The reality of caste system – Next Move

This entry is part 10 of 11 in the series Vedas totally reject Caste System

The goal of writing this series is not to paint a gloomy, hopeless picture and to make all feel guilty. Instead, the goal is to be objective and realistic about our history, and present and pave a smart way for future.

This is what needs to be done to save India and Hindus Let each of us strive for this at whatever level we can and soon the efforts would multiply into a transformation within a few years. Let us reject caste system totally in thoughts, words and actions.

Don’t repeat the history

Stop associating yourselves with our forefathers to defend their mistakes. This is also a form of caste system. Take collective responsibility for whatever happened. So-called birth based Brahmins and Kshatriyas are not the only ones to be blamed. So-called Dalits and Shudras are more to be blamed. Why did they allow these fake Brahmins and Kshatriyas to usurp power and create a nuisance for centuries?
Now let bygones be bygones. Stop calling yourself as belonging to any caste except humanity. Stop blaming any Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya or Shudra for whatever happened in past or happens now. Our fight is against a mindset and not persons. Our success will depend on how strongly we refuse to even accept any person by his caste in the first place.

We must realize that it were few people who believed in caste system and made it flourish. To blame all birth-based Brahmins for deeds of few would be foolish. We must accept the truth that Swami Dayanand Saraswati who debunked caste system on basis of Vedas was also a Brahmin. The person who gave Ambedkar his name was also a Brahmin. Veer Savarkar who had an undiluted stand favoring total destruction of caste system was a Brahmin.

Instead of making an upper-caste vs lower-caste issue, we must realize it is an issue that impacts all sections of society and hence must be collectively destroyed.

Don’t defend caste in the name of culture and tradition
Stop the habit of defending every other thing in the name of culture and tradition.

Totally reject every scripture, every ritual, and every institution that thrives on the birth-based caste system. Let us say a full stop to it, be it a great temple or festival or a book we have been taught to love since early childhood for generations.

Agniveer did not find Vedas – the first texts – to contain any support for such ridiculous unverifiable conjectures. On contrary Vedas extol for pure meritocracy. Also, Vedas are free from adulterations to best of our knowledge. Hence, we consider Vedas as our foundation. All other texts are acceptable only to the extent they comply with Vedas. And if they advocate casteism, racism or gender bias, they are anything but scriptures. Let’s reject them outright, as well as those people, institutions and rituals that defend these.

This does not mean we reject our forefathers out rightly. Accept their good points; do keep track of deeds of your forefathers if you want to, but only as an inspiration and source of motivation. Refuse to enjoy delusion of your supremacy based on deeds of your forefathers. No one gives you the 1st Rank in University because your grandfather was a topper!

Don’t acknowledge any temple that refuses Dalit entry
Refuse to acknowledge any temple that refuses to accept a talented ‘so-called’ Dalit as a priest. Either grab its control and install meritocracy or let such temples of hatred be boycotted. That may be the greatest pilgrim center, but publicity does not make a villain into a hero.

Accept non-Hindus as Hindus

Coordinate with local temples controlled by logical minds to openly accept non-Hindus as Hindus with dignity. They may do a short ritual like a recitation of Gayatri Mantra and make one a Hindu. No need for any mention of any caste except that he is a human. Only adherence to certain basic lifestyle norms like food, charity, education, non-violence, worship of Supreme, equality of all human beings, etc. may suffice.

Organize Shuddhis

Events should be organized where these Shuddhis are done at larger scale. And those taking part should be made into Brahmins, who then are eligible to conduct religious rituals and be priests of temples.

In fact, special temples should be opened with Dalit and erstwhile non-Hindu priests. It has started in many areas but needs to be done more aggressively.

In so-called Dalit areas, rituals should be conducted that convert them into Brahmins, who then conduct rituals of Brahminization of other Dalits. What more, these people should be provided Surnames like Sharma, Tiwari, Tripathi, Chaturvedi, Dwivedi, Trivedi, etc. that they can legally use. This should happen in such wide scale that within few years, it becomes impossible to distinguish between a Brahmin of few years and a Brahmin of few generations. (There is no way to find Brahmins of more than a few generations in absence of credible DNA verification). Swami Dayanand used to distribute sacred thread widely to promote Vedic Dharma. We should also use this symbol to promote our mission.

What would be the challenge?

One challenge that would come is from reservation-based politics, which would coax so-called Dalits to continue being called Dalits and earn privileges at the cost of dignity. But if wider community support programs and avenues of entrepreneurship be explored, this factor would gradually die a natural death. In any case, within a couple of decades, the craze of secured government jobs is poised to die down among the enlightened class of society due to much more attractive entrepreneurial and global opportunities, thanks to the technological revolution.

Now due to politicization, people have started feeling proud to be called Dalits or Anarya! This is a very foolish reaction to events of history that defeats the very purpose. Dalit means one who is trampled. It’s an abuse and society should refuse to use this world for any caste. One who is economically or socially neglected is a Dalit regardless of his or her caste. Any villain is an Anarya. A daughter of a fisherman is a noble Brahmin if she is a scholar. She is a Chaturvedi if she has mastered four Vedas. Instead of nurturing clustering of people around terms like Dalit, Arya, Picchdi Jaati, Backward Caste, Scheduled Caste, we should refuse even to recognize such foolish divisions when entire humanity is one caste one race. Factional parties thriving on Bahujan, Dalit, Dravida appeasements are as great enemies of humanity as the fake Brahmins and Kshatriyas of yesteryears – both are nurturing the foolish caste system for their selfish reasons or sheer irrationality.

But now is the golden time to understand the fakeness of the hollow caste system and destroy its very foundations. Of course, challenges are there, but even the opportunity is historic.

Agniveer’s resolve

Agniveer is determined to make this its number one priority. We appeal to all to join us in this mission as we initiate a movement through the ground level implementation of above plans.

We know that this chapter may arouse some angry reactions from those who support the denial of Vedas based on birth or feel men are superior to women and other bogus concepts. But we do not care because we are with truth and know that caste system is against Vedas, against humanity, against logic, and against the nation.

Those who desire to debate us on this are most welcome! But before that, you must showcase your DNA reports so that we can reliably conclude that you are indeed from a genealogy of Brahmins since the inception of Vedas and not children of a cunning Chandal, who took a Brahmin guise some generations ago. After all, by your own admission, only authentic Brahmins have the right to debate on Vedas!

May the rule of merit prevail!

The reality of caste system – 2

This entry is part 9 of 11 in the series Vedas totally reject Caste System

In this chapter, we will review the simple lessons on Caste System.

Lesson 1: Caste system is a bogus concept

The caste system is a bogus concept having no Vedic basis whatsoever. Not one single mantra has any justification for birth-based casteism.

Lesson 2: All humans have all four castes!

Every human has all four qualities – Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra – within him and for the sake of simplicity, we can tag him with his predominant profession. However, this remains a gross approximation, which loses its relevance even more in the current era and social system. Yajurveda 32.16 specifically prays that MY Brahmin and MY Kshatriya qualities be worthwhile!

Lesson 3: There is no way to decide

There is no way to decide if so-called upper castes are actually upper and lower caste actually lower throughout last several thousand generations and more.

All this upper-caste and lower-caste fantasy stories are based on self-assessment and evidence of hardly a few generations. We also see that the present caste system provides an incentive for crooks to somehow attain false certificates of upper caste and fool rest of the population. Also, there is no incentive for any fake upper caste to actually admit that he or she belongs to a family of Chandals because that would deprive them of their special rights and status. In all probability, caste system would imply rule of the crooks and torture of the honest. It is more likely that the honest ones now known as lower castes are the real upper castes being duped by real low-castes! After all caste system basically means an incentive to cheat!

Traits may be inherited due to environment BUT….
We can just say that certain traits run predominantly in certain families due to the environment that a newborn receives. Many professions run through generations. There is nothing wrong in it. But that does not mean that son of a doctor becomes a doctor merely by taking birth. He has to grow up, give exam and qualify for MBBS to use the Dr. salutation. Same is true for every profession or Varna.

Further, this does not also mean that I cannot be a doctor simply because my father was a laborer. Thankfully, this is not the case. Or else the world would have been worse than Hell. After all, almost all legends who shaped the world through knowledge, inventions, discoveries and leadership were mutants who went completely against family traditions.

Lesson 4: Caste system ruined us

Ever since India started taking caste system seriously, we degraded from the lighthouse of the world to one of the largest debtors and beggars of the world. And the western world could progress so much despite so many lacunae because they allowed equal rights to dignity to all humans regardless of birth. At the height of caste-system, we saw ourselves being raped and butchered for centuries and finally partitioned in our own ancient homeland.

It is only in recent years after caste system has dwindled significantly, that we witness some respite. Whatever nuisance remains is because of caste-system refusing to go due to its politicization. And politicization thrives because we refuse to trash proactively all those rituals, texts, customs based on birth-based caste system.

Lesson 5: Negative contribution of casteist mind

If I ask you to provide any significant contribution of any casteist mind in last 1000 years, you would have to blame the utter lack of it all on crazy conspiracy theories. However, the fact is that apart from hollow superstitious philosophies and rituals, nothing useful was ever contributed by all the pundits of Varanasi and all holy shrines put together who had access to tremendous wealth and resources to do anything worthwhile. (Refer the wealth being discovered from Padmanabhan temple for example. I wonder if they would have utilized this wealth to unite people for fighting away the invaders and establishing meritocracy).

The so-called Mlecchas like Einstein, Newton, Faraday and hundreds of other path-breakers of West were more fertile minds than the ‘divinely’ inspired birth, knowledge and special gifts of Shri Hari on these birth-based pundits. The only difference was that in last 300 years, West rejected the junk of Biblical superstitions, increasingly accorded equal rights to all sections of societies. We can conclude that a non-casteist mind of a Mleccha (considered worse than even Shudras) is thousand times more brilliant than the most ‘divine’ casteist mind.

Those who claim that their upper-castes have ‘better’ talents should provide evidence on what great research their ‘better’ talents have produced in last 300 years to take their claims seriously?

Giving names of a few scientists like Raman or Chandrashekhar would be foolish. Because they achieved whatever they could achieve only when they adopted studies of the Mlecchas. Their knowledge came from Mlecchas, and Mlecchas alone acknowledged their outputs.

Instead, one should showcase examples from centers of casteist learnings – Kashi etc. – on what great breakthrough research they could bring from the classified knowledge they had owing to their superior birth? Apart from degrading a great scientific tradition to stories of cheap gimmicks and Dakshina, the contribution has been meager from these great ‘universities.’

And a non-casteist Mleccha warrior is more effective than a far more powerful and brave casteist Kshatriya. That is why despite being touted as having the bravest Rajputs, even the slaves of slaves enslaved us for centuries! (Refer the Slave dynasty!) We were marrying our daughters to psychopaths like Akbar despite the heroic valor! We had our Kashi Vishwanath taking recluse in a well despite the power of Vedic scholars and brave divinely gifted warriors! And Ghazni raping women in premises of Somnath Temple, thanks to our birth-based caste system that allowed only specific families to be trained in warfare and then remain Hindu only if they do not get touched by Mlecchas!

In addition, far less talented Englishmen could rule not only us but half of the globe simply because they rejected artificial discrimination within their own society!

But yes, India has been excellent producers of slaves and Shudras for ages. Barring few rebels, as a society, despite our tall claims of being Brahmin or Kshatriya or Vaishya, we have been licking the boots of our rulers; whosoever came to rule us. We feel pride in serving our Aakaas. Mughal armies were predominantly consisting of Rajput warriors and generals. When Haldi Ghati battle happened, they were Rajputs trying to defeat the brave Pratap! Most of the battles Shivaji fought were against so-called Rajputs and Marathas who were bootlicking the Sultanates!

Those who claim to be upper-castes and defend birth-based caste system in practice have not been better than Shudras or Slaves as per their deeds! No doubt, they had thus all the reasons to defend their fake upper-castes!

Lesson 6: Casteists caused decline of Hinduism

It was our blunder that we closed doors of entry of forced converts back to Hinduism and thus caused the slavery and eventual partition of India. Even today, Hinduism is the only religion that has no mechanism to accept people into it except by birth. Of course, if you pay some bucks at Varanasi these days, they do convert and marry you as per Hindu rituals so that you can take photographs. Even this started after the Arya Samaj Shuddi movement, which was met with stiff opposition by some fake Brahmins in last century and quarter. In our definition, such people were worse than Shudras.

Many so-called fake Brahmins (fake because they cannot produce DNA records of their Brahminism) would claim that non-Hindus are allowed to be taken back to Hinduism but only as Shudras and not Brahmins or Kshatriyas! What a stupidity based on selfish power politics! A Stephen Knapp, who has contributed more to the cause of Hinduism than all the pundits of Kashi put together, is still disallowed from entering Jagannath Temple because he was not a born Brahmin! He will have to do penance in this birth and take next birth as Brahmin to get this right!

Do we need any external enemies to destroy our destiny?

We have been practicing this stupidity for ages and still do not understand. I can go to a mosque and express my desire to be a Muslim. They will then make all arrangements and make me one quickly. Church will even pay me bucks to become a Christian. But if someone goes to a temple to embrace the culture of their forefathers, first the pujari will look at him as if he has heard a queer joke. Then he would call some pundit. Depending on the location of the temple, even his entry may be barred. For example, only Brahmins can enter into interiors of Kashi Vishwanath temple! Then he would be provided a list of penances so that he can become a Shudra. The penances, suggested by likes of revered Sadhu Maharaj have included eating cow dung for several days! Other sects like ISKCON may make things easier because they are among few sects who felt the importance of bringing our lost brothers back.

But then they would be called frauds by other sects. Still, they cannot enter a Kanchipuram or Vishwanath or Jagannath or Dwarka temple. They cannot marry a so-called high-caste Hindu. They cannot read and teach Vedas. Everyone would try to play safe and recommend that they only study Geeta and Bhagvat Puran etc.

Except Arya Samaj, no one would dare to make a Pandit teaching Vedas from a Maulana. And they are considered deviant since last 125 years. And now even Arya Samaj has become a kitty party ignoring its prime duty of destroying the caste system! They are busy conducting the marriage of eloped couples and earning Dakshina!

Would some Christian or Muslim be a fool to accept Hinduism at such cost to his or her dignity?

I am not blaming any individual but the mindset. The foolish caste system and the mindset that supports it is the greatest cause of all the problems of today. If we became slaves, it was because of this. If we were raped and butchered, it was because of this. If we are facing terrorism, it is because of this. And still, we refuse to jettison it proactively. We know it has no basis, no foundation, and no way to verify it, but still, we continue to feed the snake that has been killing our kins for centuries.

