never seal it…..
_we can do evil things in our limit…we have the limits and this world is test……if there is no free will and if Allah forcefully make every one muslim then there is no need of test????______
Do you even know who take tests ? Test is taken by those who dont how much hard work has done by a candidate ..So by evaluation of marks they decide who did hard and will give reward…….So if Allah take tests then it means he dont know what people are doing and can only recognise humans who accepted islam tag…..So conclusion is Allah is not omniscient….
      .
_________but still vedic Ishwaracant create prakriti and you have t o accept it and question will remain that who created prakriti?_____________
go and study physics laws and u may understand why prakriti is unborn….Dont apply Your mental fantasy to God otherwise 1000 of questions daily will arise ..

      • @ganesha, everyone can ask 1000 questions and it is not a problem but when that don’t want to understand and just want to win then there is no end.

only islam gives you answers of all the questions which any normal person can easily understand…..your questions are filled with prejudices ……you question like an atheist and when enquired then it is found that you believe in such a helpless Ishwara who can’t create anything.

this world is test is the best belief for the peacefull world ….your heart isnot seaked untill you deny the truth after seeing that….

you can yourself test just accept islam and see no one can stop you…..if you studied islam and you know that it is true and then you put your all efforts to prove islam wrong so that your wrong choice can be justified then your heart will be sealed…

i challenge you that you just recite the kslima shahada and accept islam and prove that your heart is sealed or not???

You are extremist people, you either say that eat veg or eat dog, lion cat lizard and shit and so on…..you can’t find any middle way.

      • @anti-agni
___________only islam gives you answers of all the questions which any normal person can easily understand____________
You are too much obsessed with islam, prophet etc. Instead of worshiping Allah why are you wasting your time here? Why did you not worship the Allah in the time which you passed here. If you think Allah aim to create you to get his worship, you should not get engaged in other activity. . As much as you will worship Allah, you will be entitled to get higher heaven. But you are fill with jealousy and wants everyone should think as you think otherwise they should be get punished by Allah. You are narrow minded person. A narrow minded can not understand God. You mind is imbalanced. I advise to do some Pranayam (Yoga) like Anulom-Vilom and Kapalbhat in the morning. You want to run the world as you go in your daily day to day life. That’s problem with Muslim. World 80% people do not like Islam they are against it.

      • _____@ganesha, everyone can ask 1000 questions and it is not a problem but when that don’t want to understand and just want to win then there is no end.______
such questions will only be asked till u ask your fantasy questions ….
____only islam gives you answers of all the questions which any normal person can easily understand…..your questions are filled with prejudices ……you question like an atheist and when enquired then it is found that you believe in such a helpless Ishwara who can’t create anything.____
really ? there are lot of questions left other than Allah created everything out of nothing……yes ishwara dont create anything because he dont need to…..Those who create are not powerful because when someone creates anything its for help for himself and all…..So what help Allah needed ?……
_____this world is test is the best belief for the peacefull world ….your heart isnot seaked untill you deny the truth after seeing that…._____
ha ha ha…Heart should never be sealed by God…..Those who deny truth ,they only needed help to open seal of heart because their ignorance sealed their intellect.. …..So i think in islam ,allah himself becomes shaitan and seals and then blames others….:/
______i challenge you that you just recite the kslima shahada and accept islam and prove that your heart is sealed or not???________
i daily say kalima….nothing happens….:D……Why i should check my heart after accepting islam ?…. So you mean to say islam open seal and others seal heart…..lol…..prejuduce at its best…
_______You are extremist people, you either say that eat veg or eat dog, lion cat lizard and shit and so on…..you can’t find any middle way.______
We know who have extremest ideology like death for apostasy ,eternal hell. raping slave women ,killing innocent animals etc

      • @anti-agni
I am just follower of prophet. W\hat wrong I did? If your prove me wrong I will not post anything here. You seem to be hypocrite.
        Find wrong in below passage:-

      • @slave. recently you have accepted that you are hanunamam’s slave?????? Read your this comment? hahaha .

        falsehood is bound to perish….

