(Note: This article specifically focuses on those mindsets that support birth-based caste discrimination. So our language and criticism be understood only in light of this heinous practice and for their advocates and not any person, community or caste in general. We consider casteism as worst form of terrorism and their perpetrators as the Dasyus. But rest of us – regardless of they being upper or lower caste as per fake manmade divisions – are one family-one-race -one caste for us. We request readers to not consider this article to be addressed to anyone with this Vedic mindset of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.)
Some facts about caste system that we all should know and think about:

Who is Brahmin?
What is most ridiculous about birth-based caste system is that it is based on unverifiable word of mouth. There is no way to decipher if Brahmins of today are actually children of Brahmins of yesteryears. Regardless of whatsoever Gotra or Rishi name one may utter, there is no way to test the veracity of the claim.

What if I say that Brahmins (birth-based) of today are actually worse than Shudras because they were born of Chandals some 1000 years ago? How can one refute the claim? If you cite that this Brahmin family is of Bharadwaj gotra, I would ask for DNA testing to verify the claim. In absence of it, any claim to superior caste remains merely an empty tall claim.
Who is Kshatriya?
Parshuram is alleged to have wiped off all Kshatriyas several times. So obviously Kshatriyas of today are anything but Kshatriyas by birth!
If one tracks the genealogy of Rajputs, they are supposed to belong to one of the following lineages – Suryavanshi from Sun, Chandravanshi from Moon and Agnikula from fire. Obviously no one actually came from sun or moon on earth! Also Agnikula is a recent origin. Legend says that Agnikula Rajputs sprang from fire when Parashuram wiped off entire Kshatriya or Rajput clan from earth. On many Rajput clans, there is still confusion on whether it is Suryavanshi, Chandravanshi or Agnikula.
Obviously these recent legends – not to be find in any ancient texts – mean that various people who took up the profession of valour/ military became recognized as Rajputs from time to time.
Upper-castes may be Chandals
So if some so-called upper castes can claim some other humans to be lower-caste, even I can assert that these lower-castes are the real Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishyas. And the upper-castes are actually children of Chandals who usurped power centuries ago and deleted historical records. The recorded history mixed with miraculous stories of origin of certain castes and tribes would only support this assertion.
Now if that sounds insulting, even calling any human being as lower-caste is equally offensive, if not more.
Who are Mlechhas among us?
From evident records of history one knows that Greeks, Huns, Sakas, Mongols etc have been assimilating in Indian society in positions of power. Many of them even had rules over certain parts of India for significant periods and today it is impossible to decipher who among us is a Greek, Hun, Mongol etc. This goes well with the Vedic concept of ‘one humanity-one race’ but blows the very foundations of birth-based caste system. Because for them, these Mlecchas are even worse than the 4 castes!
In search of technique for caste determination
Thus forget about caste-system being supported or denied by Vedas. Even that is secondary. We have already seen that Vedas in fact against the very notion of birth-based on gender based discrimination. Refer http://agniveer.com/5276/vedas-caste-discrimination/. What is more important is that there is no way for any of us to determine who among us is actually a high caste and a low caste by genealogy since inception of Vedas. Apart from hollow self-proclaimed assertions, there is nothing more concrete to take anyone’s caste seriously!
So if Vedas were to justify birth-based caste system, they should also have specified a reliable technique to decide someone’s caste. In absence of that technique, the whole concept of birth-based caste system falls flat.
So at best one can say that caste system may have been relevant during inception of Vedas, but has no meaning whatsoever today!
Our stand by the way (based purely on Vedas and logic), is that caste system was never relevant and in fact a distortion of Vedic ideology. And this has been the most expensive distortion for our society that snatched away our entire dignity, strength and future!
What’s in a name?
Please also note that the whole concept of using Name and Surname is hardly a few centuries old. You will not find mention of any ‘Ram Suryavanshi’ or ‘Krishna Yadav’ in ancient literature. Even today, a vast majority adopted a surname based on profession or village or city. South Indians typically use a combination of parental name, village name etc. There are hardly any surnames today which are carried on since inception of Vedas.