Lesson 7: Casteists caused the Partition of India

Many Indians know the partition and so-called hardline Muslim problem. But few know that Jinnah’s grandfather was a Hindu, who was forced to convert due to stupid reasons. Iqbal was from a family of Brahmins not even two generations ago! Our stupid caste system would make someone a Mleccha even if we ate with a ‘Mleccha’ and there was never a way back to home.
Later, when legends like Swami Dayanand and Shradhanand started Shuddhi movement and were supported by visionaries like Savarkar, the opportunistic agents of Dharma relented but allowed extremely impractical access to Hinduism as lower castes.

The entire Muslim or Christian population of subcontinent today is the only result of our own crime of caste-system that would make one outcast at flimsiest of reason. Instead of condemning other religions and their faith, we should ask ourselves: “What do we have to offer them to bring them back with dignity?” “What right we have to condemn them when we defend our own irrational fake scriptures that justify caste system and gender discrimination?”
Conclusion

Casteists should look at their own crimes first. Let us be honest with ourselves. Agniveer critically analyzes the history of Islam or Quran or Bible, it does so as a scientist and not with hatred. It focuses on concepts and not people. In the same vein, it also has the guts to say that it throws into the dustbin and puts fire to all those rubbish texts, which support in any manner disgraceful blots like casteism and gender discrimination. Agniveer does not care about how emotional we may be to such a text, ritual, or way of worship. It would still stand for getting rid of lices that suck our blood.

Till we can come up with this honesty, any debate on comparative religions would be a shameless veil on our own heinous crimes.

To Hell with Casteism.

And for so-called lower castes, there was never a mechanism to become upper-caste again. We said ‘To Hell with merit, ’ and Destiny said ‘To Hell with Hindus’!

Agniveer appeals to all to say ‘To Hell with those who say ‘To Hell with merit.”

The reality of caste system – 1

This entry is part 7 of 11 in the series Vedas totally reject Caste System

This chapter specifically focuses on those mindsets that support birth-based caste discrimination. Our language and criticism should be understood only in light of this heinous practice and for their advocates and not any person, community or caste in general. We consider casteism as the worst form of terrorism and their perpetrators as the Dasyus. But rest of us – regardless of they being upper or lower caste as per fake manmade divisions – are one-family-one-race-one-caste for us. We request readers not to consider this chapter to be addressed to anyone with this Vedic mindset of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

Some facts about caste system that we all should know and think about:

Who is Brahmin?

The most ridiculous thing about birth-based caste system is that it is based on unverifiable words of mouth. There is no way to decipher if Brahmins of today are actually children of Brahmins of yesteryears. Regardless of whatsoever Gotra or Rishi name one may utter, there is no way to test the veracity of the claim.

So what if I say that Brahmins (birth-based) of today are actually worse than Shudras because they were born of Chandals around 1000 years ago? How can one refute the claim? If you cite that this Brahmin family is of Bharadwaj gotra, I would ask for DNA testing to verify the claim. In the absence of it, any claim to superior caste remains merely a tall empty claim. That is why original Manu Smriti (not the fake one popular today) clearly stated that one must not earn benefits by boasting about his or her lineage.

Who is Kshatriya?

Parshuram is alleged to have wiped off all Kshatriyas several times. Therefore, it is obvious that Kshatriyas of today are anything but Kshatriyas by birth!

If one tracks the genealogy of Rajputs, they are supposed to belong to one of the following lineages – Suryavanshi from Sun, Chandravanshi from Moon and Agnikula from the fire. Obviously, no one actually came from sun or moon on earth! Also, Agnikula is a recent origin. Legend says that Agnikula Rajputs sprang from fire when Parashuram wiped off entire Kshatriya or Rajput clan from earth. On many Rajput clans, there is still confusion on whether it is Suryavanshi, Chandravanshi or Agnikula.

Obviously, these recent legends – not to be found in any ancient texts – mean that various people who took up the profession of valor/ military became recognized as Rajputs from time to time.

Upper-castes may be Chandals

If some so-called upper castes can claim some other humans to be lower-case, even I can assert that these lower castes are the real Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas. And the upper-castes are actually children of Chandals who usurped power centuries ago and deleted historical records. The recorded history mixed with miraculous stories of the origin of certain castes and tribes would only support this assertion.

Now, if that sounds insulting, even calling any human being as lower-caste is equally offensive, if not more.

Who are Mlechhas among us?

From evident records of the history, one knows that Greeks, Huns, Sakas, Mongols, etc. have been assimilating in Indian society in positions of power. Many of them even had rules over certain parts of India for significant periods and today it is impossible to decipher who among us is a Greek, Hun or Mongol. This goes well with the Vedic concept of ‘one humanity one race’ but blows the very foundations of the birth-based caste system. Because for them, these Mlecchas are even worse than the four castes!

In search of technique for caste determination

Forget about caste-system being supported or denied by Vedas. Even that is secondary. We have already seen that Vedas in fact against the very notion of birth-based on gender-based discrimination.

What is more important is that there is no way for any of us to determine who among us are actually a high caste and a low caste by genealogy since the inception of Vedas. Apart from hollow self-proclaimed assertions, there is nothing more concrete to take anyone’s caste seriously!

If Vedas were to justify birth-based caste system, they should also have specified a reliable technique to decide someone’s caste. In the absence of that technique, the whole concept of birth-based caste system falls flat.

All one can say is that caste system may have been relevant during the inception of Vedas but has no meaning whatsoever today!

Our stand by the way (based purely on Vedas and logic), is that caste system was never relevant and in fact a distortion of Vedic ideology. And this has been the most expensive distortion for our society that snatched away our entire dignity, strength, and future!

What is in a name?

Please also note that the whole concept of using Name and Surname is hardly a few centuries old. You will not find mention of any ‘Ram Suryavanshi’ or ‘Krishna Yadav’ in ancient literature. Even today, a vast majority adopted a surname based on profession or village or city. South Indians typically use a combination of parental name, village name, etc. There are hardly any surnames today, which are carried on since the inception of Vedas.

The very fact that ancient society discouraged use of surnames implies that people were supposed to be respected for their talents and merits, and not for their birth-stamp. Neither people had to carry caste certificates nor was travel to far-off places discouraged as it happened in dark ages of Hinduism. There was no way for anyone to verify anyone’s caste. The talent of a person was his only caste! Of course, distortions did come up over a period of time out of selfish motives. We see that now Bollywood and Politics have also become birth-based. No wonder, similar factors prevailed to strengthen the irrational caste system. Nonetheless, the foundations and verification of castes have always remained utterly unreliable.

Even if someone asserts that ‘Sharma’ is an old surname for Brahmins, the evidence of people using the surname compulsorily in Ramayana or Mahabharata era is disputable. We can merely say that we assume someone to be a “Sharma Brahmin” because he or she uses such a surname. Alternatively, maybe his father and grandfather also used this surname. What if I adopt Sharma surname, and my son follows the suit. How would you tell whether I am actually a Chandal or Brahmin? You will have to only rely on my claim. Moreover, would I not be a fool to admit that actually I am from a generation of Chandals when being a Brahmin gives me so many exclusive rights and privileges?

The attacks of medieval ages

The thousand years of invasion by fanatic tribes of West and Central Asia witnessed virtually entire cities being raped. Women have been the prime targets throughout this darkest era of Indian history. When looters like Qasim, Ghori, Ghazni, Timur would invade, they would make sure that not even one home is spared whose females were not raped by their soldiers. Delhi itself had been ruined several times. The entire north and western India passage from Central Asia has been subject to this tyranny for centuries. May such tragedy may never befall on any society. But our forefathers have witnessed it. Now, what would be children of such victims be called except outcast as per the so-called caste system? But that has thankfully not been the case.

Our seers knew that women are a vulnerable target in adverse situations. They stipulated in Manu Smriti that a woman, how so much fallen, could become noble if the husband is noble. But the husband should ensure that he never falls down.

It was this dictum that motivated men to protect the dignity of their womenfolk and God forbid if something adverse happen, they would still accept the women and start life afresh. Widow would remarry, and rape victims would rehabilitate. Had this not been the case, after a few attacks by invaders, we would already have become a society dominated by outcast!

Of course, in the later period, fake glamorization of woman’s dignity started happening that left only death, torture or prostitution as options available for a widow or rape victim. This foolishness only made us even more impotent.

Some birth-based upper-castes may justify that this indeed had been the case that a rape victim became an outcast. If that be so, we would only say that this is a limit of perversion.

The reality is that caste system, by design, and practicality, was never a Hindu concept. It emerged out of class or profession based community living and aggravated under 1400 years of Jihadi attack that forced several communities to do menial jobs, and restricted free and safe travel due to constant fear of murder and rapes.

Caste System has nothing Hindu about it. It is a social order that emerged due to challenges our ancestors faced.

Yes, pride of ancestors is a noble concept. One must be proud of the ancestors and their contributions that make us what we are today. This pride is Pitra Rin. But the way ahead for this pride must be to draw bigger lines of great work, and not ridiculing anyone on his ancestry.

Aryan Invasion Theory, Vedas and Dravidians

251

Aryan Invasion Theory (AIT), which today having been rechristened as Indo – Aryan Migration (IAM) theory (given that the original position is no longer tenable) is the largest myth that was ever propagated by historians with vested interests that still retain vestiges to their Western paymasters. In this post the scope is restricted to visiting Veda samhitas and Tamil literary works from the Sangam period that render the AIT / IAM theories redundant. This post will also show the integrated, continuous nature of the deities that were worshipped from the now parched Saraswati river basin and the Vaigai river basin in Madura, Tamilnadu. We are taking Tamil as representative of Dravidian languages because, unlike the other 3 Southern states, it is in Tamil Nadu that the political and societal idea of Aryan / Dravidian divide is more vocally and visibly pronounced.

Note: We are merely exploring historical and literary traditions here and do not attempt to analyze any method of worship.

The hoax of Aryan-Dravidian divide

Rig Veda does not give even a shred of evidence of any invasion or migration to have taken place from outside or the Rishis of Vedas having been part of expeditions into India from somewhere else. But Indologists and apologists of AIT / IAM use Rig Veda to try to establish their standpoint.

They use the invocation of Indra by Angiras family of Rishis to slay the likes of Dasyus and Panis as evidences that an invading Aryan army slaughtered the aborigines of India that were Dravidians.

Before we move ahead let us establish what Dravida means.

In Sanskrit, it loosely means liquid like or watery. The root word for this is Drava in Sanskrit.

And importantly, in Tamil, the word Dravidian or Dravida hardly gets mentioned in the Sangam literature of Tamils.

The corpus of Sangam literature is the most authentic chronicling of the life, times, theology, events, wars, business, natural calamities, Tamil grammar etc of the Tamils starting from 600 BC to 200 AD. To put it in another way, if hypothetically the invading Aryans pushed the Dravidians South of Vindyas and killed many Dravidians (based on Rig Veda), the earliest Tamil literary works obviously ought to have mentioned the mayhem in the so called Dravidian literary works of the Sangam age.

The Tamil literary works started using the word “Dravida” only in the 9th century AD but that too only in the context of linguistics. And a Tamil lexicon of the 9th century AD called “Senthan Divakaram” uses Dravidam to denote Tamil.

This itself is sufficient to realize that the whole Dravida story is a modern hoax without any historical basis. In fact it was only in late 19th century that Robert Caldwell, a proclaimed evangelist who came to India for sole purpose of proselytization and spreading Christianity, first used the word ‘Dravidian’ to further his agenda. And then the term took political colors. And once politicized, it is always in benefit of all political forces to keep the myth alive so that they can cook their rotis.

The hoax of evidence from Rig Veda

Now, let us move to understanding how the AIT / IAM apologists use Dasyus to claim that invading Aryans slaughtered the so called native Dasyus and let us also explore a few questions. The apologists point to Rig Veda 10/48, where, Indra is seen to have destroyed Dasyus, Vrtras and Panis with his might, captured wealth and also mentions that those in his company will not be felled.

But what the apologists do not delve into is to understand the characterization of the likes of Dasyus , Vrtras and Panis (the last 2 being a kind of Dasyu) in Rig Veda. Who are the Dasyus?

When we look up Rig Veda 1/33/1 – 10, it becomes obvious that the wealth that Indra captures is actually knowledge.

RV/1/33/1 ends with “gavam ketam param avarjate nah”. It means supreme knowledge of the luminous cows. And the whole verse means – come let us go seeking the cows to Indra, it is he that increases the thought in us, for us, he releases supreme knowledge of the luminous cows.

Let us first understand, in Vedas, those that do the Soma pressing or other Vedic sacrifices for divinities are called yajyu. The divinities to whom these sacrifices are offered are called yajata. The yaju by virtue of his goodwill is sukratu. Sukratus by virtue of their works find the “divine word” and having found the divine word, a sukratu becomes the singer of the word.

But Dasyu is the opposite principle of both Sukratu and Yajyu. Dasyu is also called “A”yajyu (opposite of Yajyu). And interestingly an Ayajyu is a hater of the singer of the divine word (this quality is Ayajyu called brahmadvisa) and IMPORTANTLY an Ayajyu is ANASA (has no mouth to speak) and has no mental faculties (Amanyamana). And across the Vedas the Dasyus like Panis and Vritras withhold the kine (the kine are not physical cows and sheep but they point to knowledge) and this kine has to be forcefully extracted with Indra’s help by man. And in another place in RV, it is stated that Panis (a type of Dasyu), plunders and steals the cows and hides them in his cave. With the help of Indra the knowledge, the luminous cows are secured by man. RV/6/51/14 calls Indra to destroy the Panis and equates Panis to wolf.

And let us also look at a few more items that Indra won by destroying Dasyus, as per western indologists.

RV/3/34/7-10:

7 Lord of the brave, Indra who rules the people gave freedom to the Gods by might and battle. Wise singers glorify with chanted praises these his achievements in Vivasvan’s dwelling.

8 Excellent, Conqueror, the victory-giver, the winner of the light and Godlike Waters,He who hath won this broad earth and this heaven, -in Indra they rejoice who love devotions.

9 He gained possession of the Sun and Horses, Indra obtained the Cow who feedeth many.Treasure of gold he won; he smote the Dasyus, and gave protection to the Aryan colour.

10 He took the plants and days for his possession; he gained the forest trees and air’s mid-region.Vala he cleft, and chased away opponents: thus was he tamer of the overweening.

Indra secures forest trees, mid air, plants and days.

Now, if Dasyus were HUMAN non-Aryan tribes, how come Indra secures the DAYS and MID-AIR from mortals?

The allegory of Dasyus continues in the Rig Veda, where, Indra then actually chases Dasyus out of heaven and earth by the power of his thunderbolt. Indra’s greatness keeps increasing and the luminosity of Indra leaves Dayus with nowhere to hide. Indra recovers the lost Sun and as this Sun rises, it illuminates the caves where Vala (a type of Dasyus) has hidden the luminous cows.

So we clearly have a scenario that completely contradicts the possibility of Dasyus ever being Dravidian tribes that Indra destroyed.