      • just to let you know from my understanding in that they are allowed to lie if they are going to be killed but some muslims say if you about to die and say your faith you will get more rewards according to al tabir a scholor of islam he said ‘If any one is compelled and professes unbelief with his tongue, while his heart contradicts him, in order to escape his enemies, no blame falls on him, because God takes his servants as their hearts believe.” even sunni muslims believe but dont agree fully with eg shia say

  22. @sanatandharmi, you know the answers already…….what do you want to know?
Either you ppls don’t read or understand the things or you have sone evil motives to ask these questins.

any school going child can understand it that if i have told you already that Allah/God is uncreated and eternal then your questin y Allah can’t create another Allah is totally false question.

you can also ask that y we breath through nose and respiratory system y not from leg and reproductive system? Dear Allah made a system for this world neither he is taking help nor he is majboor to take help of oxygen for sustenance of your life….it is His system….so these questions are foolish and endless….
No where quran is claiming that Allah can do anything …it is ur own thinking…but Allah said that Allah has power over all the things…he is creator protector sustainer etc

The great doer of whay He wills..qur85-16

    • @anti-agni
As per eternal law of God: created thing must have get to its end. If soul is created then it must have to die. But no religions says soul dies. So, souls, matter in its primordial form i.e. Prakirti never destroy. They are eternal have no beginning and no ending. (God laws are perfect there is no exception). Why will God create them after sitting idly billion of years. And for Whom God will create souls and matter?

    • Sure then Muslims say oh you can’t understand the Koran unless you read it in Arabic whenever they are confronted with the ugly things in the Koran. Over and over again that is their fall back lame excuse to dodge.

  23. 1)really sorry ,i was taking about 112 by mistake i wrote 114 …..Sahih International
He neither begets nor is born,…..here its written Allah not begets and you are saying Allah begets prakriti ?
    .
    2)Sahih International
Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”
    ————
But where in Quran its written that Allah has no image…Please ! the verse ” quran 112.4 –
And none is like Him. ” doesnot indicate that Allah has no image because ”none is like Him.
” is very general/simple statement..Its often used to denote excellency of others like ”no one is
like salman khan”…..Does it mean salman have no image or formless…..No…..Its just implies
uniqueness of Salman Khan and not that he is formless/bodyless ..
    .
Actually Quran wants to say that there is none like Allah’s image and hence dont make any
other image otherwise Allah will become jealous and angry..So ALLAH himself is an
IMAGE..For proof see Sahih Muslim Book 040, Number 6809 !!
    .
yesterday i saw katrina kaif said in a tv interview that — ”none is like salman khan” …I think
    salman khan is also formless….:D

  24. @ganesha, just see how your aryasamaji fellow “truth sicker/false slave/cannibal/jhut ki jay” is pretending to be muslim and maligning islam.

he always come up with a new name even when he has never been banned here..

so y IH fellows banned him because he is so cheap like go-mutra….cheap for us but precious for agniveer and co hate monger aryasamaji monsters.

  25. @agniveer, can I come up with false names like truth sicker is posting as “true slave of prophet”?????

i can have my name truth seeker/kalbhairav/raj.hyd……can I?

  26. I agree with anti-agni that quran is so simple that it can be understood by anyone. After all its a simple limited GUIDE to pass the life-exam to reach the heaven, The Heaven – where still we will have a body to feed our lusty mind. Just cram it and you got the ticket to heaven.

Mathematics, Physics, Computer, Internet or anything related to science is very very tiny against this Divine GUIDE.

Rob the kafir, Kill the kafir, convert them and Whatever the kafir has invented, just use it to spread the religion of ‘PISS’ and let everyone get a chance to reserve a place in heaven.

  27. Prophet vs Rishi

So I’ve seen a major misunderstanding of the concept of Rishi by both Hindus and non-Hindus alike.

Rishi: Is someone who has used techniques (meditation/Yoga) to connect with God and reach enlightenment. This is someone who had a first hand experience of God and they have reached a higher state of consciousness. Anyone can do this: men and women, old or young, any race, from anywhere on this Earth, and to all of mankind from any time which includes past, present, and future. The point is this is repeatable.

Prophet: is someone who is a specific person of a specific time period that makes the claim they have had a divine experience. This experience is not repeatable and only specific to that person of that particular time period. The point is it is not repeatable at all.

So we can clearly see, that in both cases it says there is a divine experience, but the key difference is, one is repeatable and can be verified (scientific method) while the other is non-repeatable (faith based).

In the olden days there were many Rishis in India. No one blindly believed the experience of a Rishi. if he or she claimed they have achieve some divine experience they must show proof. highest and great proof of all is to repeat the experience personally so we can experience the divine for ourselves. And if the Rishi was a real and true Rishi, he or she would show the techniques and methods they used to experience the divine for themselves. With the collaboration of many Rishis notes were exchanged on how they came to their divine experience and came up with the pure methods of Yoga/meditation. This method is the same method talked about in the Vedas, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, some Buddhist text, and even Sikh scriptures. The point from all of these texts is the highest form of proof isn’t even some exact keeping of some text from many years ago, but using the techniques the Rishis used to connect with God so we can as the common person become Rishis and experience the divine for ourselves from the primary source, God, instead of a secondary source, books.