The very fact that ancient society discouraged use of surnames implies that people were supposed to be respected for their talents and merits, and not for their birth-stamp. Neither people had to carry caste certificates nor was travel to far off places discouraged as it happened in dark ages of Hinduism. So there was no way for anyone to verify anyone’s caste. The talent of a person was his only caste! Of course distortions did came up over a period of time out of selfish motives. We see that now Bollywood and Politics have also become birth-based. So no wonder similar factors prevailed to strengthen the irrational caste system. But nonetheless, the foundations and verification of castes have always remained utterly unreliable.
Even if someone asserts that Sharma is an old surname for Brahmins, the evidence of people using it compulsorily in Ramayana or Mahabharat era is disputable. So at best we can say that we assume someone to be a Sharma Brahmin because he or she uses such a surname. Or maybe his father and grandfather also used this surname. What if I adopt Sharma surname and my son follows the suit. How would you tell whether I am actually a Chandal or Brahmin? You will have to only rely on my claim. And would I be a fool to admit that actually I am from a generation of Chandals, when being a Brahmin gives me so many exclusive rights and privileges?
The attacks of medieval ages
The thousand years of invasion by fanatic tribals of West and Central Asia witnessed virtually entire cities being raped. Women have been the prime targets throughout this darkest era of Indian history. When looters like Qasim, Ghori, Ghazni, Timur would invade, they would make sure that not even one home is spared whose females were not raped by their soldiers. Delhi itself had been thus ruined several times. The entire north and western India passage from Central Asia has been subject to this tyranny for centuries. May such tragedy may never befall on any society. But our forefathers have witnessed it. Now what would be children of such victims be called except outcastes as per the so-called caste system? But that has thankfully not been the case.
Our seers knew that women are a vulnerable target in adverse situations. So they stipulated in Manu Smriti that a woman, howsomuch fallen, can become noble if the husband is noble. But husband should ensure that he never falls down.
It was this dictum that motivated men to protect the dignity of their womenfolk and god forbid, if something adverse happen, they would still accept the women and start life afresh. Widows would remarry and rape victims would rehabilitate. Had this not been the case, after a few attacks by invaders, we would already have become a society dominated by outcastes!
Of course, in later period, fake glamorization of woman’s dignity started happening that left only death, torture or prostitution as options available for a widow or rape victim. This foolishness only made us even more impotent.
Some birth-based upper-castes may justify that this indeed had been the case that rape victims became outcastes. If that be so, we would only say that this is limit of perversion.

Agniveer has quoted from authoritative texts. And why don’t you see the liberal praise Agniveer has showered upon Muslims like Ashfaqullah Khan, APJ Abul Kalam, Hakim Suri, Azim Premji, Abdul Hamid? It is a matter of shame that some people would always try to give communal colors to any unbiased discussion because they have no other means to counter it logically.

But I fail to get this: the history of islam as far as I have understood from great muslim scholars is that of quran and hadiths only. Why then brother do you want to defend these barbarians? They were no representatives of islam.

I read some where in Agniveer that Islam promote Homosexuality? so I have raised the above question, but still it is open to everyone here in Agniveer to answer? or I will direct it to an appropriate post.
@ Tamilscafe: We have never stated in any article that Islam supports homosexuality. What we have said is that since Islam does not support homosexuality and considers it worst of a sin punishable by death, Babur can be anything but Muslim considering his proud admission of homosexuality in his own autobiography.
This is just for clarification, further discussions may happen on relevant post but not here as this article has a completely different focus.