The Rig Veda based attempts to prop up the non-existent AIT/IAM falls flat. Rest assured Dravidians (of AIT/IAM) do have noses and are able to speak and are intelligent people unlike the Dasyus of Rig Veda.

Evidence from Sangam Literature

Now let us travel to Tamil / Dravidian land to see if Tamils were really people that were completely different from the so called Aryans and if they showed signs of being brutalized by invading Aryans.

While there are extensive works that fall under the Sangam literature, let us pick some of the most important works to see what the Dravidians worshipped as their deities.

It is important to note that Sangam literature categorizes land into Mullai (forests), Kurinchi (hills), Marudam (Farm lands), Neidal (Sea Coast) and Palai (Barren).

Tolkappaiyam mentions the following as the presiding deities of these lands – Mullai: Tirumal (Vishnu), Kurinchi: Seyon (or Kumara / Murugua/Kartikeya), Marudam: Vendan (Indra), Neidal: Varunan (Varuna) and Palai: Korravai (Shakti).

Another key Sangam literary work called Purananuru talks about the legend of Lord Shiva destroying the three cities (Tripura Samhara). Shiva is said to have taken the lofty Meru mountain in his hand as bow and with the terrific serpent as bow string and a single arrow destroyed the cities sending them into into flames. And the deity of Seyon (Kumara / Kartikeya), is repeatedly seen across Purananuru and Ahananuru as being the progeny of Shiva.

This ties us back to Agni, the Kumara, template of the Puranic  Kartikeya, being an aspect of Rudra.

Some AIT / IAM apologists try to make Shiva to be an exclusive Dravidian deity to keep the theory running.

Shiva of Puranas is derived from aspects of Rudra of Vedas.

In Vedas, if you delve deeper into attributes of Rudra, across Rig Veda or the Rudram / Chamakam sections of Yajur Veda, a common set of attributes is easy to be seen.

And Shiva is all but one aspect of Rudra that is mentioned in Rudram / Chamakam. While the usage of Rudra has been replaced at large by Shiva, the attributes of Vedic Shiva / Rudra and those described in works like Periya Puranam of Tamil literature are the same.

In places like Tiruvannamalai or Chaidmabaram, in addition to Thevaram, Rudram / Chamakam is also recited, if Shiva of Tamils and Shiva or Puranas / Vedas are different.

If anything, the Taittriya Samhita of Yajur Veda (where Rudram / Chamakam occurs) is a tradition that is living primarily in Tamil Nadu, AP and Karataka, today.

Conclusion

From this small attempt to put things in perspective, it is very easy to understand that the AIT/IAM, based on Rig Veda and the premier Tamil Sangam literary works is a farce. If anything, it is easy to see that this great land has been inhabited by people that belong to the same Vedic family.

Differences based on linguistics, skin color, local culture, cuisines etc are being played up by vested interests today, as it were done 150 years ago.

To repeat it, this land was inhabited by followers of the same Vedic Dharma until the early part of last millennium.

P.S: We have not even touched the theological works of Alwars (Vaishnavites) and Nayanmars (Shaivites) to establish the oneness of the Vedic dharma of this land. If one reviews the entire hoax of AIT and Dravida-Arya divide would fall flat as creative fantasies of a drowsy mind after an extra peg!

Learn Sanskrit Month 10

Tenth installment of the course.

Routine reiteration:

a. Do not get too bogged down by grammar and usage while you learn Sanskrit. Often Sanskrit is considered to be all about mugging up lots of declensions and conjugations and this fears off most students. Instead take is as a natural language. Feel free to make the most blatant grammatical errors so far you are able to convey your message. Develop a feel for the language instead of thinking about grammar.

How did we learn Hindi or English or our mother tongue? Did we learn grammar first or language first? And do we speak these languages in a grammatically correct fashion even today? Why burden Sanskrit with overdose of grammar in very beginning then?

Simply start talking on every other thing in Sanskrit and enjoy the funny pronunciations you make or blatant errors you make in grammar. Have a laugh on that and simply continue. Soon you will develop a natural grip over the language and grammar will be automatically taken care of.

b. Try using Sanskrit words even in your mother language. After all Sanskrit is the mother of all languages. Let the children associate with their Mom and have their foundations strengthened! And in process, your road to mastery of Sanskrit will also be traversed faster.

c. Download a copy of Introduction to Vedas (Hindi) from http://agniveer.com/2045/introduction-to-vedas/ if you know Hindi. This is an amazing text not only to understand Vedic concepts but learn Sanskrit naturally. Because most sections of the book are presented in very simple Sanskrit as well as Hindi. In some sections there are deviations in Sanskrit and Hindi message and it would be a good idea to explore those areas and form the right opinion!

Vedas promote universal love – 2

This entry is part 5 of 8 in the series Vedas - Myths and Reality

Myth 4: Vedas have selfish prayers

Vedas have nothing but selfish prayers. For example, Rigveda 3.53.14 calls for looting people of other countries.

Reality:

1. Another shameless act of fraud. Am getting tired and bored countering such stupid allegations now. Perhaps we deserve more intellectual haters.

2. When it has been clearly established that Anarya means terrorist and the ‘allegators’ have themselves given reference from Nirukta and Swami Dayanand (I am not sure of later source), where is the confusion?

The mantras prays that Cows that give milk and sources of prosperity have no utility in places where terrorists thrive. They be better put to use for prosperity of noble people.

3. In other words, if Al-Qaeda or Maoists have lots of weapons and wealth, these better come to peaceful people than stay with them. This means that the country should adopt policies that ensure that wealth goes to deserving people and not criminals and terrorists. It is on basis of such mantra that all civilized nations put strict control and security on distribution of currency and critical resources.

4. Vedas also have prayers that call for reformation of terrorists into civilized beings. Refer Rigveda 6.22.10 that states that ‘Daas should be made ‘Arya’. How could it be possible if these were to denote races or specific geographies?

Hence, the whole allegation is as baseless as chair without legs.

Myth 5: Vedas imprison married women

Vedas provide no option of divorce for women and force them to tolerate the husband regardless of his deeds. Its the Hindu Law that allows divorce rights to women.

Reality:

1. If divorce is so much against Hinduism, what made Hindus themselves adopt such a law for themselves? As per Hindu law, a woman need not seek permission from husband for divorce. But as per Islamic Laws, a women can opt only for Khula – request for divorce. The husband may or may not accept it. His decision is final. Countries like Saudi Arab have stopped Khula since several years and hence women there have no options.

There are rational voices within Islam who demand equal rights for women and Agniveer is fully with them.

2. Kindly cite one single mantra from Vedas that asserts that woman cannot leave her husband under any circumstance.

3. On contrary, there are countless references in Vedic literature which demand freedom of women and equal rights. Refer http://agniveer.com/series/vedic-woman/ and http://agniveer.com/4276/manu-smriti-and-women/

Myth 6: Vedas incite violence

Vedas call for destruction of enemies and incite people to indulge in warfare.

Reality:

Yet another foolish allegation. It has been made amply clear as what is Dharma and whom does Vedas extol to fight against. The Vedic message is that Ahimsa Paramo Dharmah – Non-violence is the greatest religion. Refer Chapter 2 of Upadesh Manjari by same Swami Dayanand Saraswati who is being quoted.

So those who are terrorists are enemies of Dharma and deserve to be destroyed with iron hand. And those who do not do so bring miseries to themselves and their nation.

If what USA did against Osama Bin Laden or what India did against Pakistan in Indo-Pak wars or what Shivaji did against Afzal Khan and Aurangzeb or NSG heroes did against terrorists in Taj Mumbai is indeed wrong, then yes Vedas do urge us to not sit idle and indulge in such wrongs. The only condition (as mentioned before) is that no innocent/ peaceful person should be made a victim.

But of course, fanatics like Al Qaeda would hate to accept that others shall also resist their terror attacks with iron hand!

Myth 7: Vedas are manmade creations and not divine

Reality:

1. It hardly matters if someone believes Vedas to be divine or not. Because Vedic God will not put him in Hell for blasphemy nor promise a paradise full of harlots for obedience. The Vedic Law of Karma is much more robust, comprehensive, just and rigorous.

2. Nonetheless, if at all any text can claim divinity, Vedas undoubtedly have the most reasonable case. We have already detailed this in several articles earlier. Refer articles in http://agniveer.com/category/methods/vedas/ in detail once.

3. Bulk of the allegations on Vedas being manmade have been comprehensively dealt in http://agniveer.com/3937/who-wrote-vedas/

4. The mantras quoted from Vedas to prove they being manmade show foolishness of the author of this allegation. The mantras state that scholars create new things for benefit of people. What is so absurd about it? Which mantra says that scholars actually construct new Vedic mantras? Resnick Halliday is a famous Physics book. Now we have its 8th edition perhaps which improves upon earlier editions. So does it means new mantras of Vedas are being created?

Such problematic thinking obstacles can emerge in only those minds which consider so-called divine texts as objects of blind belief and not those who believe in reason and intellect.

It seems from quality of allegations as if the allegation-maker is forced to make such allegations at gun-point!

Myth 8: Vedas promote birth-based caste discrimination

Vedas promote caste discrimination through Purush Sukta. Further Manu Smriti adds to more hatred against lower castes.

Reality:

If there is one text in the world that talks of pure meritocracy, it is the Vedas. But those on gun-point have no option but to keep abusing Vedas regardless of facts.

1. The Purush Sukta theory has been debunked in detail in http://agniveer.com/5276/vedas-caste-disrcimination/

In summary, there is not even remotest reference to caste system in Purush Sukta.

2. For more on Vedas and Caste System, refer http://agniveer.com/series/caste-system-3/ which comprehensively addresses such myths.

3. The current Manu Smriti is an adulterated literature. To review what original Manu Smriti has to say, please refer http://agniveer.com/series/manu-smriti/

On contrary, if we look at available translations of scriptures like Bible and Quran, they smell of racism and hatred against non-believers. They call for special tax on non-believers and condemn them to eternal Hell. Many enlightened Christians and Muslims are thus attempting to reinterpret these texts but they are termed as apostates by the fanatics. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, founder of Aligarh Muslim University, was decreed a fatwa of death for his liberal views on these issues. Galileo was imprisoned for proving that earth is round and sun does not move around earth!

Myth 9:  Vedas talk of miracles

Vedas contain several stories of miracles that do not make any sense.

Reality:

I now really wonder that perhaps fear of Hell and lure of Heaven of harlots is too fantastic for fanatic minds to retain any element of reason.

1. Suddenly the fanatics have stopped referring to Dayanand and have started giving foolish interpretations. Readers are advised to refer to any relevant source for actual meanings as provided by Swami Dayanand. Of course there can be alternate meanings as well, but you would have to work really hard to lower your intellect in order to discover stupid miracles in a scientific text like Vedas.

Rigveda 3.33.5:

Just as wide rivers full of water reach their goal by meeting with ocean, similarly intellectual pursuits bring peace and happiness to those willing to be followers of intelligence.

Rigveda 4.19.9:

Just as rivers emerging from mountains acquire the lands of the plains, similarly the king should snatch away property rights of a son who does not believe in charity. In all situations, king should work for prosperity of the subject.

Rigveda 4.18.2

O Lord, may I not come through the way of womb which is very painful. May I do such actions that I need not take this path again and I get free from cycle of death and birth. I shall put my best efforts for this.

Atharvaveda 4.5.6-7

Which fool said that this contains a mantra to recite so that thieves sleep? It simply states that everyone should have a peaceful sleep in night. However the guard should keep vigil till others get awake.

This mantra says that guards should not sleep in night and soldiers at borders with fanatic country should also keep vigil.

Myth 10: Vedas were given improperly by God

When mantras of Vedas overlap, there was no need to give 4 Vedas to 4 different Rishis. This shows Vedas are fake.

Reality:

The 4 Vedas have 4 different themes. Rigveda is analytical and focuses on knowledge. Yajurveda is practical and focuses on actions. Samaveda is devotional and focuses on emotional intelligence. Atharvaveda is implementation-oriented. All 4 require different faculties and hence provided to different Rishis. Overlap of mantras does not mean anything. The same sentence indifferent contexts bring out different meanings. Further with different tones, meaning changes completely.

Only fools will claim that all duplicate sentences and equations from any text book be removed!

Myth 11: Vedas talk of stupid methods of birth

Vedas talk of crazy method by which Agastya and Vasishtha were born

Reality:

Not again! Another bogus claim. When Vedas contain no history, it is in vain to discover historical persons in Vedas. By that logic, Nayak in Vedas refer to Zakir Naik and Rahman in Quran refers to Dayanand!

Further, what happened to love for translation by Swami Dayanand? One can refer his translation and see that

Vasishtha refers to scholar

Mitra-Varun to bipolar forces (in this case Prana and Udana or exhalation and inhalation)

Urvashi – special knowledge

The first mantra states that those who attempt to control their breathing through Pranayam and pursue knowledge with full enthusiasm obtain extreme bliss.

Second mantra states that first birth happens through parents. But one who takes second birth through education achieves true bliss and glory.

Now some fanatics may allege that Agniveer has provided wrong answers. And in reality, some angel has told them that actual meanings of these verses are indeed very bad. But how does that matter, when we state that we refuse to believe in something against intellect? When we ourselves assert that any wrong interpretation deserves outright rejection, where is the reason for hatred apart from a general hatred against non-believers?

For example, Agniveer is raising voice to thrash all those translations and interpretations of Vedas that defend caste system etc as trash.

Thus, those who still are hell-bent on denigrating Vedas  even after such a rational stand of Agniveer are those:

– who are fanatic intolerant creatures

– who have a general hatred against non-believers

– who know that their cult prohibits apostasy but welcomes conversions

– who want to justify their own vices in name of some scripture or prophet

In reality, there is not one single evidence so far that Vedas have anything except rationality, justice, morality and inspiring lessons for entire humankind. Vedas belong to entire humanity and hence all rational minds should explore Vedas to seek amazing lessons for life instead of hating them due to a general hatred against non-believers. Hatred leads to miseries. May we all revive the spirit of Vedas in entire humanity and strengthen our foundations.

Om Shantih Shantih Shantih

Who says Vedas promote hatred? Agniveer silences Hinduism haters

This entry is part 4 of 8 in the series Vedas - Myths and Reality

Our objective in this article is to bust certain baseless myths regarding Vedas propagated sheerly on basis of the hypothesis that “A false shouted thousand times becomes a truth.”

We hope we shall receive support from all unbiased mind in establishing the truth.

Agniveer has no problems in people believing what they want to believe. That does not mean that Agniveer considers everything to be true, nor does it mean that Agniveer believes that only Agniveer knows the ultimate truth.

Yes, we do critically analyze various ideologies including the ideologies that we were born with in order to discover truth.

So yes, Agniveer believes in a formless omnipotent birthless deathless Supreme Lord, it believes in Ashtanga Yoga as the only path to achieve that Lord.