As a man of science, I clearly support the Rishi experience because it is verifiable. That my friends is the highest form of proof all. To experience God for ourselves instead of relying on some prophet who will not let you experience God for yourself as he did. Because by the nature of the prophet concept, it is not repeatable. Only that prophet, historical character, can experience that and no one else can. Making you dependent on the institution that preserved the material about him. As a person you can not and should not be independent at all. Institutions should be there to help everyone become independent and finally interdependent. The Rishi experience allows you to prove for yourself and become totally independent to interdependent. And even if you don’t experience an higher state of consciousness at least you can take peace in your heart that there is a technique (Yoga/meditation) that can be used and be verified by more than one person that the path is true and real.

And in today’s modern technology, they can now scan people’s brains when they do meditation and they found from the best schools that they brain waves of the people who meditate is different and smooth and clear than those who don’t. The evidence is also there from external monitoring devices. Just go to Harvard peer-reviewed articles and other prestigious schools science articles.

    I hope this helps.

  28. Namaste Agniji,
I am seeking your help in finding information regarding Chhandas in which Gayatri should be recited during Sandhya timings. I could read mention of different chhnadas in Agni Puranam and Shrimad Devi Bhagawatam however, because of my limited knowledge of Sankrit grammer and poetry , I am unable to extract the meaning. I request if you can help me in this regard.
Thank you and I pray Goddess Gayatri guide in all our steps on the path of Dharma.
    Poonam

  29. How wrong you are!
Gayatri is alive and well as a Goddess and personality that is as real as you or I.;-)

    Her secret name is AZNA.
She is Vac, Sophia, The Holy Spirit or Ain Soph Aur ParaBrahma and She is 100% unconditionally accessible worldwide to all Her children in every form necessary in this their time of direst need!

I know this with 10000% certainty and invite you to address her as AZNA and see what happens.

It is She Who directed me to Gayatri Mantra yet revealed Herself to me as such via the literature of a humble American psychic named Sylvia Browne, who wrote Mother God.

Lord Brahma EL’ÓLAM The Creator introduced Himself to her as OM.

Btw I am an erstwhile sadhak with over 30 years of experience with many paths, gurus & teachers of spirituality, both eastern & western, and I am still learning, constantly amazed at the NEW revelation that NO GURU OR PUNDIT ANYWHERE WILL EVER BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU, BECAUSE IT COMES ONLY THROUGH DIRECT PERSONAL & IMPERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TRUE CREATOR ,MALE & FEMALE TRANSCENDING ALL GENDERS, WHO IS LIFE & THE SOURCE OF ALL OF EXISTENCE!

  30. Hypnosis typically involves an introduction to the procedure during which the subject is told that suggestions for imaginative experiences will be presented. The hypnotic induction is an extended initial suggestion for using one’s imagination, and may contain further elaborations of the introduction.

  31. My Samskrit teacher says that when a visarga (:) is followed by a consonant (in this case, prachodayat) it should be read as

    dhiyoyonaF prachodayat

The visarga takes the F sound.

Is this correct? Learned people, please help me learn the correct pronounciation. Yes, I understand that this is a minor point and the meaning is more important. But please clear my doubt.

    Thanks
    Ramesh

  32. क्या गायत्री मंत्र वसिष्ठ विश्वामित्र शुक्र व ब्रह्मा द्वारा शापित है?

    • gayatri mantr ho ya koi bhi mantr shlok ho vah sab ek vichar hote hai , iska shrap v vardaan se koi smbandh nahi hai ! brahma ek gunvachak naam hai vah aap bhi ho sakte hai , koi bhi vidvan ho sakta hai ,

  33. Bro can i chant kamdev mantra ” om namo bhagwate kamdevaye yasya yasya drishyo bhavami, yasch yasch mam mukham pasyati tam tam mohyatu swaha”

can u plz tell me the meaning of this mantra in ur one ishwar concept????

also give me the meaning of om namah sivay, sri ganeshaye namah, and all other small hindu deitis mantra ..

first give me the meaning of kamdev mantra???

  34. Lately I am starting to feel plagued by thoughts like “What am I?”. I keep feeling this constant need to know what exactly is the meaning of being. I am not very good with words. So I hope that explains it adequately.
    Where would I begin?

    • Hi Karthik,

You can start by understanding that you must personsally experience the Divine yourself. Know that there is no such thing as a godman/godwoman, prophet, son of god, incarnation, superman, or spiderman.

Follow the path of Yoga. It teaches you to realize the divine on your own by personally experiencing the Divine on your own. Meditation is key. If I were you, I would take meditation/Yoga classes. It is a very good start.

  35. Got no words to describe the sustained enthusiasm that can be felt for days at a stretch after reading this, no matter what before!

    _/\_

  36. Nobody can beat this

    Thank you Sanjeev