We offered an explanation to your comment only to ensure that no one interprets it to be Agniveer’s view. We don’t have a restrictive comment policing policy. We encourage free discussions and only intervene when either some comments are reported, found abusive or may provoke violence. Beyond that we trust maturity of commenters. Most of the filtering is done automatically. Presence of a comment no way implies that we agree or disagree to it. If we start moderating each and every comment, first it would be daunting for us to set such an infrastructure. But more importantly, that would defeat the whole purpose of site that values freedom of expression. So we have comments from a diversity of people showcasing divergent viewpoints. वेद और शुद्र
पाश्चात्य विद्वानों जैसे मेक्समूलर, ग्रिफ्फिथ,ब्लूमफिल्ड आदि का वेदों का अंग्रेजी में अनुवाद करते समय हर संभव प्रयास था की किसी भी प्रकार से वेदों को इतना भ्रामक सिद्ध कर दे की हिन्दू समाज का वेदों से विश्वास ही उठ जाये और ईसाई मत के प्रचार प्रसार में अध्यात्मिक रूप से कोई कठिनाई नहीं आये.
इसी श्रृंखला में वेदों को जातिवाद का पोषक घोषित कर दिया गया जिससे बड़ी संख्या में हिन्दू समाज के अभिन्न अंग जिन्हें दलित समझा जाता हैं को आसानी से ईसाई मत में शामिल कर सके.
हमारे ही ब्राह्मण वर्ग ने सबसे पहले भूल करके वेद ज्ञान केवल ब्राह्मणों के लिए हैं ऐसा घोषित कर दिया तत्पश्चात कोई गलती से वेदों को सुन या बोल न ले इसलिए यह प्रचलित कर दिया की जो कोई शुद्र वेदमंत्र को सुन ले तो उसके कान में गर्म सीसा दाल देना चाहिए और जो मंत्र का पाठ कर ले तो उसकी जिव्हा अलग कर देनी चाहिए .इसके अलावा अपने आपको श्रेष्ठ सिद्ध करने के लिए पुरुष सूक्त के मन्त्रों का भाष्य इस प्रकार से किया गया की इस समाज का मुख ब्राह्मण हैं,भुजाये क्षत्रिय हैं,जंघा वैश्य हैं और पैर शुद्र हैं अर्थात ब्राह्मण समाज में सबसे ऊपर अर्थात श्रेष्ठ हैं क्यूंकि मुख सबसे ऊपर होता हैं और शुद्र समाज में सबसे नीचे अर्थात निकृष्ट हैं क्यूंकि शरीर में पाँव सबसे नीचे होते हैं.
स्वामी दयानंद ने वेदों का अनुशीलन करते हुए पाया की वेद सभी मनुष्यों और सभी वर्णों के लोगों के लिए वेद पढने के अधिकार का समर्थन करते हैं. स्वामी जी के काल में शूद्रों का जो वेद अध्यनन का निषेध था उसके विपरीत वेदों में स्पष्ट रूप से पाया की शूद्रों को वेद अध्ययन का अधिकार स्वयं वेद ही देते हैं.
यजुर्वेद २६.२ के अनुसार हे मनुष्यों! जैसे मैं परमात्मा सबका कल्याण करने वाली ऋग्वेद आदि रूप वाणी का सब जनों के लिए उपदेश कर रहा हूँ, जैसे मैं इस वाणी का ब्राह्मण और क्षत्रियों के लिए उपदेश कर रहा हूँ, शूद्रों और वैश्यों के लिए जैसे मैं इसका उपदेश कर रहा हूँ और जिन्हें तुम अपना आत्मीय समझते हो , उन सबके लिए इसका उपदेश कर रहा हूँ और जिसे ‘अरण’ अर्थात पराया समझते हो, उसके लिए भी मैं इसका उपदेश कर रहा हूँ, वैसे ही तुम भी आगे आगे सब लोगों के लिए इस वाणी के उपदेश का क्रम चलते रहो.
अथर्ववेद १९.६२.१ में प्रार्थना हैं की हे…
अथर्ववेद १९.६२.१ में प्रार्थना हैं की हे परमात्मा ! आप मुझे ब्राह्मण का, क्षत्रियों का, शूद्रों का और वैश्यों का प्यारा बना दें.
इस मंत्र का भावार्थ ये हैं की हे परमात्मा आप मेरा स्वाभाव और आचरण ऐसा बन जाये जिसके कारन ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय, शुद्र और वैश्य सभी मुझे प्यार करें.