But that DOES NOT MEAN that Agniveer would hate those who disagree with Agniveer. Nor would Agniveer carry a hidden or explicit agenda to convert everyone to its own ideology. Yes, we call for everyone to convert to Vedic religion. But we have clearly explained what we mean by Vedic religion in http://agniveer.com/what-is-vedic-religion/

To summarize, it refers to an urge to constantly accept truth and reject falsehood to best of one’s abilities and intent regardless of existing beliefs, rituals and habits. In other words, to follow Vedic religion means becoming a Scientist because Veda itself means ‘knowledge’. Even belief in any books called Vedas is not a prerequisite. None other than fanatic minds would attempt to find fault with such a concept. And hence we want the entire world to follow this Vedic religion.

Now when we look at the reality, people are born in different social setups and fed with a variety of versions of truth specific to their societies for a reasonably long period of life. So people tend to define their ‘Self’ as Hindu, Shia, Sunni, Christian, Indian, Pakistani, Kashmiri, Tamil, Japanese etc. The goal of Vedic religion is to rise above these man made distinctions to realize the truth. But for the majority, current belief-system is the starting point and it is impossible to reject all prejudices fed over years since early childhood. So all that Vedic religion urges is to look around, analyze, explore and reject the obvious irrational and gradually move forward. If you feel that sudden clarity like Buddha, feel free to jump ahead faster. But all you have to do is to keep moving up like Fire. This will unleash the legend within.

Why Vedas are different?

We have mentioned this in several other articles but would want to emphasize again. Compared to the popular way of approaching Bible or Quran or Purans or any other religious scripture with whom Vedas are wrongly bracketed mostly, Vedas have a fundamental difference.

And that difference is that unlike any other so-called divine text, you are not threatened by any unseen force to follow blindly or face wrath. Nor are you incentivised with divine support for accepting the dictums of the text. On contrary, Vedas assert that if you believe in something blindly, you shall be punished as per law of actions.

So one is completely Vedic if he cannot understand importance of Vedas. On contrary, blind belief even in Vedas without knowing its meaning puts you in darkness.

When it comes to interpreting divine texts, Bible followers have little options that blindly believe in modern translations of Bible (original is lost. And new ones are also said to be translations of translations of translations of original in different language(s))

You either believe in Jesus that you do not see, or perish in Hell forever. A clergy will not accept someone as true Christian if he believes in many good teachings of Bible but refuses divinity to Jesus or counters many portions of Bible with whom he or she differs.

Same is case with Quran (as per dominant ideology of fanatic Islam). Regardless of all other good or scientific concepts claimed in Quran, you still have to believe in certain unseen things even if your mind cannot reason them or suggests an alternative model of world. So you must consider Muhammad as last Prophet. Mere belief in his being Prophet is also not sufficient. You must believe that he is last one. You must believe in Judgment Day, Heaven, Hell, Angels and an Allah on a throne on 7th sky. If you question any one of these, you are a non-believer and hence would go to Hell.

A rational mind, if born in a fanatic dominated country has limited choice

– either be honest (that since he never saw any of these things and think that logically other models of world can also be given where there are no Prophets, or that Muhammad was not a Prophet but a great man, or that there can be future Prophets as well, or that one does not need angels to talk to Allah, or that instead of Heaven and Hell there can be other ways of redemption, or that Judgment Day can happen every second as per law of Karma) and be killed or punished.

– or pretend to believe blindly and live safe. Thus all actions would be against true spirit of Islam but one would wear its badge to save himself.

– or stop reasoning, get brainwashed, be with power brokers and become a fanatic.

Vedic approach would be that of a scientist. Review the prevailing Vedic models, analyze and accept only what sounds reasonable. Discover more through analysis. Feel free to present alternative or modified models. Discuss with scholars and keep refining. Keep challenging assumptions and continue building better and better models that explain the truth.

When a Vedic mantra is interpreted, one need not blindly mug the mantra or its meaning. One can freely differ from prevailing meanings to come up with new insights. The only criteria is that the meaning discovered should be with reason and free from contradictions.

So Vedas in themselves are not to be taken as absolute truth in same manner that theory of relativity need not be believed in unless one has studied and understood the principles behind. If one jumps the gun and mugs up the Einstein paper on relativity without even knowing the basic laws of physics, we do not call such a person scientist. Newton and Galileo were greater scientists for us because they propagated the truth best known to them in most logical manner. Same is the case with Vedas.

Thus any attempt to denigrate Vedas is a foolish exercise. Even if you somehow convince the world (of people who know nothing of Vedic approach to understanding Mantras) that a particular mantra means something very wrong, that does not matter much. All that people have to do is to clearly reject such a meaning for the mantra that goes against their conscience. This will not bring them punishment as an apostate. And tomorrow, when people become eligible to understand mantra better, they are free to revise their stand as well.

So it is not the book which is important but the knowledge within each of us. Book merely serves as a guide to ensure we are on right track and have right benchmarks in place. Just like any Physics or Mathematics book.

Having said all this, in reality we could not find one single evidence of Vedas having anything objectionable in our research so far. We have already written several articles on this and have shown exactly how Vedas have been deliberately misinterpreted by those who want to defend their verbatim interpretations of some scripture in the era of scientific rationalism. Please review the entire series on http://agniveer.com/vedas/ with comments.

We shall now analyze in unbiased manner some more myths being propagated with ulterior agenda.
You can review the sources of these from google. We do not want to serve as publicity platforms for fanatics.

(Note: the allegations would be mix of English and Hindi. We shall seek volunteer support to convert them into separate Hindi and English articles in future)

Myth 1: Vedas call for destruction of non-believers

Reality:

Vedas call for destruction of only the Rakshas, Dasyus, Daas or Asurs. What they mean have been discussed in detail in following articles:

http://agniveer.com/rakshas-vedas-hinduism/

http://agniveer.com/vedas-and-daas/

http://agniveer.com/vedas-dasyu-hinduism/

In short, they refer to terrorists who kill innocents and destroy public property. For example Osama Bin Laden, Kasab, Naxalite and Maoist killers etc. It has nothing to do with one’s personal beliefs. As you would see in these articles, even those who were born in Arya (noble peaceful) families deserve to be called Dasyu if they indulge in terrorism.

Claim:

“हे अन्न वाले! [व वज्र वाले परमेश्वर]। तुझको स्तुति करने वाले लोग अच्छे प्रकार प्रसन्न करें। तू [हमारे लिए] धन कर, वेद द्वेषों को नष्ट कर।” [अथर्ववेद २०:९३:१]

See how Vedas call for destruction of those who hate Vedas.

Analysis:

The controversial phrase is

So it calls for destruction of hatred against Brahma and NOT any Vedic text hater. Brahma is a more subtle concept and refers to the source behind entire creation and hence the feeling that all human beings are equal. It also refers to pure intelligence. So the mantra calls for destruction of those forces that attempt to harm the scholars or sources of intelligence. In other words, those who want to bomb our schools, centers of excellence, intelligence departments or attempt to harm our intelligent masses should be destroyed just as we destroyed Osama Bin Laden and Talibanis.

Also the mantra does not say that people should be destroyed specifically. It says that the very forces – including systems and processes – that attempt to thwart free intellectual pursuits should be destroyed. Because only through freedom of introspection and enhancement of knowledge can one seek happiness for self and society. Perhaps what Anna Hazare is trying to do is to practice this message of Atharvaveda.

Claim:

“हम लोग जिस से द्वेष  करें और जो हम से द्वेष करे, उस को हम शेर आदि पशुओं के मुख में डाल दें।” [यजुर्वेद १५:१५ दयानंद भाष्य]

See how Dayanand hated others.

Analysis:

1. First, fanatic minds should attempt to review complete picture in order to reduce their fanaticism. Because first of all, a follower of Vedas is not allowed to hate just anybody who disagrees to us. On contrary, as per Yajurveda 40.6 and 40.7 one should view the entire living world as equivalent to himself and guided by the same Supreme Force and never have any hatred.

2. As detailed in previous references, hatred is reserved ONLY for those who blatantly flout this guideline and cause damage to innocents. In other words, ONLY terrorists deserve our hatred. There is not one mantra in entire Vedas that call for hatred on basis of personal or theological beliefs.

3. So terrorists should be dealt with iron hand and be firmly destroyed just as Osama Bin Laden was killed recently. Those who deal with terrorists softly bring havoc to society.

Once again, definition of terrorist is clear – He is someone who kills innocents and harms public property. Very rightly, these are the most severe crimes in all civilized countries of the world – perfectly in lines of Vedas. That is why USA has to send a mission in Abbotabad to destroy terrorists like Osama.

4. In any case, Swami Dayanand never translated mantras in Hindi. He translated them in simple Sanskrit which was then translated into Hindi by other scholars.

5. But in this, to ensure that no illogical meaning is derived, the original translation clearly specifies that this phrase refers ONLY to violent people. Refer Yajurveda Bhashyam Part 2 page 510 published by Ramlal Kapoor Trust which is based on original manuscripts.  I reproduce the relevant portion:

वे रक्षक हम लोग जिस हिंसक से विरोध करें और जो हिंसक हमसे विरोध करें उसको इन व्याघ्र आदि पशुओं के मुख में स्थापन करें.

– So this mantra refers only to violent people and ONLY official security personnel are allowed to carry such operations, not ordinary masses, as per Swami Dayanand. In other words, mantra says that Police and Military should protect people by destroying terrorists.

Claim:

Analysis:

This is Taqiah (cheating legitimized in name of religion) at its best.

1. The current context of the mantra starts at least from 12.5.47 and continues till 73. So quoting selectively only shows malafide intentions.

2. In reality, the mantra is dedicated to Brahmagavi (ब्रह्मगवी). This refers to fundamental unchangeable laws of nature.

3. The entire chapter details how those who refuse to act as per unchangeable laws of nature due to false ego get destroyed. There is no mention whatsoever of any person or group of person trying to kill anyone.

4. The mantras assert that those who try to silence the voice of intellect or truth get destroyed themselves. These mantras have been the foundation of all revolutionary movements that have ever happened to oppose the voice of tyranny. The chapter is an inspiration for all truth seekers. It elaborates how ultimately laws of nature destroy the greatest of power achieved through tyranny. It elaborates how wealth obtained through tyranny is actually a curse. It elaborates why the mightiest of rulers should be scared of harming a truth-seeking scholar.

5. Mantra 12.5.58 clearly calls this Brahmagavi ‘Aghnye’. So it is in feminine gender and means ‘non-violent’. So it is clear that the mantras talk of wider laws of nature and not inciting into killing innocents because of difference in viewpoints. On contrary, the mantras clearly assert that those who think of killing innocents get destroyed as per Laws of nature.

6. So yes, the mantra does say that Brahmagavi – or Fundamental Truths of Nature destroy the perpetrators of terror and hatred in most merciless manner.

Again, this belief forms the foundation of peaceful living and is rightly encouraged in all civilized societies of the world that believe in tolerance and co-existence.

Claim:

“वेदानुयायी सत्यवीर पुरुष नास्तिकों का नाश करें” (अथर्ववेद १२:५:५४ )

Analysis:

1. The mantra has only 4 words – Oshanti Samoshanti Brahmano Vajrah. None refers to atheists even remotely.

2. Some people may interpret the mantra which means “The Brahmagavi – Laws of Nature – are unchangeable and destroys them who do not comply by it”

to imply destruction of Naastik. But here Naastik will not mean Atheists but those who attempt to harm scholars and peaceful people.

Etymologically, Naastik means one who does not believe in what exists. So those who refuse to see the evident truth and act haughtily – like dictators and tyrants – are Naastiks. So one many interpret the mantra accordingly.

3. But this interpretation is not to be found in any word of the mantra which has been reproduced above. So even if someone used the word Naastik, obviously it has to be interpreted in right context.

Waking till late in night is bad. Osama was a bad person. Osama was killed because he was bad. This does not mean that all who wake till late in night should also be killed!

Only fanatic minds would deliberately try to give such logics.

Claim:

Swami Dayanand Saraswati claims in Satyarth Prakash that one should not eat with English, Muslim, Chandals etc. Is this not prejudiced?

Analysis:

1. Ideally we should not be analyzing this because it does not refer to Vedas. Swami Dayanand was also a human and there may be typographical errors in his writings. So instead of following him as Prophet, wise people should look at the overall theme of his message and act accordingly.

2. However, still we could not help analyze this because whatever has been presented is a blatant shameless lie. This alone exposes the intent and designs of those who wrote or promoted such hatred against Vedas. As per Quran, they are worst of the creatures.

3. Hindus are very particular about food habits. This is not to do with religion but standards of hygiene. So while the western world adopted practices like washing hands with soap after loo or cleaning hands several times before eating only after advent of soap and wash basin technology, Hindus have been following hospital-standard hygiene practices since inception of civilization. So just as a doctor would not eat with a sweeper because of hygiene issues, same is true with Hindus.

Even today, in west people do not even clean their parts after loo with water properly. They simply rub with dry paper. In very few places, people actually wash hands with soap after loo. 125 years ago, when Dettol was not there, people would simply rub off hands in dust or sprinkle some water. No conservative Hindu will take a bite without a bath. And before and after each meal, he would clean hands, face and feet properly. Even within a family, people would not touch each other or eat with them unless they are clean. The utensils used for loo, bathing and cooking are different. Anything that touches one’s saliva or even lips is never eaten by others even after washing. It is simply thrown away.

In some cultures, exchange of saliva is considered a symbol of love. They even encourage 8 people eating from same plate.

But a follower of scientific hygiene practices would desist from this, not because he hates other people, but because he cannot medically justify exchange of saliva, dirt within fingernails, nasal outpourings etc. So the medical rule is that each should eat in separate plate and after due hygiene care to prevent infections.

4. Further, as Swami Dayanand himself elaborates in next para, food habits vary as per geography and availability. So blindly imitating anyone’s food habit without analyzing its relevance in current situation is foolishness.

4. Nonetheless, contrary to fanatic claims, it were Arya Samajis who promoted Food Together as a concept to break caste barriers. Swami Shradhananda – direct disciple of Swami Dayanand – has organized perhaps the highest number of people ever in ‘Food together’ campaigns.

But this ‘Food Together’ does not mean eating from same plate. It means eating from different plates but at same place after due hygiene practices. It also does not mean eating dry breads simply because English eat it even though there are more nutritious and tasty foods in India.

So all that Dayanand implied was eating with foreigners (from same plate) who have not complied with hygiene practices like bath and cleaning hands properly after loo. Or blindly imitating their food when we have more relevant and tastier options available.

As a matter of fact, the variety and quality of good food available in India is comparable to no other place in the world.

5. Regardless of all, the reference provided is fake. Satyarth Prakash does not even have any reference to Chandals here.

The actually text is as follows:

अँगरेज़ यवन अन्त्यजादी से भी खाने का भेद नहीं रखा. उन्होंने यही समझा होगा कि खाने पीने और जातिभेद तोड़ने से हम और हमारा देश सुधर जायेगा…..

And here is the propagated fraud version:

अँगरेज़, मुसलमान, चंडाल आदि से भी खाने पीने का अंतर नहीं रखा। उन्होंने यही समझा कि खाने और जात पात का भेद भाव तोड़ने से हम और हमारा देश सुधर जाएगा….

Refer Page 308 of Satyarth Prakash at http://agniveer.com/2037/satyarth-prakash/ or any other authoritative version.

Notice the most shameless fraud. To malign Swami Dayanand, Yavan has been replaced by Musalmaan, Antyaj by Chandal and Jaati-Bhed by ‘Jaat Paat ka Bhed Bhaav’.

This completely changes the meaning and intent of author.

– In very next paragraph, Swami Dayanand explains what he means by Jaati Bhed. He very clearly asserts that among humans, Jaati Bhed or classification is NOT birth based but as per nature, habits and actions. He also states that difference in food habits among humans is due to geographical and availability factors.

– Antyaj means someone who is neither Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya or Shudra. In other words, only those who reject hygiene practices completely are Antyaj. For example people who do not bath, do occult practices with dead bodies, and eat without care of hygiene etc.

– Yavan does not mean Muslim but someone who hates Hindus. Or else, the same Swami would not have started his Lahore Arya Samaj from home of a Muslim while Swamiji was staying there (in a Muslim’s home)

– English of course were rulers. So Swami Dayanand was very clear that trying to please those who aim to harm us or ridicule our ways of living by eating with them from one plate – after utter disregard of personal hygiene and vernacular food- will do no good.

– Immediately after this section, Swami Dayanand praises Englishmen in the next section of Satyarth Prakash for their loyalty to their culture and nation. He says that English do not even wear shoes of any place except England, and never gave up their own way of living even after 100 years of stay in India. That is why they are the leaders.

Thus, he was referring to standing by one’s noble standards instead of imitating blindly in order to please others. What he wrote was with spirit of nationalism. Dayanand was the first person to give call to Swadeshi movement. Satyarth Prakash is the first text that talks of Swaraj and pride of Swadesh. That is why everyone regards Swami Dayanand as grandfather of freedom and Swadeshi movement. So instead of praising the founder of modern freedom movement of India in both political and social domain, fanatics feel pride in condemning the same!

Fools rush where angels fear to tread!

Myth 2: Vedic God is lecherous

Yajurveda 30.5 says that just as God created Brahmin for Vedas, He created lecherous for sex. So just as Brahmin’s dharma is Vedas, Kshatriya’s dharma is protection, Vaishya’s dharma is business, Shudra’s dharma is service, similarly dharma of a lecher is to promote vulgarity and adultery. So Vedas legitimize spread of vulgarity.

Reality:

The standard of allegation itself speaks volumes of the intellect of the creator of this argument.

I am not sure what is the source of this translation, but given that the modern fanatics have an obsession to condemn Swami Dayanand, let us review his translation.

1. To understand the context, let us review the previous mantra 30.5 as well. It says that may the just king give everyone due reward and punishment as per his or her deeds in same manner as Supreme Lord provides fruits of actions justly to all living beings.

So the mantra is a reemphasis on Law of Karma that motivates us all to conduct noble actions and desist us from foolish deeds.

2. The next mantra states that:

May the Lord (of world as well as country) give due reward or punishment to various people – Brahmin for promotion of wisdom, Kshatriya for right leadership, Vaishya for conduct of business, Shudras for their selfless service, thief for thriving in darkness, murderers for killing noble people, impotents for sinful acts (one who conducts sinful acts is impotent as per Vedas as he or she is incapable of producing anything worthwhile), terrorists for attacking innocent people, lechers for adultery, criminals for lowly acts.

The rest of the mantras in the chapter provide more such examples.

3. So it is very obvious that Vedas do not justify lechery. On contrary they demand the ruler to give everyone due reward or punishment. There is no reference of any creation or birth here.

4. Further the implication of the mantra is that one should be punished or rewarded only on basis of actions. So even a person whom people consider to be a potential criminal but does not conduct any such act in reality does not deserve punishment. This is exactly what is followed in any civilized country.

5. Vedas even have mantras where they do Namaste to criminals and thieves. This does not mean Vedas support them. Because the same Vedas ask for destruction of criminals. But Vedas also want us to realize that one should hate the tendency of crime but not the soul of the criminal. Because the same soul has capability to also reach salvation. Each soul is enlightened by same Supreme Lord. So while one should give due punishment to the culprit, that should not be with a feeling of hatred, but with a sense of duty for wellbeing of all. This appropriate behavior with all is the Namaste that Vedas talk of. We all should realize that even the worst of criminals are also children of God like you and me. We should thus hate their crimes but not the person behind.

6. Even if we take the meaning as asserted by fanatic minds, one fails to find the flaws. As per law of Karma, all get next birth as per their previous deeds. So the perverts and criminals of today who exhibit such tendencies from early childhood (like Akbar who beheaded an unconscious Hemu at age of 12) also take birth as per laws of Supreme. Any theist would agree to this.

But where does the mantra says that one should strive to be a criminal or lecher? At best one can say that the mantra says that lechers are also given birth by Supreme. Nowhere does the mantra says that if one is born naked doing urination in bed, he or she should continue the same throughout life! On contrary, to strive to be more and more mature is the mission of Vedas.

Perhaps, fanatics have a different agenda in life!

We openly challenge anyone to reproduce a single evidence from Vedas that promote any form of violence over peace-lovers or vulgarity or adultery or any other vice. But please do not waste our time with such frivolous allegations.

Myth 3: Vedic God is a fraud

There are several mantras in Vedas that called God a fraud (Mayavi). Swami Dayanand suggests that one should use fraud to defeat enemies. So Vedic God is a cheater.

Reality:

1. We are not sure of the source of first translation quoted by the fanatic brigade. But let us review the complete essence provided by Swami Dayanand. It states:

“बुद्धिमान मनुष्यों को ईश्वर आगया देता है  कि- साम, दाम, दंड और भेद की युक्ति से दुष्ट और शत्रु जनों क़ी निवृत्ति करके चक्रवर्ति राज्य क़ी यथावत उन्नति करनी चाहिए तथा जैसे इस संसार में कपटी, छली और दुष्ट पुरुष वृद्धि को प्राप्त न हो, वैसा उपाय निरंतर करना चाहिए.

2. So it is clear that the likes of Osama Bin Laden and perpetrators of genocide be destroyed through all means. To catch a criminal, police is allowed to use fake decoys. All civilized societies allow use of such means to destroy criminals and terrorists. Hitler was captured in his bunker. Osama was eliminated in a night operation. Many a criminals are caught by police through this method. If criminals be allowed to freely use fraud but we do not counter them with Bheda (tact), then soon whole world will be Somalia!

Thankfully such stupid concepts do not appeal to most civilized nations of the world, and hence world is still a sensible place to live!

3. I challenge to provide one single reference where Vedas assert that Supreme Lord or a just king used fraud against innocent peaceful people. Not one single mantra would call for Fraud or cheating anyone simply because we disagree on certain points.

4. But yes, Vedas are very clear that Osamas of the world be destroyed under any circumstance – without harming innocents – by hook or crook.

5. But to ensure that one does not misinterpret such mantras to justify crookedness in general, Vedas also clearly specify that all innocent peaceful persons be protected at all costs. For example the 3rd mantra of same Sukta emphasizes that peaceful people be not only protected but one should also put special efforts to increase their prosperity under all circumstances.

In brief, Vedas recommend exactly what is the ideal benchmark for any civilized country of today.

6. The translation of Rigveda 4.16.9 as per Dayanand’s commentary is available on Arya Samaj Jamnagar site. There is not even remotest reference to Supreme Lord being fraud or Makkar or Mayavi as alleged by the fanatics. We also checked 5 other publications but failed to find such an interpretation anywhere.

On contrary, the Mantra asserts that the king should constantly increase prosperity of peaceful noble people and destroy the terrorists who commit fraud and hatred.

The controversial word here is Mayavanabrahma (मायावनब्रह्मा) = Mayavan + Abrahma (मायावान +अब्रह्मा). So instead of calling Brahma as Mayavan (fraud), the mantra calls Abrahma (or those devoid of intellect or opposite of Brahma) as fraud. The next word used for them is Dasyu (दस्यु) making the meaning very clear – Those who use fraud, hate intellect and perform terrorism should be destroyed.

Had fanatic minds known even the basics of Sandhi (rules of joining of words) in Hindi or Sanskrit, they would not have committed such a blunder.

As per whatever scripture they believe in, they should plead apology for making such wily attacks on a scripture respected by millions as their foundation.

Is Purush Sukta of Vedas casteist?

This entry is part 8 of 11 in the series Vedas totally reject Caste System

“Vedas are the foundation of birth-based caste discrimination. It is in Vedas – the oldest scriptures of Hindus – the seeds of caste system were laid. And since then, exploitation of certain sections of the population became a mainstay of Hinduism. Later the condition aggravated even further. But because the foundation of the birth based caste system was in Vedas, and Vedas are ultimate unquestionable authority for Hindus, there was no way for the root of caste-system to be eliminated from the society.”

The above-stated belief system seems to be the predominant opinion regarding the origin of caste system infecting a wide diaspora of so-called ‘intellectual’ mindsets.

Who would benefit from Caste system?

Intellectuals from other religions use this as main excuse to hate Hinduism. Those involved in conversion from Hinduism and justifying the conversions done by them or their ancestors would find a convenient justification in blaming it on ‘Vedic’ birth-based caste system. It is a winning proposition for them thus.

Self-proclaimed Brahmins and upper caste

Casteist self-proclaimed Brahmins and so-called Upper-castes use Vedas as the tool to defend their ‘divine’ special rights regardless of their actual deeds. For them, of course, nothing could be more lucrative than an order from Vedas to continue giving an MBBS degree to all future generations of a doctor regardless of whether they actually could even spell ‘medicine’!

Dalit leaders

Many Dalit leaders have used this to explain discrimination in society and further their own political agenda. Who would like to destroy the entire vote-bank by destroying the very foundation of caste-system in totality? Ambedkar was different. He was a genuine seeker of social equality and Dalit upliftment. Ambedkar admitted that the only means for him to interpret Vedas were works of western Indologists since his own knowledge was grossly inadequate. In areas like Aryan Invasion Theory he vehemently criticized the western view! Sadly many modern Dalit leaders misinterpret Ambedkar for their narrow agendas.

Political leaders

Even someone like Mohandas Gandhi, on whose name Anna Hazare led the ‘Gandhian’ movement against corruption that made history, was bugged by this syndrome. Despite his other apparently mature views, with regards to the birth-based caste system, Mohandas Gandhi held firm belief that it was divine and essence of Hinduism. Instead, refusing to accept the very foundation of the caste system, he chose to legitimize it further by giving a special name to certain people – Harijan. What could be a greater insult to them than giving them a tag in the same manner as Arab looters would put chains over their slaves aka Non-Arab Muslims and call them ‘Mawali’? And now they say that ‘Mawali’ actually has a noble meaning! Refer Gandhi & Racism for references.

In fact, the reason ‘Harijan’ seemed to be the right word for so-called Shudras is that as per foolish neo-Hindu casteist views, Hari Bhakti was the ONLY spiritual option for Shudras as they were disallowed access to any Vedic literature! By calling them ‘Harijans,’ one can serve vote bank of bigoted ‘upper castes,’ neutral intellectuals and even ‘lower-castes.’ And indeed, the trick worked if we were to assess the popularity of this word with a demeaning intent.

We do not deny Gandhi’s contribution to society and nation. We admire his charisma. But for sure there are thousands of more unbiased non-dogmatic minds born in this nation who have contributed as much if not more. Despite all that Mohandas Gandhi is claimed to have done for the nation, we can no way admire someone who supported apartheid – the worst of the crimes – so vocally. Our firm belief is that the over-hype and imposition of Gandhi on India at a cost of the utter negligence of so many other role models that this oldest civilization of world has produced is driven by reasons that are different from an unbiased analysis of personalities and their concrete contributions. We need not elaborate on views of his protege Nehru whose ‘Discovery of India’ clearly proves his intent and wisdom. But all that is not the focus of this chapter. The crux is that even so-called reformer politicians could not rise over the myth of Vedic caste system for various non-intellectual reasons.

(None other Swami Dayanand had the guts to proclaim in clear terms, with evidence and reason, that no one is born Brahmin. A duffer born to a so-called Brahmin is worse than a Shudra, and a scholar born in a family of even a so-called Chandal is a Brahmin. Those who call certain people ‘Shudra’ on basis of birth are actually duffers and worse than Shudras themselves.)

Western Indologists

Western Indologists, of course, found a golden opportunity in the so-called Vedic caste system to dissuade Hindus from their foundations. They knew that most Indian intellectuals simply parrot what their white-Aakaas (Lords) utter, and that is what exactly is happening even till today. They had to do nothing great when foolish Hindus were still clinging to termite hill of casteism as their foundation despite all the slavery and downfall it had brought to them over last thousand years and even more. All British had to do was to propagate the garbage works on Vedas by their paid Indologists in lingua franca – English – and make it the predominant view on Vedas worldwide. After all, a false marketed smartly becomes a truth! Even a toilet cleaner advertised well becomes the drink of success!

We see that there were vested interests of all – the loser, the victor, the lawyer, the judge, and the neutral observer of drama – in ensuring that caste-system and the blame of its foundation in Vedas be continued and furthered.

But Agniveer cannot tolerate it

From time to time, few great men raised voices against this stupid caste system. Agniveer hails them as role models. But even they could not go to the root and question the very foundation of this hoax – ‘that Vedas sanction birth-based caste system.’ Their efforts only led to dissuasion of masses away from their own foundation – Vedas – and helped the enemy forces even more.

If someone calls your mother an indecent lady, you do not expel your mother. You instead explore the truth of the allegation, defend your mother if there is no such evidence and reject her only when there is conclusive evidence to contrary.

But those who can reject their mother at the very first hearsay are simply acting insane. What other adjectives can be used for them is left to readers. However, the crux is that Vedas are a mother for entire humanity – the first source of knowledge and wisdom and direction like mother’s milk. Those who neglect the mother or abuse her without any logical basis are bound to perish!

The humanity is facing troubles today because it neglected the mother. And we, the natives of this subcontinent, suffer even more ignominy and ironies and tragedies and problems because we were closest to the mother in recent history and yet chose to neglect her, or even malign her. We truly deserved greater punishments, and we rightly received them!

However, there are no surprises that we as foolish Hindus act so insane. After all, we derive our inspiration from fake and bogus stories from dubious texts that glamorize Sita’s exile by Rama and Harishchandra selling his wife! Even God can help only those who desire to help themselves!