यजुर्वेद १८.४८ में प्रार्थना हैं की हे परमात्मन आप हमारी रुचि ब्राह्मणों के प्रति उत्पन्न कीजिये, क्षत्रियों के प्रति उत्पन्न कीजिये, विषयों के प्रति उत्पन्न कीजिये और शूद्रों के प्रति उत्पन्न कीजिये.
मंत्र का भाव यह हैं की हे परमात्मन! आपकी कृपा से हमारा स्वाभाव और मन ऐसा हो जाये की ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय, वैश्य और शुद्र सभी वर्णों के लोगों के प्रति हमारी रूचि हो. सभी वर्णों के लोग हमें अच्छे लगें. सभी वर्णों के लोगों के प्रति हमारा बर्ताव सदा प्रेम और प्रीति का रहे.
अथर्ववेद १९.३२.८ हे शत्रु विदारक परमेश्वर मुझको ब्राह्मण और क्षत्रिय के लिए, और वैश्य के लिए और शुद्र के लिए और जिसके लिए हम चाह सकते हैं और प्रत्येक विविध प्रकार देखने वाले पुरुष के लिए प्रिय कर.
इस प्रकार वेद की शिक्षा में शूद्रों के प्रति भी सदा ही प्रेम-प्रीति का व्यवहार करने और उन्हें अपना ही अंग समझने की बात कही गयी हैं.
वेदों के शत्रु विशेष रूप से पुरुष सूक्त को जातिवाद की उत्पत्ति का समर्थक मानते हैं.
पुरुष सूक्त १६ मन्त्रों का सूक्त हैं जो चारों वेदों में मामूली अंतर में मिलता हैं.
पुरुष सूक्त जातिवाद का नहीं अपितु वर्ण व्यस्था के आधारभूत मंत्र हैं जिसमे “ब्राह्मणोस्य मुखमासीत” ऋग्वेद १०.९० में ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय, वैश्य और शुद्र को शरीर के मुख, भुजा, मध्य भाग और पैरों से उपमा दी गयी हैं. इस उपमा से यह सिद्ध होता हैं की जिस प्रकार शरीर के यह चारों अंग मिलकर एक शरीर बनाते हैं, उसी प्रकार ब्राह्मण आदि चारों वर्ण मिलकर एक समाज बनाते हैं. जिस प्रकार शरीर के ये चारों अंग एक दुसरे के सुख-दुःख कप अपना सुख-दुःख अनुभव करते हैं, उसी प्रकार समाज के ब्राह्मण आदि चारों वर्णों के लोगों को एक दुसरे के सुख-दुःख को अपना सुख-दुःख समझना चाहिए. यदि पैर में कांटा लग जाये तो मुख से दर्द की ध्वनि निकलती हैं और हाथ सहायता के लिए पहुँचते हैं उसी प्रकार समाज में जब शुद्र को कोई कठिनाई पहुँचती हैं तो ब्राह्मण भी और क्षत्रिय भी उसकी सहायता के लिए आगे आये.सब वर्णों में…
सब वर्णों में परस्पर पूर्ण सहानुभूति, सहयोग और प्रेम प्रीति का बर्ताव होना चाहिए. इस सूक्त में शूद्रों के प्रति कहीं भी भेद भाव की बात नहीं कहीं गयी हैं.
इस सूक्त का एक और अर्थ इस प्रकार किया जा सकता हैं की जब कोई व्यक्ति समाज में ज्ञान के सन्देश को प्रचार प्रसार करने में योगदान दे तो वो ब्राह्मण अर्थात समाज का शीश हैं, यदि कोई व्यक्ति समाज की रक्षा अथवा नेतृत्व करे तो वो क्षत्रिय अर्थात समाज की भुजाये हैं, यदि कोई व्यक्ति देश को व्यापार, धन आदि से समृद्ध करे तो वो वैश्य अर्थात समाज की जंघा हैं और यदि कोई व्यक्ति गुणों से रहित हैं अर्थात शुद्र हैं तो वो इन तीनों वर्णों को अपने अपने कार्य करने में सहायता करे अर्थात इन तीनों की नींव बने,मजबूत आधार बने.