And that is exactly why legends like Swami Dayanand and their progeny like Agniveer stand so strongly in defense of Vedas. Even if all other children of the mother choose to harm her or neglect her out of intent or foolishness, that does not grant each of us an automatic divine approval to neglect her and act even more foolish. The Law of Karma never spares anyone.

Note that the above is not an emotional hyperbole. Because such views, if understood without depth, may lead to blinded fanaticism. Someone may call Quran or Bible his mother and become defensive; other may consider Somalian piracy as its mother and become aggressive and so on. This would lead only to fanaticism.

On the contrary, the above is a well-analyzed viewpoint emanating because of a reasoning process. And we are very clear that if Vedas indeed are a source of anything illogical, we shall reject even the Vedas in the same manner as one amputates his own limb if having gangrene.

However, still one popular issue remains to be explained to complete the puzzle. This issue is about one particular verse of Vedas appearing in Purush Sukta that is considered the mother of the birth-based caste system. Purush Sukta is perhaps the ONLY alleged reference to the caste system in Vedas. All others allegations are too weak to be taken seriously even by detractors of Vedas. However, this one, though equally flimsy, surprisingly became a super hit just like many stupid Bollywood movies!

It does merit some special attention.

What is Purush Sukta?

Purush Sukta is a hymn of 16 mantras from Vedas that appears in all four Vedas with slight variations. More PhDs have perhaps happened on Purush Sukta than on any other intellectual aspect of Vedas. The 11th mantra of the Sukta is the one that carries the blame of birth-based caste system.

To explain the mantra and conduct their PhDs, scholars have used a variety of approaches.

• Some simply translated it literally.
• Some used their grammar prowess to justify caste system.
• Others (primarily those inspired by Arya Samaj) use the same prowess to reject it.
• Many other conclude that Purush Sukta is a later addition to Vedas because it is found in the last Mandala of Rigveda. In fact, they claim that the entire last Mandala of Rigveda is a later addition simply because they suspect so! Perhaps the ghost of Shah Jahan lives in Red Fort because I suspect so!

(It’s a different matter that they cannot explain why no version of Vedas without this 10th Mandala exists or how Purush Sukta is then found in other Vedas as well, not necessarily at end?)

(Sometimes we do feel that lack of scientific education has spoiled the entire world. Most people are leading opinions in areas like history, literature, and media, are those who were more scared of science and mathematics than ghosts were. Be it a Romila Thapar, or Wendy Doniger, or Max Muller or anyone else you may name. Destiny did not give them the opportunity to master the scientific process of thinking and analytical faculty.

We are of firm opinion that we need thoroughly scientific and analytical brains in these fields if we are to save our education system. An aptitude and reasoning test should be MUST.)

About Casteism in Purush Sukta

Coming back to the Purush Sukta, there is Mantra number 11 who is the culprit.

Mantra literally says:

“Brahmin was his mouth. Kshatriyas were created from his arms. Vaishyas came from thighs and Shudras were born from his feet.”

Shudras are lowly people born from his feet and Brahmins are greatest ones born from his mouth. Hence, the mantra is alleged to insult Shudras and glorify Brahmins. Kshatriyas and Vaishyas are somewhere in between.

As we said earlier, you can find a plethora of literature that critically analyzes this mantra and provides a wide amount of perspectives. Many explain in greater detail how this mantra led to modern day caste system through a chain of events and thought process.

Others try to prove that the mantra is interpolation because no other mantra in Vedas can be used to justify caste-system. As we observed earlier, we are always too eager to drive out the mother so as not to offend any allegation-maker!

More sincere defenders of Vedas attempt to provide alternative meanings of the various words used in the mantra to justify why it does not talk of birth-based casteism. They showcase evidence from other literature on the alternative usages of these words and attempt to defend the allegations.

To my mind, even this is a fruitless exercise beyond a point, because Vedas are much more to do with analysis and introspection and very less to do with grammar and etymology. After all, language was derived from Vedas and not vice-versa.

(Swami Dayanand laid great emphasis on analytical reasoning. In his proposed educational curriculum, only first few years of educations, when the intellectual faculty is limited, were dedicated to mugging up the basics. And rest of it was primarily focused on developing the analytical and introspective faculty. Unfortunately, modern Vedic scholars – including from Arya Samaj (the sect of his followers) spent years in only grammar and neglect science and maths completely. Their analytical reasoning is hopelessly limited, and they are unable to derive new insights and research from Vedas. Like other Arts subject, research in these fields primarily implies inconsequential literature survey (Which may soon become obsolete due to advent of search engine technology and digitization!))

Analysis of the casteist mantra of Purush Sukta

Coming back to the main line of discussion let us now analyze it deeper but a bit logically. Let us reproduce the meaning again for readability and make some points for those who see caste-based discrimination in this beautiful mantra:

Brahmin was his mouth. Kshatriyas were created from his arms. Vaishyas came from thighs and Shudras were born from his feet.

• How does the mantra imply that Brahmins are superior, and Shudras are inferior? In fact, if the literal meaning of the mantra is true, then Brahmins are the most disgusting and Shudras much purer because vomit and sputum come from the mouth. After urine and stool, they are the most detestable outputs of the human body.

If a cherry falls on feet, you can still pick it up and eat it after washing. In fact, most of the grains we eat may have touched ground or feet in some way or other. But if it gets into someone’s mouth and mixes with his saliva or sputum, you will not eat it for sure even after washing!

• How can something be born from feet, thighs, mouth or arms? Even for a human being, the organs for reproduction are different. It is thus obvious that the mantra actually means something else. Foolish people take allegories literally.

By this logic, if a son is ‘Aankhon ka tara’ or Gem of the Eyes of his mother, it would imply that he resides in the form of a star within an eye of his mother! Perhaps we would send to asylum who take such similes literally.

• The same modern ‘orthodox’ Hindu ideology also believes in the rebirth of the soul. In fact, the very foundation of Vedic religion and all its offshoots is a belief in the rebirth of a soul that is unborn and undying. The questions are:

• How could ‘unborn’ soul be born from something? And if it is true, then rest of the Vedas and Vedic literature is false.

• What happens after we die? Now it is an established belief that one can change from Brahmin to Shudra etc. in next birth depending upon Karmas or actions. In fact, this is the lollypop that bigoted ‘Upper Castes’ offer to so-called Shudras – serve us for this birth and then become Brahmin in next birth.

If migration of caste is possible in next birth, we would like to understand the mechanism. Is it that after death, the soul goes back to Purusha’s feet or mouth or arm or thighs, transfer via the blood circulation system to next organ and take birth again?

• And what about animals and insects and birds? From where are they born and how do they change into Brahmin? Does it not all sound stupid if literal translation were to be taken seriously?

• And in any case, the Vedic Supreme Lord is always formless and omnipresent. How can He have a face, arms, and legs in first place? Yajurveda 40.8 states so in unambiguous terms.

• Further, even if we assume Supreme Lord to have shape and be able to reproduce from His various organs except the one that is used in humans for this purpose, how does that imply birth-based caste system? How can one conclude from this mantra that Brahmins will take birth in a family of Brahmins alone and Shudras in a family of Shudras? As per literal meaning of the mantra, Brahmins, Vaishyas, Kshatriyas and Shudras should take birth ‘directly’ from the body of Supreme. If we take this literal meaning of mantra as truth, then someone takes birth from the womb of a mortal woman and NOT directly from God Himself can be none of the four Varnas. They are someone else!

• What more, the mantra is in past tense. At best one can conclude that Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras were born from various organs of a queerly formed Purusha at the inception of creation. But none of them survive till today. The Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras of today are born hardly a few decades ago. But as per literal meaning of mantra, the birth has already happened. It does not say that God continues to run a factory for future production.
Further, none of the modern human beings actually came from anywhere except mother’s womb. None of these modern claimants of Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra are genuine claimants of any caste. They all are fake claimants.
• Had someone taken birth from some woman’s mouth, we could have still have pretended to act superstitious and assert that “Since the mother is Supreme God, the newborn is a Brahmin.” But still, the condition of birth from the mouth, hands, legs or thighs ALONE constitutes a valid birth to qualify to be called either of Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya or Shudra. Rest of us, normal mortal humans beings, who originate from the womb of our mothers and not from hands, legs, or mouth, are perhaps aliens from outer universe controlled by some other God as per literal meaning of the verse!

• Since all births on planet earth happen ONLY from mothers, if we are to exist (which we all do!) then all women who give birth should be God themselves as per the mantra. And all men should be something other than either of four Varnas. We have no objection to people respecting all women as God. But at the same time, all men should be anything but humans since they did not come from the mouth, arms or legs of any woman.

Very clearly, the mantra makes no sense if one were to take it literally.

What is a pity that such a level of nonsense held sway over us for centuries, made us harassed paupers, and yet we refuse to get rid of the nonsense!

Intuitive and obvious meaning of the mantra

However, if the mantra is analyzed in the context of rest of the mantras and more intelligently, then definitely there is a whole branch of knowledge about the creation can be researched from the Sukta.

Readers can review the Chapter on Creation (Srishtividyavishay) in Introduction of Vedas (Rigvedadibhashyabhumika) by Swami Dayanand for a more logical and detailed contextual analysis.

However, an intuitive understanding of the mantra is very simple even for a layman if we are willing to remove the glasses of prejudice and mindset. It exactly means what all translators have stated:

Brahmin was his mouth. Kshatriya was created from his arms. Vaishyas came from thighs and Shudras were born from his feet.

The only issue is that Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra do not refer to any souls or humans.

They refer to Varnas or properties that can be chosen.

And ‘He’ refers to not only the Supreme Lord as a whole but any self-sustaining ecosystem – be it society, organization, individual or universe. After all, everything is inspired by the Supreme Lord!

The mantra means that any self-sustaining ecosystem necessarily consists of four Varnas or properties or qualities or components – Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra. Brahmin means intellect and knowledge. Kshatriya means strength and valor. Vaishya means management, balance, and stability. Shudra means rest of the qualities including ignorance.

A smart system would utilize the four components in most optimized manner.

A successful society would have intellectuals or Brahmins as head, Warriors or Kshatriyas as protecting hands, Vaishyas or business managers as stability providers or bone marrow producers (femur or thigh bone is the strongest bone of body) and rest of population would be utilized to provide support and basic infrastructure for the society.

A successful company would also organize itself accordingly.

The Supreme also creates the universe in a manner that these four components are balanced.

As human beings, even we have all these four within us. But as they are Varnas (choice) we have the option to increase or decrease their magnitude in various aspects of our lives. Note that there is, however, no binary choice of either having or rejecting a property. All the four must exist, only their proportions may vary.

Our brain represents the Brahmin, which should be nurtured to the extent possible. We should have strong arms to protect ourselves. We should have a very healthy body and good blood circulation to ensure our longevity. Also, we should have powerful feet to be dynamic.

There is no human who does not have any of these components or properties within him. And there is no meaningful activity that can be performed in the absence of all these four. After all, we are a complete being and not parts.

Even when we are studying Vedas, We use the
• Brahmin to understand the essence of Vedas
• Kshatriya to ensure we can study peacefully and not be disturbed by every other mosquito or nuisance.
• Vaishya to manage the procurement of Vedic text and lamp.
• Shudra to actually sit down, switch on the lamp and perform all manual tasks necessary to complete the study successfully.

If even one of the Varnas is ignored, the task may not be successfully and sustainably completed.

Buddhism focused only on Brahmin (intellect) and hence perished in Afghanistan to attacks from West Asian looters. Wahabis got exclusively into warfare and made the world a dangerous place. Hindus became too much of managers/Vaishyas or Jugaadbaaz and lost their strength and dignity. Islamic countries like Pakistan made Shudras out of its population by neglecting education and training, and now it is nearing a failed state due to the dominance of barbarians.

In society, we, for the sake of simplicity, call a person Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya or Shudra based on his predominant profession. However, this is only a simplistic approximation. In reality, each of us has a Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra within us or else we would not be able to survive even for a while.

You can clearly see that with this very logical interpretation, the entire Varna system as well as the mantra becomes so comprehensible and easy to understand. Of course, with further introspection and analysis including the study of language, we can derive even deeper meanings from this vastly intellectual mantra from one of the most wonderful Suktas of Vedas.

Summary
The broad essence is obvious and intuitive if observed without any baggage of post-dated bias and preconceived notions.

• That the particular mantra is not to be taken literally but as symbolism.

• That Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra represent four properties that pervade all human beings. These four properties are Varnas or choices.

• That means that we have a choice to increase or decrease their magnitude in various aspects of our lives.

• That the four organs of body – head/face/mouth, arms, thighs, and legs – represent the qualities of the four Varnas. If we consider the broader meaning of Uru used for Vaishya, it implies the entire central system – digestive system to thighs. In fact, in Atharvaveda version of the mantra, the word Madhya meaning center is used instead of Uru to clarify this better.

• Any ecosystem that provides appropriate roles & responsibilities to these four properties or people representing these properties is bound to be successful – be it an individual or society. Those who try to use feet for head or vice versa are bound to perish.

And that is what exactly happened through birth-based caste system. Even the dumbest witted were made ‘heads’ or ‘face’ of society merely because they were born in certain families that claimed to be Brahmins. The weaklings were warriors because of the family tag. And the most brilliant were forced to be in servile positions simply because they were born in some other set of families. As a result, we invited our own destruction!

However, we clearly see that by any stretch of the sane imagination, one can no way interpret the Purush Sukta mantra to have any meaning even remotely associated with the birth-based caste system. Vedas stand for complete meritocracy and equal opportunities for all human beings.

All these PhDs who are trying to prove or disprove casteism in Purush Sukta mantra 11 are completely irrelevant. They only reemphasize the need for quality aptitude training and examination of those who indulge in such researches. And speak volumes about intellectual capabilities with regards to analysis and logic of those so-called scholars who conducted such research in past.

We have also analyzed in other parts of this book, that the entire hoax of Vedas having to do anything with racism or casteism or discrimination in the name of gender or birth is a figment of the imagination of selected few. It is true that for quite a significant period in history, such perverted ideology held sway over the sub-continent causing utter loss to world and country. However, events do not justify themselves merely by their happenings. Just because something stupid happened in the era of Ashoka or even Ramayan and Mahabharat does not make that justifiable.

(There is a misplaced notion that ancient India was Vedic and now we are non-Vedic. There is a misplaced notion that Western world is anti-Vedic and we are more Vedic. All these notions emanate from shallow thinking. Vedas represent the best practices manual and fundamental laws of nature and living. There was never a time when all best practices of Vedas implemented with 100% perfection, and there was never a time when a society completely rejected Vedas. All this varies from time to time in different aspects of life. We benefit when we adopt Vedic wisdom in certain aspects of our lives and face miseries when we refuse to do so in some other aspects. We are far more Vedic in certain aspects compared to Ramayan and Mahabharat era. In certain aspects, we lag behind. Similarly, the Western world is far more Vedic in certain aspects of life like respect for all humans, while we are ahead in some other aspects like family values. This is a multivariate highly non-linear and dynamic function. But Vedas provide us way to attempt to maximize the value of the function at any given point in time.)

Citing examples from history or present era to claim something to be Vedic or anti-Vedic is as foolish as rejecting Vedas. We do not reject the concept of a circle in Mathematics simply because a perfect circle cannot be drawn in reality!

All we need to do is to seek opportunities for improvements in the true spirit of Vedas. That is what ideals are meant for.

Now, this caste system has been an anti-Vedic nuisance troubling us for ages. It has been a prime cause of all other troubles we faced and continued to face since last thousands of years. However, today is the most golden opportunity to destroy its very roots and become deserving of greater bliss.

The modern era social patterns make it totally outdated to classify a person simplistically into any one of the four Varnas. It is the time we adopt a more evolved model – where each human has all the four Varnas whose proportion vary in different aspects of life at different times in different situations.

And the foundation, as well as inspiration for it, should rightly come from our roots – the Vedas themselves. Let us together destroy the myth of caste system in Vedas and take it further to destroy all traces of birth-based caste system from our society as guided by Purush Sukta.

Conclusion

We conclude with our interpretation of Purush Sukta mantra 11 in nation’s perspective, as elaborated above:

May only the intellectuals be allowed to become face and heads of our nation.

May only the strong, powerful and possessors of noble character be the strong hands that protect and bring us glory through efforts.

May the smart, trained managers guide our entire processes and ensure a vibrant, healthy effective control mechanism. And may we utilize the rest of us to provide foundation and service to keep the system dynamic and powerful.

May we never allow non-intellectual minds to become heads, weaklings to become hands, untrained incompetents to manage the central control system and waste our talented resources in doing less productive activities.

Let us never allow mismatch of talents and job role on frivolous reasons like birth, family, favoritism, or corruption.

Let no profession – material or spiritual – become fiefdoms of selected few on the basis of any artificial barrier like caste or gender. And if there be any such existing barriers, let us destroy them completely to embrace the Purush Sukta!

The caste system is the father of all corruption.

Let us work for its total annihilation of it, in theory, and in practice.

There is no other way!

Eid Mubarak – 2

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Agniveer wishes a very happy and meaningful Eid Mubarak to all Muslim brothers and sisters.

It is said that Satan remains tied up during the entire month of Ramadan when self-control and abstinence is observed. And Eid-ul-Fitr represents enlightenment received as a result of this self-control. We shall not dwell into the historical interpretations of the festival and associated concepts. We shall instead attempt to assimilate the key essence behind.

Almost all festivals celebrated across all societies have some historical significance. But what is more important is the lesson behind. Festivals symbolize certain aspects of goodness which we should always attempt to embrace from all humans and cultures. There is so much to learn from and teach each other!

So the key essence of Eid-ul-Fitr is defeat of Satan and victory of goodness. Just like Vijayadashami.

Now Satan is supposed to be have been a very capable follower of Allah. However when Allah asked him to bow to human, he arrogantly refused. This arrogance made him a villain. Satan is supposed to misguide human beings and confuse them away from path of spiritualism and goodness. Satan may come in any form and try to confuse us. Eid-ul-fitr and this story of Satan in texts is supposed to guide us on how to identify the Satan and keep him away from us.

1. The month of Ramadan represents self-control. And hence we get a message that the best way to keep Satan away is self-control. Stay away from indulgence and Satan shall stay away. Observe Brahmacharya (non-sensuality), discipline in food and routine, pure thoughts and humility and thy shall have an armor to ward off the Satan.

The Yoga Darshan derived from Vedas – the original divine texts – teach the same message of self-control leading to ultimate bliss in greater details. And Eid-ul-Fitr/ Ramadan attempts to convey a simplistic version of the same. For those who have no access to original Vedic wisdom, Eid-ul-Fitr represents a commendable way to establish the basics.

Its a different matter that over a period, like any other social custom, even this had its set of distortions and variations. But the essence remains establishment of noble Yogic principles of self-control and benevolence.

2. As we already pointed out, Satan is one who refused to humbly bow to human. Note that Allah did not put any eligibility criteria to shortlist human for bowing. This clearly means that all humans regardless of their age, gender, belief system, religion, race etc deserve our humble bow. And those who refuse to do so are actually Satans. Those people are Satanic who say that we should bow only to selected people – who believe in certain set of beliefs or worship certain people.

The only criteria for being a true Muslim is unconditional bowing to all human beings. Those who refuse to do so are Satan – plain and simple.

So the festival helps us identify the Satans among us so that we can stay away from them.

3. Bowing down has to happen not only in words but in action. So simply saying ‘Namaste’ does not mean bowing. Bowing to human beings means:-

– caring for all human beings and considering all humans as one family

– considering that all human beings, regardless of their beliefs, will have blessings of Allah

– praying for Heaven (aka happiness) for all human beings

– refusing to accept that only selected human beings will go to Heaven and non-believers will burn in Hell forever

– refusing to treat so-called believers and non-believers differently

– refusing to mingle with other human beings simply because they do not subscribe to our belief system

– refusing to have any agenda of giving Dawah for our sweet behavior with others even if they do not share our beliefs.

So far the other person also shares the same attitude – of bowing to humans – he or she is not a Satan and hence deserves our unconditional bow.

4. The only persons who do not deserve the bow, as per Islam and Eid-ul-Fitr, are those who put conditions on bowing. Thus all those who believe the following are Satans. Another word for them is Kafirs. The following are the Satans:

– those who believe that even noble-intentioned non-believers will go to Hell

– those who believe that one should treat believers and non-believers differently in personal, social or political matters

– those who believe that blind belief in any set of customs is necessary to achieve blessings of Allah and hence Heaven

– those who believe that those worshipping Allah in a different manner – say through idols because of their simple-heartedness – are worst of creatures

– those who believe that apostates should be punished for being honest to their own conscience simply because we disagree with them

– those who believe that we can preach our beliefs everywhere but must not allow others to propagate their beliefs in peaceful manner

– those who believe that women are inferior to men

– those who believe that one believer is equal to hundreds of non-believers

– those who believe that destruction of Jews and dominance over India are necessary to signify opening of gates of Heaven for so-called believers

– those who believe that only after recitation of Kalma can one become a Muslim

So the likes of Osama bin Laden, Kasab, Zakir Naik, Israr Ahmad etc who clearly appeal for differential treatment on basis of unverifiable belief systems are the true Satans – the real kafirs.

5. And all those people who humbly bow for service of entire humanity without any discrimination are the true worshippers of Allah, the true Momins, the true Muslims. Eid ul Fitr offers us an opportunity to showcase our thankfulness to all such true Muslims since inception of civilization and resolve to be such a Muslim ourselves.

6. So Agniveer humbly bows to the great Muslims till today who worked for humanity alone without any conditions. We specially bow to legendary Muslims of the Indian subcontinent for their contribution to entire humanity and we resolve to follow their noble examples.

We bow to Muslim Rishis like Agni, Aditya, Vayu and Angira. We bow to legendary Muslims like Brahma, Vishnu and Shankar. Warrior Muslims like Ram and Krishna. Freedom fighter Muslims like Rana Pratap, Veer Shivaji, Guru Gobind Singh, Ashfaq, Bismil, Bhagat Singh, Azad, Netaji. Prophetic Muslims like Swami Dayanand. And thousands of other selfless worshippers of humanity – the followers of Allah’s order of unconditional bowing to humans.

We also bow to historical Muslims across the world whose contributions have benefited the entire humanity – Newton, Einstein, Faraday, Maxwell, Rutherford, Bohr, Landsteiner and hundreds other who shaped the modern world.

Almost all of the above mentioned people and so many others never recited any Kalma. In fact many of them were Jews! But still they were Muslims as per story of Satan and Eid-ul-Fitr. Because they selflessly served the entire humanity without any hatred, bias or arrogance. Those who refuse to regard them as the ‘best of the Muslims’ are the ones who are real Satans or Kafirs.

7. Thus the festival teaches us that Islam is not a religion in reality. Islam means humility. Those who humbly bow to entire humanity without any preconditions are actually Muslims – regardless of they being Hindu, Christian, Jewish, Shia, Sunni, Ahmadiya, Bohra or whatever else.

Those who put preconditions that only Shia are Muslims, or only Wahabi are Muslims, or only who believe in some set of rituals and texts blindly alone are Muslims are actually Satans as per message of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. We should stay away from Satan as per message of Eid.

8. Also note that Allah is formless. So He cannot come in human form to give you message. He thus communicates only through inner voice of logic, reason and pure feelings. Those who heed to this inner voice are Momins – irrespective of they being Hindu, Christian, Shia, Jewish, Sunni, Qadiyani etc. And those who refuse to do so through blind belief are Satans.

Now Allah gives us a natural message to love all. As children we never differentiate among humans. It is only later age blind belief without reason or rhyme that causes us to hate some and love others. We feel a natural urge to be friends with all. Those who deny this divine urge are Satans and those who follow the pure urge to consider entire humanity as one family are real Muslims.

The festival gives us a message that we should never counter the inner voice because that is voice of Allah. We should never try to manipulate Allah’s inspiration as per dictates of any human being who demands blind faith and not reason. Let us not think of doing to others what we do not want to be done to us.

Eid is the festival to resolve to connect with this source of intelligence through Brahmacharya, purity and meditation as well as noble actions aimed at entire humanity and not to particular sects. This is the only way to ward off Satan.

9. Eid-ul-Fitr and story of Satan reemphasizes the Vedas. They indicate that Vedas are the original divine message. This is because it is EXACTLY the message of Vedas to bow to all humans unconditionally.

The Vedic greeting for all human beings is Namaste – I humbly bow to you. Vedas recommend Namaste for everyone including criminals. This is because it is Vedic belief that a person, howsomuch wretched, still has some positive qualities. He is nurtured by the Supreme Lord and to honor Him we should bow in respect. Note that bowing does not mean worship. It only implies an acknowledgement of grace of Supreme and resolve to work for its well-being.

It is a daily duty of all humans, as per Vedic culture, to help and feed even the most wretched creatures. After all law of Karma can also bring us down to their levels if we become arrogant. This daily duty called Balivaishwadeva is a necessary component of Panchamahayajna – the 5 great daily resolves of Arya or noble persons. Even before eating, a Vedic person is expected to pray for nourishment of all living beings in the world.

It is interesting to note that, Namah (from which Namaste is derived) is the most frequently occurring word in Vedas. Thus humility and service of humanity form the bedrock of Vedas. It is from Namah that the word Namaz was formed which was later adopted by great Muhammad to mean worship of Supreme – the best form of Namah.

So Eid-ul-Fitr teaches us humility and how the Islam of Eid-ul-Fitr is nothing but an attempt to provide a primer to Vedic wisdom.

On occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, once again Agniveer humbly bows – offers Namaste – to all Muslims of the world – regardless of they being Hindu, Christian, Shia, Sunni, Jewish, Qadiyani and wishes them Eid Mubarak. May we all work together for entire humanity without any artificial demarcations. May we regard entire humanity as one family and be able to ward of those Satans who want to divide us in name of religion, beliefs, books or symbols. May we listen to reason – which is voice of Allah – or else we will become Satans ourselves.

O Allah! Grant us the humility to serve entire humanity, prayer to seek Heaven for all regardless of their personal beliefs, and strength to destroy the Satans who believe otherwise.

May we all human beings congratulate each other Eid Mubarak as one single family that shall remain together – in happiness, sorrow, heaven or hell!

And may we celebrate this Eid Mubarak daily through practice of Vedic wisdom of Yoga that forms its foundation!

Namaste!

Was Islam spread by sword – Zakir Naik

Once a Pakistani little boy asked his father- “Abba Ji! Was there water all over Pakistan before Muhammad Bin Qasim came?” Who are the Muslims of Indian Subcontinent- India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and even Afghanistan? Who were their ancestors when Muhammad Bin Qasim was not even born? In spite of the fact that many of the sub continent Muslims think they belong to Arabs, the truth remains that their ancestors were Hindus and Buddhists. We know this truth brings thunderbolts to many subcontinent Muslims because it makes them inferior in front of Arabs in Sunnat of prophet (to be like Muhammad) which has direct say in getting heaven or hell hereafter. In order to convince themselves and of course Allah and Muhammad that they are no less Arabs, Mullahs in the subcontinent preach the gullible masses to ape Arabs in every possible field starting from worshipping in a language which is alien to them (Arabic) to using odd number of stones and dirt instead of water while cleansing…

The purpose of this article series is not to create hatred of one community among rest. Rather the objective is to help the scared and confused subcontinent Muslims come out of identity crisis and recognize their roots which are Indian and not Arabic for sure. This series aims at reminding Muslims the atrocities brought down to their ancestors as the price of becoming Muslims from Hindus. Those friends, who happily accept being called as slaves/apes of Arabs but feel shame in calling India as Mother and ancestral land, are requested to read it carefully. This is the challenge to all fanatic Mullahs and pseudo historians who are trying tooth and nail to fill hatred of ancestors and ancestral land in the hearts of already filled gullible Muslims.

Our message to Muslims- You are our Brothers and Sisters. You did not attack India you did not rule India but you were attacked and were ruled. You are natives, sharing with us the common ancestry. Jihadis from Arab and central Asia attacked us and made you slaves (as will be proven in this series). They don’t even consider you pure Muslims. So its high time that you give up this symbol of humiliation and slavery of 1000 years and come back to your original ancestral faith of Vedas. We are here to welcome you.

Our message to Hindus- Indian Subcontinent Muslims did not attack us as they are no outsiders but are natives and were Hindus. They were the real sufferers who had to give sacrifices of lives of dear and near ones during the Jihadi onslaught and still couldn’t save their faith. They are those who got converted at the point of sword with no second option. They have started hating us now because of their own troubles and our reluctance of taking them back in our Dharma which was/is their right. So its our foremost duty to convince them in most compassionate manner to come back to our/their Dharma.

There prevails a sick defeated mentality in subcontinent that believes in making people ostriches who bury their heads in sand when see any danger. Most of the Mullahs like Zakir Naik and Imam Bukhari suffer from this ailment. They believe in moving the goalpost after they have shot. Instead of facing truth and recognizing the problems they deny the existence of problems by twisting the facts, denouncing logic and distorting history. They are like a school kid who answers the questions he knows the solution for in a test and cries for rest of the questions as out of syllabus or incorrect!

The fanatic supporter of Osama Bin Laden, Taliban, and peace (?), Zakir Naik, who claims to be the expert/student of Islam and Hinduism without knowing Arabic and Sanskrit has his interesting thesis over Islamic invasion and conversion of Hindus in India. This expert of Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Jainism, Christianity, Judaism and all other isms in the world, has now become expert of history also. He claims that Islam was spread by intellectual sword instead of steel. He argues that Muslims ruled India for 1000 years and if Muslims would want, they could have converted each Hindu at the point of sword. In this articles series we will puncture this argument to the full.