प्राचीन काल में जन्मना जायते शुद्र अर्थात जन्म से हर कोई गुण रहित अर्थात शुद्र हैं ऐसा मानते थे और शिक्षा प्राप्ति के पश्चात गुण,कर्म और स्वाभाव के आधार पर वर्ण का निश्चय होता था.ऐसा समाज में हर व्यक्ति अपनी अपनी क्षमता के अनुसार समाज के उत्थान में अपना अपना योगदान कर सके इसलिए किया गया था. मध्य कल में यह व्यस्था जाती व्यस्था में परिवर्तित हो गयी. एक ब्राह्मण का बालक दुराचारी, कामी, व्यसनी, मांसाहारी और अनपढ़ होते हुए भी ब्राह्मण कहलाने लगा जबकि एक शुद्र का बालक चरित्रवान,शाकाहारी,उच्च शिक्षित होते हुए भी शुद्र कहलाने लगा.
इस जातिवाद से देश की बड़ी हनी हुई और हो रही हैं.
परन्तु आज समाज में योग्यता के आधार पर ही वर्ण की स्थापना होने लगी हैं. एक चिकित्सक का पुत्र तभी चिकित्सक कहलाता हैं जब वह सही प्रकार से शिक्षा ग्रहण न कर ले, एक इंजिनियर का पुत्र भी उसी प्रकार से शिक्षा प्राप्ति के पश्चात ही इंजिनियर कहलाता हैं. और एक ब्राह्मण के पुत्र को अगर अनपद हैं तो उसकी योग्यता के अनुसार किसी दफ्तर में चतुर्थ श्रेणी से जयादा की नौकरी नहीं मिलती. यही तो वर्ण व्यवस्था हैं.
आशा हैं पाठकगन वेदों को जातिवाद का पोषक न मानकर उन्हें शुर्द्रों के प्रति उचित सम्मान देने वाले और जातिवाद नहीं अपितु वर्ण व्यस्था का पोषक मानने में अब कोई आपत्ति नहीं समझेगे.
Team Agniveer, brilliant work. This intellectual forward march against casteism has to be sustained. Every politician will talk about destroying the system but he will do everything to sustain it to stay in business. And I have been engaging many villagers in conversations against casteism. And the fact is that while it is a painfully slow process, it is important to appeal to the common sense of many of these folks (who are otherwise smart) on casteism. Those that do ought to know that while talking to practitioners of this system, if we lowered the boom & said that this is wrong, right away, we close all avenues of further discussions but we need to induce the antidote, slowly and steadily. And everyone that reads these posts must do their two cents against the venom of casteism.

Agreed, i am searching a telugu translator. But how would Agniveer verify the version if it is translated exactly(intent)?
Through third-party editing. But we need someone who can type in unicode font that is used in gmail etc.
May be I can help in translating into Telugu and Odia, I have already translated some articles of Agniveer in Odia language, for some of my friends of this locality, although they are not published, but spoken to many people in Odisha. The problem is getting unicode odia writer. The software that I have, can translate in Odia, but the fonts are readable only on mozila firefox, when I copy the texts on chrome or IE, these are not properly readable.
I am not very sound on software technologies, so need help in this regard.

I have recently posted some comments in Times of India. I have been refuting hatred and overtures by some evangelical christians who were taking advantage of our problems with Pakistani muslims and trying to spread christiantity like vultures looking for dead corpses. While my take was to enlighten our muslim brothers with the truth about the QuR’an , this evangelical fanatic was refuting and ridiculing me with the help of Hindu scriptures, which was downright humiliating. I have some exposure to QuR’an and Hadith but I don’t know where this guy got this kind of hindu sciptures with proper Quotes and all that. I need help from AgniveerJi. I have just started going into the details of Vedas and Other Hindu Scriptures. My posting are under the name of” Razixmuslim” and the clown in question who has given me grief is “Gerry Faulkner”.