All true Historians across the board agree that Islam in India was spread by force of sword. Actually any person who argues that Islam was spread peacefully and there were no forced conversions of Hindus in the reigns of Islamic rulers, ceases to be a historian! It is because by saying this, he goes against the very accounts, chronicles and biographies of Muslim rulers written by THEMSELVES and THEIR STOOGES. This article series will highlight only few examples from the vast accounts from Islamic rulers and Historians of atrocities, plunder, kill, rape, enslavement, and forced conversion Jihadis caused to the natives of India.

We have divided this work into two categories. First one to analyze the arguments of Jihadis of modern times in the support of peaceful history of Islamic spread in the subcontinent and the other one to let the facts speak for themselves. This article presents the logical analysis of Jihadi Zakir Naik’s arguments. So here we go with his video and subsequently the analysis of main points raised by him therein
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IOyMZpcYQM

Islam was spread by sword and deceit in India. Every single page of accounts, chronicles, and biographies of Muslim rulers written by themselves or their salaried sycophants bear testimony to that.

Zakir Naik distorts Indian History

Alleged lovers of Osama Bin Laden, Taliban, and the absconding preacher Zakir Naik, who claims to be the expert of Islam and Hinduism without knowing Arabic and Sanskrit, has his interesting thesis over Islamic invasion and conversion of Hindus in India. He claims that intellectual sword spread Islam in the Indian subcontinent and not the sword that kills. He argues that Muslims ruled India for 1000 years, and if Muslims had wanted, they could have converted each Hindu at the point of sword.

Before we provide facts on the bloodiest history of Islamic conquest of India in subsequent chapters, let’s first examine the claims of ‘intellectual sword’.

Zakir Naik: Islam means peace. Hence when you say Islam was spread by sword, it translates into – Peace was spread by sword, which can’t be true

Analyst:
We couldn’t understand the point made here. Can’t a person named ‘Aman’ (meaning ‘peace’ in Urdu) throw bomb and kill innocents? Does he get clemency from court just because an Urdu dictionary reads ‘Aman=peace’ at page number 420?
If Islam means peace and Muslim means peaceful, then why not translate the below news –

“Talibani Muslim blew up suicide jacket in a Muslim area and killed N number of Muslims to establish Islamic rule.”
as
“Talibani peaceful blew up suicide jacket in a peaceful area and killed N number of peaceful to establish peace.”

Does it make any sense? (Unless Zakir Naik calls Taliban and Al Qaida terrorists as Kafirs, the above translation is perfect as per his dictionary!)

Zakir Naik: Islamic terrorism is a misnomer

Just like many common misnomers such as the flat earth, square triangle, and 2+2=5, Islamic terrorism is also a misnomer. Islam and terrorism are exactly opposite.

Analyst:
‘Misnomers’ of flat earth, square triangle and 2+2=5 might be common in Madarsa due to lack of basic mathematics, aptitude, and science skills, but they don’t exist in normal world.

Interestingly, coining Islamic misnomers seems to be the favourite pastime of Kafir-haters. Look at any Islamic website or social media page. Below claims are made with impunity and ultimate belief.

• Quran has scientific miracles.
• The Miracle of Moon-breaking by Prophet is scientifically proven.
• Islam teaches equal treatment of free and slave.

One wonders because

• If a miracle, by definition, is something that is performed by violating laws of physics, how can it be ‘scientific’ in first place?
• If moon-breaking has been proven scientifically (which is factually incorrect) i.e. it happened under scientific laws, it is not a miracle in first place.
• If you allow slave to be a slave, how does Islamic equality save a slave from remaining a slave?

We eagerly want to agree that “Islam and terrorism are exactly opposite.” However, the popular translations of holy texts draw our attention.

If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein [For ever]: And the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon him, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for him.

[Quran 4:93]
Narrated Abu Juhaifa: I asked `Ali “Do you have anything Divine literature besides what is in the Qur’an?”… Ali said,… we have nothing except what is in the Qur’an …and what is written on this sheet of paper.” I asked, “What is on this paper?” He replied, “…. and the judgment that no Muslim should be killed in Qisas (equality in punishment) for killing a Kafir (disbeliever).

[Sahih Bukhari 9/83/50]
So, as per Islamic texts, killing a Muslim intentionally results in death penalty to the killer in this world and hell hereafter. But on the other hand, if a Muslim kills a Kafir (non-believer) even intentionally, he is neither to be put to death nor is this any sin for which he is denied houris in Heaven!

If these texts are to be believed, terrorism has been defined as “killing of Muslims” alone. This ‘terrorism’ is certainly against Islam!

Zakir Naik: De Lacy O’Leary said Islam was spread peacefully

The famous historian De Lacy O’Leary says that fanatical Muslims across the world forcing Islam at the point of the sword is the most fantastic absurd myth historians have ever repeated.

Analyst:
“The Mohammedan conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. The Islamic historians and scholars have recorded with great glee and pride of the slaughter of Hindus, forced conversions, abduction of Hindu women and children to slave markets and the destruction of temples carried out by the warriors of Islam during 800 AD to 1700 AD. Millions of Hindus were converted to Islam by sword during this period. ”
[Will Durant, The Story of Civilization, page 505]

Now the fight remains as to which of these two historians is higher authority? For this, we will direct our readers to the chronicles and accounts of the Ghazis (those who participated in the religious war of Islam) themselves in the next chapters who have, with full pride, written volumes on how they attacked India and made it Dar ul-Islam from Dar ul-Harb.

It’s interesting to read what the famous historian of Zakir Naik, De Lacy O’Leary writes on Islamic conquest elsewhere:

It is a debated point whether Muhammad intended his religion to be a universal one, or for the Arabs alone…. It is necessary for all Arabs to believe in Muhammad if they are to escape hell (Muslim, i, 54), but it is not stated to be necessary for non-Arabs to believe…. As regards the non-Arab world, the Qur’an seems to contemplate conquest rather than conversion (Qur., ix, 19-23)….. But these passages fall far short of a definite missionary command to go forth and preach Islam to all the nations of the earth.
[De Lacy O’Leary, How Greek science passed to the Arabs]

So the historian of Zakir Naik makes some interesting points which may not equally comfort Islamists.

• It is unclear whether Muhammad came with a universal religion or an Arabic one!
• Islam is unclear on the necessity of accepting Muhammad as a messenger by Non-Arabs!
• Quran believes in conquest and not in conversion.
• There are no commands for Muslims in Quran to preach Islam to nations other than Arab!

Zakir Naik’s historian ends up claiming that Quran believes in conquest instead of conversion thereby proving exactly opposite to what Zakir Naik was trying to establish. He maintains that Quran has more to do with sword than any religious proselytization. So if Zakir’s historian is right, his claims of “there is no compulsion in religion” and “Islam means peace” bite the dust.

Zakir Naik: 80% population of India is still Non-Muslim

“We” Muslims ruled Spain for 800 years. “We” Muslims, the Arabs, have been the Lord of the Arab land for last 1400 years, but still 14 million Coptic Christians live in Arab. “We” Muslims ruled India for 1000 years, but still 80% population of India is Non- Muslim. If we had wanted, we could have converted each and every Hindu at the point of the sword, but we didn’t.

Analyst:
Did the readers notice “We” Muslims? Isn’t it interesting that a person with Hindu surname ‘Naik’ is claiming co-ruling with Arabs and Mughals over Spain, Arab, and India for thousand years? Isn’t it funny if a neo-converted tribal Christian in Orissa starts claiming that ‘we Christians’ ruled India for 200 years, grew industries and railways for poor people of India?

Zakir Naik believes that if Coptic Christians in Arab, Hindus in India and Christians in Spain managed to survive during Islamic rule, then this is the proof that Islam didn’t force non-Muslims to Islam. Great! But is this a valid logic? What if we apply this logic to

• Pagans of Arabia, who were 100% before the advent of Islam, but today even their traces are not found in Arab.
• Zoroastrians population of Iran is not found in today’s Iran.
• Hindus & Buddhists of today’s Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Kashmir, who constitute less than 1% of the population today but used to constitute 100% of the population 1400 years ago.
• All the Non-Arab nations that were 100% Non-Muslims before Islam came to their lands and are 100% Muslims today?
If Zakir’s logic has to be true, he will have to accept that Islam was spread by the sword in Arab, Persia, Today’s Afghanistan, Pakistan, parts of India, Bangladesh, and all Muslim countries that used to be Non-Muslims before Islamic invasions and are now almost 100% Islamic.

The reason behind Hindu survival in India despite bloodshed was the presence of warriors like Raja Suhel Dev, Durgadas Rathore, Rana Sanga, Maharana Pratap, Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Govind Singh, Veer Banda Vairagi, Chhatrasaal, Krishnadev Rai, Lachit Borphukan, and innumerable Hindu warriors who used to dispatch Islamic Ghazi invaders to Jannat in the battlefields. It is because of these warriors Islamic attacks could not wipe out Hindus totally from today’s India. Hindu-Buddhists of Afghanistan & today’s Pak resisted but couldn’t survive centuries of bloodshed. They were all converted at sword’s point.

Zakir Naik: Sword of intellect converted Hindus to Islam

It was the sword of intellect that forced Non-Muslims to convert to Islam. Quran [16:125] commands every Muslim to argue with others and bring them to Islam through dialogues.

Analyst:
Why are both ‘preachers’ and ‘converted’ intellectuals who preached and converted to Islam through intellect have been the most illiterate people of all times? Where are these intellectuals who are expected to participate in intellectual activities like science and technologies? Why does Sachchar Committee report name Muslim society as most backward and illiterate?

Zakir Naik is clearly doing Taqiyya (lying sanctioned by Islamic texts to deceit Kafirs) here! He quotes Quran [16:125] which has been cancelled by Ayah e Saif or the verse of sword [9:5] which asks Muslims to “slay idolaters wherever they are found.” Zakir keeps quoting cancelled verse and hides real verse of sword! This Taqiyya is well exposed by none other than Zakir’s co-Mullah Israr Ahmed, a prominent Islamic scholar from Pakistan and an eminent speaker of Peace TV of Zakir Naik.

He says: What we (Muslims) told Non-Muslims (during conquest) that either you accept Islam and be equal to us or live as inferiors to us in an Islamic state or let our swords decide!

Zakir’s Taqiyya is also busted by the most authentic Sunni Tafsir of Quran by Ibn Kathir, in verse [3:110] and it says:

“You, Muslims, are the best nation of people for the people, you bring them tied in chains on their necks (capture them in war), and they later embrace Islam.”

During Muslim rule in India, not just people, but places and animals were also converted to Islam. Karnavati was converted to Ahmedabad and Prayag was made to accepted Islam that became Allahabad. In the battle of Haldighati, the elephant of Maharana Pratap named Ramprasad was captured by Akbar’s forces, and he made Ramprasad accept Islam to become Peerprasad! Question is, were the cities and animals also intellectual enough to get convinced by Islamic intellectual sword?

Zakir Naik: Allah only accepts religion of peace

The only religion accepted by Allah is Islam which means peace! [9:33]

Analyst:
So finally Zakir ends up shooting his own foot! Allah will kill you if you don’t bow to Islam which means peace?

Accounts of Muhammad Bin Qasim and Mahmud of Ghazna

Here are accounts of two most respected Jihadis in the subcontinent, Muhammad Bin Qasim and Mahmud of Ghazna in their own words. “Historian” Zakir Naik can still deny these bare facts because Islam means peace, but for others, it is time to think.

“The forts of Siwistán and Sísam have been already taken. The nephew of Dáhir, his warriors, and principal officers have been dispatched, and the infidels converted to Islám or destroyed. Instead of idol temples, mosques and other places of worship have been built, pulpits have been erected, the Khutba is read, the call to prayers is raised, so that devotions are performed at the stated hours. The takbír and praise to the Almighty God are offered every morning and evening.”

[Muhammad Bin Qasim’s letter to Hijaj Bin Yusuf,
The Caliph]

“The blood of the infidels flowed so copiously, that the stream was discolored, notwithstanding its purity, and people were unable to drink it. Had not night come on and concealed the traces of their flight, many more of the enemy would have been slain. The victory was gained by God’s grace, who has established Islám forever as the best of religions, notwithstanding that idolater’s revolt against it. The Sultán returned with plunder which it is impossible to recount.—Praise be to God, the protector of the world, for the honor, he bestows upon Islám and Musulmáns!”
[Tarikh-i-Yamini of Utbi (regarding Mahmoud of Ghazna) contains- (At Thanesar)]

More such accounts will be discussed in subsequent chapters.

Muslim tells the truth about distorted Indian History

There is a video from Pakistan in which famous intellectuals of Pakistan are shedding tears on the distortion of the history of Islam in the Indian subcontinent. Important points made by the scholars in the video are

• Pakistani Muslims celebrated at memorial of ‘Alexander the great’ near the banks of Chinab and called him ‘Sikander e Azam’ thinking he was a Muslim, and he defeated Hindu King Porus!
• It was not Alexander but Porus who won the battle! But Porus, being Hindu, is downplayed against Alexander by Muslims of subcontinent!
• Pak Muslims are masters in distorting history.
• Islamic rulers were so much against the education, science, and technology that when someone offered Shahjahan a printing press, he refused saying it is disgusting and deserves hatred (Lanati)!

• One of the biggest bases of US military is in Qatar, and the Caliph there admits that we are thankful to the US for keeping rest of Arab armies and countries at bay!
• Pakistani policy makers have now decided to exclude Ashoka and Chandragupta Maurya from the history of subcontinent because they were Hindus!
• Muhammad Bin Qasim did not come to Sindh on the call of a woman as foolishly glorified and taught to Muslims. He had attempted twice already to capture Sindh before!
• Mahmud of Ghazni burnt the whole city of Lahore during one of his invasions. These are blatant lies that Mahmud Ghaznavi made Lahore the cultural centre.
• Subcontinent Muslims never ruled India for 600 Years. It was the invaders of Central Asia and Iran who ruled.
• Mughals hated Indians too much, and Baburnama is the evidence of their hatred.
• No native Muslim (converted from Hindu) was considered to be Sultan of Muslims.
• It is absolute rubbish that Babur, Akbar, and other Mughals loved India. They hated India and its culture so much that they used to have Persian as official language in courts and Turkish in their homes. They had nothing in native languages.

Conclusion

Logical fallacies and factual errors can’t make Zakir Naik victorious. Bitter truth is that Mullahs like Zakir Naik don’t want Muslims to connect with their ancestral culture & roots. A web of lies is created to trap Muslims in denial about their identity and origins. An honest analysis of the bare facts is all that is required to end darkness.
